We are slightly further out, but they did agree to deliver to us even when they were busy, giving us a realistic wait time. We were not disappointed! Drove into Yorkville to check out the new Costco (and buy all the Kirkland whiskey that sold out at our local Costcos in Naperville...) and ended up going to lunch at China Garden on a whim ( my daughter was craving Chinese food). The food here is incredible! The Mongolian beef is just the right amount of spicy without being overwhelmingly hot and the sweet and sour chicken as just the perfect crunch. The egg rolls are the right balance of crisp and chewy. The little says that it's mind-blowing and deserves five stars, and I agree. If we ever find ourselves in Yorkville again, will definitely come here. read more

My go-to spot for Chinese food. I love the prices here and the portions are more than generous nowadays. I usually order the lunch special that comes with Wonton soup, egg roll or soda. My go to entrees are Kung Pao Chicken, Mongolian Beef, and the Beef and Broccoli. The service is always phenomenal the owner is super nice and caring. I tried tipping him and he gave me some soda in exchange. I enjoy the ambiance of this "in a wall restaurant" very relaxing, enjoyable experience. Decided on Chinese for Christmas and we decided to change it up. I was nervous about trying a new place. I placed my order online and it was very simple. I received a text that my food would be ready in 20 minutes. I was skeptical since it was Christmas and figured they would be busy. I was able to see the status of my order online. I got to the restaurant and I hadn't received an update so I called and they said my food was ready. So surprised that it was that quick. I ordered the Mongolian beef with extra meat, sweet and sour chicken, crab Rangoon and pork lo mein. I also ordered a small fried rice. Overall I was very pleased with my food. The Mongolian beef was good and it was worth the up charge for the extra meat. Lots of tender beef and full of flavor. The lo mein was good. I did not care for the fried rice or the crab Rangoon and I did not try the sweet and sour chicken. Portions were good and the price was reasonable. Tonight we ordered Kung Pao Chicken, Mongolian Beef EXTRA meat, dumplings, and chicken fried rice. Everything was really fresh, really yummy, and delivered quickly! I am genuinely glad to have a reason to update my prior review. Today I decided to try China Garden again and it was a good choice. I ordered the sesame chicken and sweet & sour chicken lunch specials with steamed rice, egg rolls, and crab Rangoon--a 'safe' order--for delivery. The food arrived timely, hot, fresh, and well packaged. The delivery person was kind and wished me a good day. The crab rangoons were tasty, as was the egg roll. The Rangoons aren't the onion-heavy kind & the egg roll was pretty cabbage-forward, so both were to my tastes. The sweet & sour chicken is always a safe bet and that's still true. The sesame chicken featured (almost too) large chunks of well-sauced, battered chicken and it was very good. The meat texture was better than I expected, the steamed rice was perfect, and the two pieces of broccoli let me pretend I was having a somewhat balanced meal. The portions are very generous: we were only able to finish half, which saves me the effort of cooking dinner tonight. For the price, this was an excellent deal for enjoyable meals. Very much the sort of thing you expect from your local Chinese spot. I bumped up to four stars because this experience was far better than the last, but I'm still a little hesitant to say they've turned things around until I try more of the menu and get a sense for their consistency. read more

I've lived in Yorkville for years and never tried this place because of the reviews I read on yelp, but today we caved. We had egg rolls, Hunan chicken, beef with broccoli and orange chicken as well as the fried rice. Everything was great! The woman who answered the phone to take our order was also very pleasant and helpful. I'm so glad we have a Chinese fave close by!. We will absolutely order again. read more

They read my phone order back to me (before hanging up) which was important because they missed an item I ordered and corrected it. Didn't eat in so can't speak to ambiance. I had a hankering for Chinese food, and there are only two spots in Yorkville. China Garden had only one review from three months ago claiming new owners took it over and it was awful, so first tried going to the other Asian restaurant instead but it is closed on Mondays. So back to this place to either debunk the last review, get sick, or something in between. As it turns out, I pretty much fell in the middle. The place was clean and they were super busy which is good. Everything was reasonably priced. I had the garlic chicken which is steamed in water so has a slightly velvety texture, but is super tender. I have had velveted chicken before so I knew what I was tasting, flavors of the dish were very good and a healthy portion was served. The eggroll was a bit unremarkable, although far better than a lot of Chinese restaurants as it was not a mushy frozen eggroll. Fried rice was good. Service was on their game, quick to process my order and serve the food and somebody came out to ensure everything was good. The restaurant is clean so ambiance was decent. I really wanted to give a good review because reasonably tasty and good service but it did destroy my stomach. Not sure if I overate, if they use an old school epic amount of MSG, or if their hot mustard packets are out of date and have turned as it was looking a bit funky but it is midnight and I am up popping tums. Okay you really don't expect reasonably priced, quick, good tasting Chinese Food in Yorkville. But oh yes there it is! I am impressed by the quality and size of their food. The wonton soup is excellent when you are sick. Good coupons are in the Clipper! The staff that answers the phone is polite and NEVER makes a mistake. We ordered (one of many times) on Christmas Eve and split it into 5 different orders which were 3-cash and 2-credit and it was 100% correct. Not easy I guarantee you! I hadn't been to China Garden in a few months. The last time I ordered there I was not impressed. Tonight I ordered the bbq boneless ribs, pork fried rice and crab Rangoon. The fried rice was REALLY good. The bbq pork was good quality cuts that were tender and tasty. The crab Rangoon were nice and crispy on the outside with a good portion of filling. From the outside it looks like nothing special but I have learned that you should never judge a book by its cover and I am certainly happy I did not. Order food from here tonight, got it delivered to my house. My order came with some items missing. BUT the customer service was amazing when I called about the missing items. The lady on the phone was extremely nice to me and helped me figure out what was missing and got my order corrected! Even when I came in to pick up my items that I was missing the customer service was still on point. Kindness goes a long way! Mistakes happen but they did an amazing job correcting them! China Garden certainly isn't perfect, but it is a very good choice for Chinese food in Yorkville. The prices seem a little steep sometimes, but they're comparable to other restaurants in the area. The food is very good and reliable; it's pretty easy to develop a "usual" here, but don't take that as a lack of variety. The wait is minimal or nonexistent, and you can expect your food to be hot and ready within 5 to 10 minutes (or less depending on your order). The people working are quite friendly and helpful as well. If you're ordering over the phone, you'll want to make sure to ASK for a total; they don't add it up as you order, so request it if you want or need to know. Just FYI: Try the fried rice; it's tastes really good and never seems dried out. I've been ordering takeout and delivery from this place for over 5 years and recently when I went in I was refused the lunch special price because the man behind the counter said it was a holiday and the special pricing was not applicable. ***THE WORST Chinese food ever. Wontons are dry as a fortune cookie and barely any filling. Probably frozen. Fried Rice tastes like burnt pan grease. They charge me $14.22 for $11 worth of small fried rice and small bag of wontons. Then the driver kid comes up with zero personality and zero change ready. I had a $20bill and a quarter, handed him the quarter, then the twenty and he starts walking away..(in my other hand I had a few singles for a tip). Then he had to go to his car and make me wait for change. This place is just over One Mile from my work and he thinks that's worth $6?! I'm bummed out, hungry, and $18 poorer. My husband and I order the lunch menu (which is available mon-sun from 11-3) I get the chicken Lo mein or the sesame chicken. It's always cooked well. Never found anything gross or questionable in my food. They have it ready on time always. Even when they're busy. Our lunch included a very good egg rolls (better than at Joyce lee in my opinion.) We've also dined in. It's small but we're usually in a hurry so we order out a lot. Their prices have gone up a bit but still worth it. They've always gotten my order right. Never forget something. Usually when I order spicy food at Chinese joints, it is basically flavorless so I was surprised at the rounded flavor in the dish and it was just hot enough to get my nose running. This is by far, the worst Chinese food we have ever had. We decided to give this place a shot when we got their menu in the mail. (Being new to the area, we are still finding out what is good or bad in the area) I truly don't know what some of the "meats" were in the house fried rice... It looked like a pale meatball and had the consistency of a dumpling.. The Mongolian beef was a joke, it was 3/4 onions and the meat was disgusting and mostly just chunks of fat. The sweet and sour chicken was just a bunch of breaking and the sauce had the consistency of water. If you put it on a plate with other foods it just flooded the entire plate. The crab rangoons were tiny and tasteless. It might as well have been mayonnaise in the middle. The three of us all agree that the best part of this meal, had to be the Sierra Mist we had delivered with it. The food isn't bad. Especially for being in a small town. Whenever I come to visit my bf and his family we always order delivery. They are pretty quick for it and the people are really nice. My bf's family does order here often too. I usually get the chicken fried rice with brown gravy. Now the brown gravy is really good although the fried rice at a place by where I live is better. But it's not gonna stop me from eating it lol. It's not bad at all though and if your ever in town try it.
