However once they switched owners the quality of the food declined drastically along with the taste of the cuisine. The food is consistent- we always get the same. Fried wings with fried rice. Chicken is tasty and rice is good- the rice can't be saved for the next day as it gets hard. House special fried rice- not that much shrimp but it's good over all. Rib tips - tasty and not dry. Crab Rangoon- it could be better. Has barely any crab. Beef broccoli- good Chicken broccoli- less oily and tasty Egg roll- are decent The restaurant, its decent inside, it was closed during Covid but has reopened- never really see anyone eating inside. We've been looking for good Chinese spot in the Douglasville area and was told this place was good. Was very disappointed in the crab rangoons..... barely cooked!! Paid extra for fried rice and it more like yellow rice with peas and carrots..... wasn't even good!! I got the beef egg foo young and the gravy was a little more yellow than I'm used to, I prefer more of a brown gravy, but it was okay. My granddaughter got the general Tao tofu which she liked and was a healthy portion! I think I'll keep trying to find a good Chinese spot this wasn't it. read more

The rave reviews that I have read previously are accurate; China East is not your average Chinese restaurant, but it's rather exceptional! The place is very clean and the staff were extremely friendly, patient and accommodating. I couldn't make up my mind in what I wanted to order, but because I read great things about their boneless spare ribs, I decided to place an order along with a large Lo mein and a large Beef and Broccoli. The lady asked me in her accent, "All this fo you?" I responded "yes...me very hungry!!" Lol So I sat down in one of the booths (about a dozen available) and waited for my food. In about less than 10 minutes, the cook walked out and had all my dishes served on a tray and it looked fabulous. Everything was served hot and the ingredients were very fresh. The food here definitely tastes "authentic!" The broccoli had a nice and crisp bite to it (with a bright green color) and the beef actually tasted like "beef!" The boneless spare ribs were also on-point and they gave me a generous portion for a small order. I also really enjoyed the vegetable Lo mein; the noodles were not over cooked and it had a really nice flavor to it. I just moved into the area and this will definitely be my "go-to" spot for Chinese cravings! read more

I initially tried this place a few years ago. I was hesitant to try it for a while due to its location and outward appearance. I'm glad I did! The food has always been solid and the prices are great. The combination plates (offered anytime) are a great value and plenty of food. I usually end up saving some for lunch the next day. Egg Rolls - probably the best in Douglasville Pot Stickers - Great and not typical. You can tell they use hand-made wontons and the dipping sauce has a nice touch of spice in it. Soups - pretty standard, but still good Sweet and Sour Chicken - solid General Tso's Chicken - my favorite. The sauce is great and the chicken underneath remains crisp even doused in the sauce. They don't overcook the included broccoli which is a pet peeve of mine. Overall, the food is not mind-blowing, but very good. And for the prices, I believe it is the best Chinese food value in Douglasville. I also like that it appears to be a 4-person, family operation. On top of that, it is one of the few Chinese restaurants in Douglasville that seem to always have people dining or waiting for food when I run in to pick up our order - that's a good sign. Well this establishment was my go to 14 years ago when we moved to douglasville. The food was fantastic. However, managment sold the restuarant to a new family. Since then the food isn't great or good. I wish I could find the original owners. And hope they opened up a new location. They have been gone for the past 6 years now. read more

Pleasantly surprised by this place which I overlooked for four years. Upon walking in, there were several families eating, one was a group of maybe 5-6 and they were Chinese - to me, that is a good sign about the food being served. We walked up to the front counter, told the guy it was our first time here and we looked over the menu. We ordered lo mein, fried rice, white rice, garlic chicken, orange chicken and Mongolian beef - this was more than enough food to feed a family of 4 and have leftovers, and came in under $35. About 10-15 minutes later, our take out order was ready and the guy also hands us a 2 liter of coke saying it's on the house. Score! We get home and proceed to inspect the food. My garlic chicken had bamboo shoots and water chestnuts (and a bunch of other veggies) - I call this out, because it seems most Chinese places I have tried out here really "Americanize" their food. Every single item I ordered was authentic and fresh! Each entrée had delicious distinct flavors, rather than just a generic blended jumble of Asian flavors. My husband who doesn't usually like orange chicken, LOVED China East's version! My absolute favorite was the Mongolian beef - I dare say its better than PF Changs...and not nearly as chewy. I am completely still in shock that we have such a gem in Douglasville (which I lovingly refer to as dullsville). Finding delicious ethnic food close to home, gives me hope that maybe I am overlooking the potential of culture and diversity actually being present here...or maybe I am just on a food high because of this delicious Chinese food! read more

I'm doing my happy dance because I finally found a Chinese place with the boneless spareribs made the way I flippin' like em!!! With the sauce and the fat on the meat! Yes! And the General Tso's is good, too. Better than most. Because some places it's like...oh, no. Thankfully I actually like the food here. They must not use a lot of MSG, because I didn't get a headache after eating here. The rest of the food was good, we got the typical stuff: gyoza, fried rice, lo mein, chicken and broccoli. This is the only Chinese restaraunt I go to. The employees are very friendly, the prices cannot be beat and the food (and portions) are great. Sweet and sour chicken, general tso's chicken and sesame chicken are all great. The meal comes with an eggroll and rice (choice of white rice or pork fried). Dinner plate is around $7 which is fantastic for the portions you get and are prices are lower than others. If you pick up (as we normally do), the food is cooked quickly. You may also eat in but the atmosphere is more of a grab and go than sit down. I would love if they offered delivery but they dont at the moment. read more

I did not realize this was mostly oriented to 'take out' service. The food was ok. Not great. The forks and spoons they offer are really, really cheap, thin pieces of plastic. Small. Today was my first time here. The service was good and the establishment was very clean. Unfortunately I will not be returning. The fried rice is more like yellow rice. I asked for spicy chicken in garlic sauce and there was not a pepper in sight. The food I received appeared to be fresh for Chinese take-out, but it lacked flavor. I have been eating sizzling rice soup for decades. Generally, it is flavorful broth, shrimp, chicken, and vegetables. China East's version was so bad I threw it down the toilet. They used hot water with a slight corn flour slurry for color and body, not broth. They substituted fake crab stick slices that were so overcooked they had no flavor and the consistency of boiled paste. There were no shrimp. There were no chicken slices. This was a complete waste of money, and I would never recommend this restaurant again. read more

When in a hurry, or wanting a quick take out with fresh ingredients and a small container of fresh, crushed red peppers in oil on the side, (a lot serve this spicy condiment, but take one look at it and if it is dark red in color, almost blackish, you know it is as old as the mold in grandma's basement!) China East is my choice. I love this restaurant! Their food has never disappointed. Plus, they almost always have a 100 score posted from the Health department right over the cash register in plain view - not hidden. I hope that is still true. I have had almost every dish they offer, but my favorites are the Beef, Chicken or Shrimp in Garlic Sauce, the Mongolian Beef, the Lo mein and the Egg Foo Yung. The plates are always brimming over with the food they prepare. The vegetables are always fresh and plentiful. Lots of fresh broccoli, bean pods, and a host of Chinese vegetables. The focus is on the freshness! They are never overcooked; never mushy or unrecognizable. Of the three or four other Chinese restaurants that I have visited in Douglasville, this remains my preferred choice when in the area. The two young ladies that normally take your order are always pleasant and the service is quick and efficient - whether eating in or dining out. Although this little gem is located in the Wal-Mart shopping center in Douglasville, the food is much better than I have had at similar locations. I usually will not dine at others that look like they may be from this chain, or a similar chain, but this one has always been great. My only complaint would be that it is time for the tables in the dining room to be tossed out. The tops are starting to show signs of wear and tear. This does not take away from the food, at all. The majority of the business is take out, anyway, so perhaps in this economy, they are hedging their bets like the rest of us. Happy eating! read more

We stopped here based on Yelp and found the 4.5* to be too high. This places serves your average, cheap Chinese take-out complete with plastic spoons and styrofoam take-out boxes even when eating in. Don't get me wrong: cheap, mediocre Chinese can be good. This place does a good job of things but don't go expecting some great hole-in-the-wall find. I just got 3 meals for 6$. At least that's how I look at it bc a combination plate with chicken lo mein, pork fried rice and an egg roll will end up being 2-3 meals for me. The egg roll is huge and so freaking good. I ordered my food takeout and there were a few other people in there but pretty quiet. My food was HOT when I picked it up and still hot by the time I got home which is a very good sign to me. I know it was fresh. I definitely will be back!! Try this place out. read more

The people are very sweet and friendly, but the food can take a while since they seem to be understaffed. I have to say that it is well worth the wait. You get a lot of food for a great price AND its the closest thing to NY style Chinese food here in GA.
