I forgot to take a photo bc everything was so good. The pork egg roll was amazing, so was their roast pork egg fu yung, chicken lo mein, and the hot and spicy beef. Couldn't eat it all , but will make for great lunch tomorrow! My husband said the spicy beef wasn't too spicy but it was flavorful and he liked that it was not too crazy on spice. Highly recommend! @Tarajroth had worked all day today and the only place we found open for dinner was China Gourmet. Two minutes away from home. Christmas Day is rough to find anything open. I ordered the Hot and Spicy Beef combo with fried rice and egg roll. I had to ask for it Asian spicy. Most of the time their spicy is not hot enough for me. @Tarajroth ordered the Hunan Beef and she wanted it spicy as well. The dish traditionally comes spicy but wifey asked for a bit more spice. I guess we were both in a spicy sort of mood. China Gourmet is your usual quick stop for Chinese food. What I like about it tonight was that it wasn't overwhelming salty. I tend to leave Chinese restaurants with a sodium coma. China Gourmet hit the spot tonight. Great food and the young lady at the cashier was very friendly and wished us a Merry Christmas. Whomever is from NYC might proclaim this restaurant the closest thing they've had to real Chinese food in Florida makes me wonder where you are from up north. The food is tasty but far from real Chinese food. The fried dumplings are supposed to be round, steamed then fried, not the frozen, half moon shaped ones. The Chow Fun is supposed to be a doughy wide rice noodle- NOT a glass noodle. Again, the food was tasty but is NOT real Chinese American food found in Chinatown/ North Jersey places. I've been looking for a decent Chinese place that delivers in my area but have yet to find one do I thought I would give this a try. I ordered the chicken with broccoli, it came with fried rice and an egg roll. The rice had absolutely no flavor. The sauce on the chicken with broccoli was bland and runny. The egg roll was decent. I have no complaints here. After reading the other reviews stating how bad this place was, I was skeptical. I'm glad my wife really wanted Chinese though because this place rocked! The service was solid and the food was fresh, hot, and delicious. We both had the General Tso's combo and it was all small pieces that were perfectly cooked and had plenty of sauce on it. My only complaint is that they didn't have air conditioning and it was hot in there. Will return on a future trip to see Mickey. read more

This is a fairly new Chinese restaurant so we figured we'd give it a try. The first couple of times we went, the food was really good. As close to New York style Chinese we've had here in Florida. Third time around, I took a friend to share my new find and the service was a bit off. The girl working the counter was all over the place, mixing up orders and stressed out. I figured she was having a bad day and brushed it off, besides the food was still pretty good. Fourth time around, we decided to have it delivered as we were both tired and just returning home from a long drive. I was put on hold by the same stressed out girl only to get hung up on. When I called back, I was put on hold again, this time by one of the cooks. The girl then picked up the line and I proceeded to give my order. After I thought all was well, I received a call from the delivery person asking for help to find my address. When he repeated the address to me I realized that he had the wrong address and the wrong order but somehow my phone number was assigned to that order. After sifting through the confusion and waiting even longer, the right order showed up to the door. After talking with the delivery person about the whole ordeal, guess who he blamed for the mix up. That's right, the stressed out girl behind the counter. On top of all that, the food was horrible. The flavors of both of our meals tasted watered down and bland and the rice was still hard. The fifth and final time I ordered for delivery again. Nothing changed, I was put on hold several times and it took forever as I had to repeat my order several times. After finally agreeing on my order, I stated that I wanted to pay with a credit card. I was immediately told that paying in cash was better and asked if I had any cash. Now, if I had cash then of course that would be my first method of payment. Besides, I never had a problem paying with a credit card before at this place so why all the fuss now? I decided to cancel the order, ripped up the menu and took my business elsewhere. This used to be our go to place. We would put up with the rude and inattentive service because the food always tasted great. Then one day we stop there to pick up some food, awful service as always but I get my vegetable egg foo yung, sit down and eat the first of the three omelets and then pack the rest of my food to go. It goes straight into my refrigerator when I get home and stays there until that afternoon when I got hungry and went to reheat it. As I'm taking all the components out of the plastic container to place on them on a plate, what do I find in between the remaining two omelets? A dead cockroach. I always figured their kitchen was dirty as is the kitchen of most restaurants but that's just a disgusting low. We haven't been back since and will not be returning...ever. read more

My husband and I have been using China Gourmet to get our Chinese food fix since we moved to the area in October of 2012. The food is very good and always comes to the door hot. We absolutely LOVE that they offer online ordering! We always order the same thing: shrimp lo mein with no vegetables and an egg roll for me and sweet & sour chicken combo for my husband. My only complaint is the very small amount of shrimp in their lo mein. read more

This was a very poor experience when it comes to take out food . They said at ordering time that it would take 30-35 minutes when it actually took them to deliver 1 hour and 5 minutes . to complete the wonderful experience the food tasted nasty and ice cold. the only thing they have going for them is the rice which took a second call to be delivered . this particular restaurant has no sense of customer service. the driver was actually nice when delivering the takeout and the second driver said to many I'm sorry but no compensation was even offered for their mistake and poor service. i'm surprised that with service like tonights they'll survive another 6 months in business.... sincerely A very disappointed first timer. read more
