China King in Alton, dreadful customer service. The man taking the order was extremely rude when ordering and then we got there to pickup and the Prices don't match their menu, we were charged almost TRIPLE the website prices. I will NEVER order from them again. Buyers beware Posting photos of the REAL menu prices for anyone that goes there (their website is NOT accurate)

As the saying goes, "Once you've been to this place, you've been to them all". That holds true for China King, as I've been to four locations. Not that its a bad thing! The food is still hot and fresh, and the decor is the same. Yes, at times the staff can be rude. But they'll run your food out to you if you're eating in. I always get the Shrimp Lo Mein, which is not found on the menu but they still have it. I also dig their General Tsos and their crab rangoon. I also like that they have fountain soda, unlike most Chinese places. Best place to go if you're not in a "Chinese buffet mood".

Lady there gives very poor customer service. Decent food, fried rice could be better. Egg rolls,General tso chicken are excellent.

I think sometime in the near future, I'll try dining in. I frequently change my entree, but I always get one egg roll and an order of crab rangoon. The egg roll is larger than most Chinese restaurants. I like that it's super crispy and the inside is packed full. The crab rangoon comes with four pieces and they'll ask you if you want a side of sweet & sour sauce. If you say yes, you'll get a small cup of the red sauce like when you order Sweet & Sour Pork or Chicken. They don't give you those small packets like other restaurants. My usual go to entrees are always Beef and Broccoli or General Tso's Chicken. Both of them are very good. I do the B&B when I'm trying to eat healthy Chinese. The beef is tender and the broccoli is soft, but still has a little snap to it. When enjoying the Beef and Broccoli, I have white rice. The General Tso's Chicken has a lite crispy coating and the sauce blends perfectly with fried rice, instead of white rice. Service is over the top friendly. My order for the evening was; Beef & Broccoli with Fried Rice. I also had, Crab Rangoon (4) and an Egg Roll. The egg roll was super crisp and filling was packed tight. I loved the crunch when I bit into it. The crab rangoon pockets were filled with the creamy sauce and fried to a soft golden color. The Beef and Broccoli was a nice change from my typical order of General Tso. The beef and broccoli was tossed in a rich beef sauce and also had sliced carrots. Both veggies were prepared to the point where they were soft, but still had a good snap. The beef was super, super tender. There was so much sauce, I scooped some it over the fried rice for extra flavor. The staff is super perky. They all said, hello and welcome when I entered the restaurant. Even the cooks, greeted me. I like how you can see into the kitchen from the ordering counter, it is super clean and that makes me feel good. I pass two other Chinese restaurants on my way to Hong Kong House, but it is worth the drive. They have an app for ordering and rewards and I'll be downloading it, very soon.

However, I remember it as being a decent place to dine with a good amount of selection and fair prices. Upon entering, I was quite surprised to see that their pricing was still reasonable, however I didn't understand the upcharge for Sunday vs. the weekly buffet price as nothing on that Sunday buffet reflected an upcharge type dish in the slightest. Upon my first trip up to the buffet, I was a bit surprised to see that literally not one item on that buffet had changed in the past 7 years. I guess any kind of variety is out with this place or they don't know how to prepare anything else. At 11 am with a very light crowd present, all of the food was cold, completely unacceptatble having only opened at 10:30 am! Honestly I think the General Tso was the only item I had that was luke warm besides my bowl of soup. Many of the buffet dishes appeared to be leftover from the previous evening - - a good cook can tell what's fresh vs. leftover. The crab ragoons were tough and chewy a telltale sign of having been reheated. The egg rolls appeared to be refried as they were exceptionally dark brown in color. Literally no one was touching them either. The "fresh" seasoned green beans were all shriveled up. The lo mein noodles were swollen, having clearly soaked up all the juices/sauce from being stored and re-served. I think you get the picture here. I guess one might get food that is fresh and warm after all the leftovers have been eaten up by the victims dining at opening time. Good luck with your experience. Also, this place is exceptionally dirty and ran down with black mold on the walls and ceiling. It desperately needs a coat of paint, some new ceiling tiles, flooring, and lighting upgrades. . . fairly inexpensive upgrades and things you think would have changed somewhere along the way in the past 7 years since my last visit.

It kind of makes it a hidden treasure and I'm glad that I found it. My visit was during a Saturday lunch and I was impressed. I started my meal with Fried Spring Rolls filled with vegetables and served Thai Sweet Chili Sauce. They were a thin crisp shell, that still gave a nice crunch when bitten into. The sauce was a accompaniment. For an entree I chose, Drunken Noodles and added Beef for my protein. I was torn between Pad Thai and the Drunken Noodle and when I asked my server, she said their most popular dish was Drunken Noodles. Then when I went to add my protein it was between chicken and beef. She said beef was her favorite add, so I went with her recommendation. Once my entree arrived to the table I was surprised by its size. It was huge. It was so big, it could have been a meal for two. Guess who had leftovers for lunch the next day. The noodles were flavorful and lots of tender beef and had plenty of veggies. My spice level was 3 out of 5 and I still was sweating along my hairline. Next visit I may have to scale back to a two. The service was attentive and the young lady who was my server, had a bubbly personality. I also had a young man who brought me my order, checked on me and I wasn't even his table.
