You really can't argue with the ambience of the place, I lived in St. Louis for a few years and the area there known as "theHill" is dotted with places like this. Big difference they are run by Italians, this place isn't. I came in expecting great things, it has the right patina on it to be a good Italian joint. It came highly recommended by the staff of the Hampton Inn. It looked like it had been there for 30 years or more. Again, it was highly recommended and within walking distance , what could go wrong? It took them about 20 minutes to wait on me after I got seated. I should've left, I would've had a better meal somewhere else and wouldn't feel guilty about writing the this review. I gotta say, once they got started the food came out within moments. The toasted ravioli was a little on the loose side. Like maybe it should've been in the fryer a little longer. It was cheese ravioli with a sweet cheese inside it. I'm going to say the fryer was not hot enough to do the job. The breading was falling off. It was not crispy or crunchy. The shrimp carbonara was well-made, except it wasn't carbonara. Absolutely not a single piece of bacon. And it was a little bland. And I had to ask for cheese. Timing is everything. Literally, I was starting to eat my toasted ravioli and here comes the main dish, 3 minutes tops. There are no half portions of toasted ravioli. So be prepared to eat a bushel of toasted ravioli. Hint, hint, it's perfect for two people, maybe three in a pinch. I was just over it and ate the not-carbonara and, they tried really hard to make up for it. In the end, they did the only thing they could do, they heavily discounted the meal. I would definitely eat there again and even take my wife. I think that it wouldn't be a bad place to even have a group, they had a group in the next room and they were living it up. Sounded like they were having a great time. And maybe that's part of the problem, not enough staff for a busy night, maybe the kitchen was backed up? I don't know, I'd give them another shot, they have been there for a long time for a reason, and are obviously a popular spot I think I had a rare mediocre experience. This is the second time at Capris and we were highly disappointed. There were 7 in our party. One Shrimp salad came out as grilled chicken and two lemon picatta were less than desirable. No lemon wine sauce at all. The pasta was dry. They brought out one dish of the sauce for one meal and the second came out as we were boxing up to leave. No manager came to speak with the table. The sauce was greasy with very little lemon flavor. The checks all had a 20% gratuity already added, which i understand but there was no adjustment for the poor service and food. Ambiance is amzingly comfortable and decently private if at a booth. We ordered Fried Mushrooms to start and they were piping hot and you could tell fresh oil was used. 2 of us ordered the baked pasta. It was good and covered in Cheese. Very nice employees. The food is great and thoroughly cooked. My steak was fantastic and cooked correctly and the fries are the good kind of crispy. All the ladies the the front said was "kitchen closes at 9". One walked away. This is the best Italian place that isn't some fancy ass gourmet place in the state and possibly the southeast. It's actually probably better than the pricey gourmets anyway. The appetizer combo plate is a STEAL AND A HALF for only 15$ you get 3 appetizers no other Italian place does that. Personally I recommend the mozzarella sticks as they are giant warm sticks of cheese that is different than normal mozzarella sticks, the tom toms which are giant meatballs covered with marinara and Alfredo sauce, and the fried ravioli is unlike anything I've had it's the bomb. Capri's is, without a doubt, the best Italian place in Greenwood. The food is delicious and very authentic to the Italian originals. The wait staff is some of the best I've seen in a while and some of them can even recommend a wine (which is rare in Greenwood). And the atmosphere of the place is one of a 1940's Italian-American White-Collar type place. If you've got the dough, you'd be crazy not to eat here at least once! read more

For $21.83 I had a basket of bread, baked onion soup, house salad, 2 glasses of red wine, and the manicotti!!!! Unbeatable! I got there just a bit after 5:00pm. The restaurant did not fill quickly, however, their carryout service was jumping. The waitstaff was attentive and the meal was paced well. The bread was just okay (your standard restaurant bread) and came with butter and olive oil with seasoning and garlic. I substituted the Minestrone for the Baked Onion Soup. It was amazing! However, The soup by itself could have been a meal. I managed to polish it off though. The house salad was typical for an italian restaurant. Nothing special to report. Their special that evening was Chicken Cacciatore. I almost ordered it, but chose to go with the Manicotti. I am glad I did. The manicotti was stuffed into perfectly cooked crepes. They melted in my mouth! Somehow, someway, I was able to clean the plate, but alas, I had no room for dessert. I can only imagine how delicious they are...
