So...hey...here's my chance!! I was going to only have a bowl of Hot & Sour Soup and a bowl of Wonton Soup. But the price of that would have been about a dollar cheaper than the buffet, so I went for the buffet. Unfortunately, I didn't take a photo of the buffet. Stopped here for lunch on our way from Lincoln NE to Keystone SD. Average Chinese food on a very limited selection buffet. It cost us $35 for the two of us and we drank a Pepsi and a water. If we weren't starving I would have given it just two stars. read more

Not much in terms of food in this town (vegan food in particular). They had two tofu dishes on their menu as well as vegetable spring rolls. It was cheap and fast and the portions were large (got two meals out of my order of garlic tofu & spring rolls). Busiest place in town but probably cause it was one of the only places open. Food was okay but nothing to get excited about. Some of it tasted old and the beef was not beef. Went here because there's nothing but burger joints in this area and we wanted something different. Ordering went fine, our food came out decently quick but there was hair in the rice and some of the vegetables weren't cooked long enough and were extremely tough. Our family was surprised and happy to find a vegetarian- and vegan-friendly Chinese place in this area while traveling. The hot and sour soup was nice. We also had three different tofu and veggie dishes. Just a heads up, if you don't eat eggs... the rice they serve with the dishes is fried rice (with egg) as opposed to plain white rice. read more

The staff were extremely rude. The bathroom was disgusting. The beef and broccoli smelled like the bathroom. The chicken started meowing at me. Most people love their buffet, and I do too, but their cashew chicken off the menu is the bomb. Large portions, good flavors, and good service. I love China House. The buffet offers soups (egg drop and sweet and sour), egg rolls, crab angels, sesame chicken, honey crystal chicken, beef and broccoli, shrimp, white and fried rice, lo mein, beef on a stick, peppered beef with veggies, fried sugared donuts, and ice cream. The staff was very rude, and practically ignored our party of five. However they were very courteous and promptly favored other customers. So my advice would be if you are person of color don't go to the China house. They are clearly prejudice against people of color. And the city of Chadron should be ashamed, considering the diverse collegiate study body attending the University. All students of Chadron should spend your business money elsewhere, stand up against prejudice and bigotry in any form. read more

Also, thought it was weird that the staff would sit there and watch you eat as they gossip back and fourth to each other in a different language. I eat a lot of authentic chinese all over the place. I came in here on a lark when we were in Chadron last summer. I got the 2nd best fried rice I've ever had. I still can't believe it. It was just perfect. It even had iceberg lettuce in it...which is legit. I want to go back to Chadron to eat it again. I have a whim if you asked them to make ma po dofu or something like that it would be amazing. I do that a lot in little towns and have about a 50% success rate. Seriously good fried rice. Food was surprisingly tasty for a small town in Nebraska in the Chinese food arena. Everything and everyone were authentic Asian. The spring rolls were delicious as well as the wonton soup and crab angels. The place is dated, but I really enjoyed the food, the most important part, right! Also a plus was restroom was very clean and everything worked. Deciding to eat Chinese food in Chadron Nebraska is about as daring as jumping off the Empire State Building without a parachute but I hadn't eaten in 200 miles and was passing through town on a slow Sunday. It was basically this place or the Golden Arches and I felt like trying something new. There were actually cars in the parking lot so my party ventured in. The buffet was $8.75 and lined the back wall. There are no noodles and duck sauce on the table and that phenomenon is getting harder and harder to find these days. The first thing I tried was the egg roll. I asked for some duck sauce and was told they didn't have any. Isn't that like a Chinese restaurant not having soy sauce? There was only one ingredient in the egg roll which had no taste so I couldn't tell you what it was. It was also very small and thin. They had hot and sour soup which was developing a film from lack of attention. Wanton soup was not to be found. The Sweet and Sour chicken was standard but didn't excite there or anywhere. Not a single seafood dish was on the buffet. The shrimp breaded and fried with their shells on didn't count because who is going to sit and peel a shrimp after it is cooked? Why would anyone want chicken fried rice which is only on a buffet because the owner are too cheap to serve pork. The chicken was the standard, I don't know what this is but it is not chicken and this mystery meat was in about 4 different dishes. The rest did not elicit memories worthy of writing but registered poor in quality. I am sure you can find worse chinese food if you tried hard but this place should only be considered if you are totally desperate, like say if you some how found yourself in Chadron, Nebraska. read more

I have gotten several of their dishes, and although the spicy dishes aren't as spicy as I'd like, the food itself is flavorful and delicious. The spicy Mongolian beef and spicy peanut chicken in particular are quite good. On weeknights, they have an all-you-can-eat buffet for $10, which is a heck of a deal for the variety and quality of food available. Also the staff was very friendly and attentive. read more

Okay. I went through the ringer of making an account just to get the word out here. This was by far the absolute worst chinese food I've ever had. I'm not some privileged clown, here. I've had mess deck food, MRE's, and cart food in Indonesia. I have a complete and intimate understanding of low quality. I don't live in Chadron and I was a guest here, so I powered through the experience. When you first walk into the place, the atmosphere might strike you as "weird." It feels like a daycare kinda. This is normal, apparently. In any case, there is a small buffet bar along the outer wall - a lone 8ft counter of implicitly warm goo-glazed food. Grabbing my plate, I almost dropped it due to the oily film remaining; a clear indication that the dishwasher is due for a cleaning and soap reload. The Chinese cuisine basics were all there: I went with the things you "couldn't mess up." Egg roll, crab rangoon, lo mein, and sesame chicken. The egg roll was full of scalding cabbage and not much else. The burn was beneficial, I would later discover, as it destroyed a good deal of taste buds before my mouth decided reenact the Invasion of Normandy. The rest of the food was room temperature. And the room was cold, so that's a thing. I chewed on the sesame chicken (AKA caramelized MSG-batter) for about 20 seconds before giving up and moving on to overcooked noodles and a rangoon with an astounding lack of crab. My dad returned with his plate, pulled apart what was supposed to be chicken on a stick, and put it back down. I had never seen meat look like that in my life. The visuals effectively ended my meal. The only reason this rating has one star is because it's been 2 days and I have yet to develop food poisoning. That one lonely star is for my lucky bowels. read more
