I went to China House because I'm new to Dunnellon. Big mistake. The restaurant is nasty from the get go. Bathrooms disgusting. I had to wait for someone to come to the window which was ok but please don't let me see you cooking food and smoking. I feel that's unsanitary! The food was very bland and our egg rolls were still cold inside so I guess they are frozen. The rangoons were not fried enough so they were soft almost doughy. The prices online do not match what they charged and how often does your food come to an even $40.00?? Online it said 7.95 for each of the combo meals so $16.00 for the meals and $24.00 for rangoons? Online it says $6.25. So why $40.00? Don't give them a chance it's not worth it. read more

I called ahead to see if they have General Tso's tofu...I'm a vegetarian . They said yes. I told them great I'll call back later to place the order. I ordered it later and when I went to pick it up they added an additional $3 to general Tso's CHICKEN. I did not get chicken. They would not remove the extra fee. Extremely overpriced. They said it was going to be fried, it wasn't. It tasted awful. Then my white rice was pork fried rice! I'm a vegetarian so I had no rice for my meal. For the area this is your standard Americanized Chinese food. The service was quick and we were able to wait around 10 minutes to take our food to go. I did not notice flies or uncleanliness when I walked in. My family and I ordered Orange Chicken, Vegetable Fried Rice and a Sesame Chicken meal that came with an egg roll, 3 pieces of broccoli and pork fried rice. My favorite was the Sesame Chicken. It tasted like your standard basic sesame chicken. It wasn't too oily or greasy and had the perfect amount of sauce. As for the rice, I enjoyed that as well and thought it complimented the sesame chicken well. The orange chicken did have a slight odd flavor and I would not order it again. However both the vegetable and pork fried rice along with the egg roll, broccoli and sesame chicken were good. I would definitely order all of these items again and I recommend you try them as well. I finished more that 3/4 of the sesame chicken meal and it did not give me an upset stomach and I felt perfectly fine after eating it. Once again this is not amazing Chinese food, but it is not bad either. If you live in the area I recommend giving this place a try. read more

During Covid back in May...China House had the door blocked with a table and plastic so that no one could enter. They had a tray for the carryout and a tray for the credit card, which they slid under the plastic. I did not add a tip to the bill, but when the bill appeared on my credit card there was a $7+ tip added on. Rather than dispute it, I decided I was not going to eat there anymore -- they had lost my business. This is a warning to all to watch your credit card statements for overages from the China House. read more

I've gotten take out here probably over 20 times in the past year. It's always ready before I get there, usually under 10 minutes, always under 15 no matter how large the order. The staff has always been friendly and I've never had a messed up order. Not much else to say other than I'm about to order some now :) read more

If I had to sum up the food in two words, it would be bland and overpriced. Their fried rice is nothing more than rice with no taste. No other ingredients. Even the broccoli with my food had no taste. My main course had very little taste. The quality and quantity was not worth what I paid for it. Walked in and ordered. Food was done in about 15 minutes. Got the hot and sour soup, fried dumplings, sweet and sour chicken, and Szechuan pork. Everything was great and the lady who took our order was very nice. Will definitely be my go to Chinese place when I'm in Dunnellon. read more

embarrassed for my company who purchased the meal, just awful. The wonton soup was orange with oily residue, even the wontons were orange, tasted strange. The fried rice had an awful yellow hue and was so dry it stuck in your throat. A family favorite, general tso's chicken was nearly unrecognizable, and the eggrolls contained pure mush. I would have taken it back if I could, do not waste your money, they couldn't pay me to eat here. p.s. the pu pu platter was also unrecognizable, even my dog turned his nose up and walked away. read more

Generals chicken is amazing, as is the sweet and sour chicken, but the crab rangoons are our favorite - we always get two orders.
