Chadron. Been to Nebraska before. Not to this Nebraska. Big city. Not small town. Small enough that if you're driving and blink, you'll blow right through. Anyway, on last summer's road trip or quest to visit all 50 US States, made a stop here for the evening to break up the drive. This was the only restaurant that my friend and could decided was worth trying. Not that the places are bad - we just didn't want bar/fast food. And it was fine. Everything was fine. Parking was easy. Main street. There was so many spaces because most everything was closed. Except the restaurants and theater. Place was busy. Not so busy there was a wait but enough that it was a little on the loud side. Service was standard - I wouldn't say it wasn't friendly or attentive - everything was handled smooth and quickly. Just not a lot of chit chat and didn't really need much as far as refills or condiments go. Food was ok too. Huge portions. See pics. Friend and I split the shrimp fajitas and I devoured the chips and salsa. I did have to ask for a hotter version as the "house" salsa is perfect for those who can't handle the heat. Also wanted to mention, the frozen margarita was nice and boozy. Not overly - but enough that you could taste the tequila and it lingers for a little while. As for the main dish, good. Standard - and this is coming from someone who lives in SoCal. Don't know if I would ever be back in Chadron but if you're on the road and in need of some decent Mexican in NE - it's not bad. Come here once a year for a work meeting and is great! Everyone Get the Cadillac Margarita...Amazing! The top shelf has tonic water for some reason that is not good. All the food items are amazing and lots of options. The place has a good Mexican vibe! Highly recommend trying this Mexican restaurant!!! read more

It's not impressive on the outside, but don't let this steer you away. The food is fresh and so flavorful. We had the quesadilla lunch special, the Huevos Rancheros, the burritos and chimichanga. All were served steaming hot. This was worth the drive from South Dakota too. read more

Ordered a dip and nachos. Absolutely disgusting. if you want microwaved three day old tortila chips, drizzled with government cheese...then this is your spot. Get drunk folks before you order. That way when the funky pile of "pretend food" arrives, you might enjoy this poison. read more

Great food. Have never had anything I didn't like. Food came out quickly and hot. Everything was fresh and had great flavor. Staff is very friendly and attentive. They do an awesome job helping you celebrate your birthday! They do a fantastic job keeping the restaurant very clean. It is decorated very well also. They recently redecorated and looks great. For the town of Chadron, it's pretty tough to beat Molcajete's. Fast service, decent food, classic small town Mexican. Not spicy, but I suspect you can order it that way. Main Street has convenient, available parking. read more

Very colorful decor! A friendly host met us immediately as we walked in. We were seated and had chips and salsa right away and our drinks came quickly. Our server/host took our food order and it came out fast. Burrito Bowl and Taco salad. Food and drinks were very good and server/ host very nice. We were in town for a beauty pageant that our daughter was to perform at and had some time to kill and decided to give Molcajete's a try. We were HUGE fans of Angela's, the former restaurant that used to occupy this space. Our food was good, but nothing made it stand apart from any other Mexican restaurant we've ate at in the past. However, service was definitely lacking. Our waiter was not personable and did nothing beyond the bare minimum that I would expect from any waiter. Overall this was an underwhelming experience, especially considering the excellent food and service we received at the prior establishment in this location. read more

Wow!! Arguably some of the best Mexican food I've ever had. That's saying something being from Vegas & So. Cal. Adorably decorated inside, with friendly, fast service. High quality ingredients exquisitely prepared. We had the chicken fajitas and a dish whose name I can't remember. It had chorizo and chicken in it. Both were scrumptious! Loved the crispy chips & salsa that didn't burn my mouth. Don't miss this place if you are anywhere in the area. A real Diamond in a small, college town. read more

Food here is pretty great and being from Texas born and bread we always compare the salsa. There salsa is almost there. Needs more heat in my opinion, but food is great, service is on point, everyone is so attentive to the customers needs. Clean place with a good atmosphere. read more

Was not expecting it in rural Nebraska but wow this was some of the best Mexican food I've ever had. The inside was festive and open and the staff was very attentive and friendly. The prices were appropriate and the portions were generous. Will have to come back here for the fresh food at Molcajete's when I pass through the area again! read more

every time we go there the waiters(Guys). always seem grouchy and I'm welcoming. we won't be going there anymore we've definitely given them enough chances. food. mediocre. if you want to go to a place that makes you feel welcome and the food blows this place out of the water!!
