Pretty standard Chinese buffet. Plenty of options. Everything I tried tasted good. Everything looked fresh and the staff was checking on the food frequently and bringing new food as needed. The wontons for the soup were a little dried out but softened up after a few minutes in the broth. One of the best Chinese Buffets I have been to in many years . The food was surprisingly good and always fresh . Many different chicken dishes , 2 fried rice , seafood , few soups , egg rolls , fresh fruit and even Frog Legs all very well prepared and again always fresh I only found 1 item that I didn't not like . One thing I really liked was the Lo Mein - best I have ever had to date . Staff were quick to grab used plates , clean plates and bowls were readily available . Went to China Garden while visiting Greenwood South Carolina. Cant say it was the cleanest place I've been to. While eating at the table booth a HUGE ROACH crawled past my husband on the back of the booth seat! The two cashiers tried to catch it and kill it while we were sitting there ! Couldn't eat after that! They still brought us a check for $62.00 and we just sat down to eat, without eating after seeing the HUGE ROACH crawling along past my husband. We paid and left . I would not recommend this place at all. Not very sanitary at all. Can't say if we enjoyed the food cause we didn't get to eat it. I give a 0 rating. Thanks for reading ! read more

I absolutely love this restaurant. It has been here for many years and I have never gotten bad food here. They always have a selection of soups, desserts, even a smattering of American food so your non-eating Chinese family and friends will let you come. The buffet has a hefty selection of options available. The buffet was always getting rotated so it stayed hot and fresh. On 6.22.22 my son and I had dinner at this buffet. I do know better, to avoid buffets, as I was a waitress in several restaurants for six years getting through college. A couple of hours after we left the restaurant the stomach pains started and, for the night and into the next day, I suffered long hours of food poisoning-severe cramps and pain with never ending diarrhea. Of all the chinese buffets in Greenwood, this is the best. The chicken is always tender and juicy, the fried rice is great, the soup is always warm, and the other unrecognizable meats that every chinese place has are delicious as well. Do yourself a favor though, and if you do eat dinner there, stay away from the steak. It looks amazing, and smells divine, but it is DRY DRY DRY. Great food, but a buffet that charges extra if you waste?!?! They check your plates when they take them and if they say that you've "wasted," they up charge you. I've seen 2 separate parties pissed at this as they left. Super weird. read more

China Garden is my go-to place for takeout, especially sushi. The food is yummy, but Li Shan is the reason my friends and I come back time after time. It's become a tradition, and Li Shan makes it a pleasant experience every time! He remembers us, takes care of our special orders, and is overall a great host. I've seen 4 Chinese restaurants since I've been in Greenwood and here's my ranking. Between China Star and China Garden, I prefer China Garden. I also stopped by Chinatown and they're no longer in business and Great Wall's buffet looked pretty depressing through the window, so I didn't even bother walking inside. China Garden is your typical small town Chinese buffet. Service is not super warm and friendly, but is efficient enough. Some of the dishes are pretty enjoyable if you like the small town Chinese buffet sort of thing. Here are some of the dishes I've seen there. China Star seemed to have many of the same dishes. Sesame Chicken Broccoli Chicken Green Pepper Beef Mongolian Pork Salt and Pepper Shrimp Salt and Pepper Crab Mixed Seafood Mixed Vegetables Fried Shrimp Fried Chicken Wings/Drumsticks Fried Cheese Wontons Egg Rolls 2 kinds of Fried Rice Lo Mein Green Beans with Garlic Some sort of Baked Fish (Salmon?) Hot Sour/Egg Drop/Won Ton Soup Various Sushi Rolls Cold Vegetable/Dessert Bar You can get buffet to go for something like $3.99/lb. Lunch is cheap and dinner varies depending on what day you go, but hovers around $9 or $10 without a drink. If you don't like eating in a loud situations with tons of people, babies crying and overweight people swilling plates of food in a cafeteria-like environment then you won't mind the food, which is actually on par with decent Chinese buffet places. Salty sauces. They do like their spicy food spicy, which is a good thing. The hot pepper chicken was good and so was the fried rice. The egg rolls were nothing more that large chunks of cabbage stuffed in thin wanton wrappers. I liked that they had a salad bar and sushi as part of the buffet. My family and I just left China Garden. After years of eating there, we have never experienced such rudeness and down right uncomfortable environment. The waitress was very rude, she kept taking our plates while we were still eating! She was trying to push us out the door. She spoke harshly and come off like we shouldn't be there. My children love China Garden. It is our every Friday night family dinner night. The food was great as always, but when the waiteress made a spitting noise at my husband after he asked for two to go cups for our tea. It was on the verge of racist. China Garden is one of my all time favorite chinese buffets. They are super busy during peak hours so if you mind a crowd think about what time you're going. When my parents come to visit from KY one of the first places they want to go is China Garden. I do admit though their sushi has suffered lately and not nearly as good as last year or even a few months ago. read more
