The General's chicken was tough-overcooked or, more likely, cooked a second time. The pork fried rice was so bland that even soy sauce couldn't make it flavorful. I thought the meal could be saved by the egg rolls but they were bland and the skins were tough also. The portions were good sized and the gentleman who took our order was courteous and friendly. It was HUGE yet all of the employees kept walking past it as if they didn't see it. Nearly every other time since then I have gotten nasty barely chew-able (reheated?) chicken, or stale tasting rice, or burnt egg rolls. Chicken was all white meat, not like the others that use cheaper dark meat. Coating was crispy like it is supposed to be and they actually used orange peel. Serving size was generous and price was 5.55 for lunch. I will be going back there frequently. Business is the usual counter order with a few tables. Very clean but they suffer from the usual faded color pictures of entrees and paper lanterns covered with dust. Windows had grime from the kitchen smoke. But that is to be expected. Bathroom was clean and had a changing table but only because the cook had an infant. The lady at the counter was Chinese but spoke English very well. Seriously freshest and tastiest Chinese in the area! I would eat here daily if my waist would allow it. My favorite are their cream cheese rangoons. They actually have filling (unlike a few of the other competitors in the area). The Singapore Mei Fun is amazing, as well as the General Tso. My boyfriend enjoys the Pepper Steak and Onions. I had lunch here yesterday. I had Singapore Mei Fun which is a rice noodle dish with chicken, pork, egg, scallions, and shrimp. It comes in a curry sauce which I asked for it to me medium as opposed to spicy. The food was excellent, The girl taking the order was efficient, polite, and friendly. But as far as the food it was really good, it was hot, fresh, and fairly quick for a cook to order carry out restaurant. I stopped in to order Moo Shu Beef for a treat for my wife after being locked down for 3 months. We missed our aniversary dinner 2 weeks ago. I never visited this place before. Our usual takeout Chinese restaurant in Umatilla is closed. When I arrived home and set the dinner out with rice pancakes, I noticed it was mainly coarse cabbage tough and nearly raw. There was no Hoisen sauce, just a thin soy type liquid. We tried to eat it but it was too tough. The cook apparently has never even seen Moo Shu to know how to cook it much less prepare it for takeout. I cooked for awhile it to make it possible to chew, although my wife just returned most of it to the container and ate only enough spoon fulls to prevent hunger. She said I could take it to work for lunch tomorrow, and the next day, etc. It was the worst Chinese dish I have ever purchased in my 65 years. Bad enough to consider throwing it in the trash. Beyond just bad and I am not that picky. When the cook is off on a Sunday, don't ever consider this place. read more

I don't know...Last year I posted highest ratings because it was good. But I was there yesterday and last month and found the food to be mediocre. My chicken was over fried and stuck together. The flavor was supermarket level. I usually eat half and take the remainder home with me. This time I ate half and left the rest behind. Bathroom was a 7 on a 10 scale. Curb appearance was not good at all, lighted sign is red and of course red in florida just doesnt last. Led lights are partly working. Interior lacks charm and confidence in the food. I think the chicken is probably exclusively dark meat, its cheaper. Portions are more than adequate, but not able to offset the quality of the food and appearance of the establishment. I no longer recommend going here. I will go back to my old places in Eustis and Mount Dora. I think the people who work at China King may be burning out on the job. It's understandable.
