Been here two times as my daughter attends LU, both times not good. Second time we came was because the first two restaurants we tried had long waits otherwise I'd have avoided R Place based on our first trip there. Steaks are not of high quality, very fatty, and both times they were cooked wrong and had to be sent back, last time my daughters had to be sent back 3 times until I demanded a new steak be prepared (which they did) and so she ate well after my wife and I. Side dishes (baked potatoes) came out cold both times we were here. My wife ordered broccoli quiche, and was not quiche at all, more like baked broccoli and cheese and hard to discern if any egg was present in the dish. Was not good. Worst part is they did nothing to address the inconvenience. No comped drinks, no comped desserts...nothing. Bad business. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice shame on me....won't be a 3rd time. There are better options in Greenwood, not many, but a few. read more

I got the seafood cakes with crab meat (crab cakes) entree which came with two crab cakes topped with more seafood and a sauce, as well as a side and a salad. I chose the house salad with house dressing and it was loaded. It came with two dressings, a warm oil based dressing and honey mustard, as well as hard boiled egg, some veggies, and a croissant with drizzled honey on top. 2pm on Sunday: Seated right away! Food is always a7 out of 10 here. The linen napkins smelled like old food, we asked for replacement and same thing. The bill was incorrect (by 1dollar) but it happened last time as well. Spoke to receptionist and she said there was an issue in the register... told here about the napkin smell and she said she has heard that before, they have a linen service .... I have heard people tell me all about R Place but in our experience the 2 times we went the food was mediocre at best (room temp , plain )and the service was lacking . We were left at our table and only seen the waitress to take the order( after sitting a long time ) , drop the food off and get the check . First, let me say, Our waitress was Awesome! She got it all right with my food sensitivities, checked in on us regularly (though not too much), and brought everything we asked for. Wow! Great service! We ordered a burger, bun on the side, no tomato, with a side of loaded mashed potatoes and a house salad. Everything was delivered exactly as ordered, and it was all good. We met family for lunch here. Very good Covid protocols - masks, hand sanitizers, special area for curbside pick up of to-go orders. We sat on the patio which was a very nice experience. The server was super friendly and efficient (as was the manager (owner?) who seated us). 3 had the R's House Salad and it was beautifully put together- lots of ham, turkey, eggs, etc on fresh lettuce. The house dressing (honey mustard and hot bacon) looked and smelled delicious! Mom had the Thai shrimp wrap and really enjoyed it! It was enormous so she only ate half. I had the black and bleu salad with blackened tuna. I ordered the tuna rare and it was perfectly seared and pink!! The fried onions on top were some of the best onion rings I've had. I prefer mixed greens to iceberg, but the lettuce was super fresh. I was caught up in conversation and forgot to post photos, but everything was very nicely plated. We visited R Place with a party of 7 on the evening before Mother's Day. We called ahead but did not need a reservation and they were able to seat us when we arrived. The service was FANTASTIC!! Chance was our server and he was phenomenal! He checked on our table regularly and ensured drinks were filled-including my children's drinks who had lids. Have driven by R Place for years and never went until tonight. Mistake. Hubby had R chicken. Assume based on the name that it is a signature dish. Chicken was so chewy as to be inedible. Informed the waiter to let the chef know so they don't cook it that way again. Tables are sticky. Had a Manhattan at the bar while waiting for a table. Had a funny spice taste to it. Overall a good experience. We were sat in a side room which wasn't great ambiance. Both of us ordered steaks which were good, a little over done (ordered medium rare and got medium not a deal breaker) and a little under seasoned. Service was quick and great, very nice staff. I've dined at R Place twice recently and both times were very pleasant and the food was delicious. I love the ambiance- it feels like I'm in an old homeplace. The servers are pleasant and attentive. Even though it is large the acoustics are great- it is very easy to enjoy visiting and chatting with a larger group. My granddaughter who is a Lander student recommended it for the times I visit her there. read more

I had the steak and loaded mash, where my wife had the flounder and shrimp... the shrimp were delicious but salty. overall this place rocks... I will definitely refer friends and go back myself.
