Beef Lo Mein

I ordered the Beef Lo Mein. I was shocked with how big the portion was. It's my first time ordering Lo Mein and I am a huge fan!

Should have an overall 5 star rating, best Chinese around. Many a solemn Sunday have been saved by the King.

Check your order before you leave the store and pray you don't have a 6" hair in your food as well...

Food was tasteless, and was not good. I have eaten here for last 10 years and the food has gotten worse. Very disappointing

Excellent food, and excellent service. My family has now sworn off of all other local Chinese restaurants. China King is the one and only.

The lady working the counter and cooking is a nice older lady and we usually talk about the weather. The store has a picture of an elk in front of an American flag and it always gets a chuckle from me. Store ambiance is that of a neighborhood Chinese place and that's a bit comforting for me.

It does not look like much and is definitely not on the better side of town. The place offers a…read morevery American Chinese menu, but it was pretty long on the vegetable and tofu side compared to a lot of cheap Chinese joints, which is what inspired me to give them a try. And their Kung Pao tofu delivered all that I could have hoped of it. A packed full container of finely cubed fried tofu (one hack for anyone that doesn't know how to make tofu taste good: you should probably cut it smaller to give it more surface area to absorb whatever sauce you're cooking it in) as well as some diced carrots, baby corn, and quite a lot of peanuts in a brown sauce with just a bit of spice. I also got some sesame noodles, which is one of the more basic versions of the dish I've had, which is basically just noodles with a dollop of spiced peanut butter to spread around and coat them with. This probably sounds like a dig, but it's pretty satisfying and the noodles themselves had a nice soft texture. It was, as I would expect, a ton of food for the money. Basically the whole interior of this little building was devoted to what looked like a clean and organized kitchen. Fancy? Authentic? No, but American Chinese cuisine is a subculture of its own, and this seems a good example of it. I definitely think it would be worth returning to try their other tofu dishes.

I gave a five star because I wanted people to read this, this has been one of my favorite places to…read moreeat for nearly 10 years. But what happened recently I cannot unsee. I'm sitting there eating, and of course, it has very dim lighting, next thing I know, crawling up the wall next to me comes Mr. cockroach. I can't go back. I just can't. All I can think about now is that under that dark table there are roaches crawling around on my feet, up my leg, and down the wall. I was terrified they were crawling into my purse.

Visited Paradise Cafe recently and had a mixed experience. The space itself feels a bit dated and…read morequite heavy... the lighting is very dark, and even moving the dining chairs felt a bit difficult. A lighter, refreshed atmosphere would go a long way. I ended up ordering a few appetizers. The Hot & Sour Soup was the standout... flavorful, comforting, and easily a 5/5 on a cold n wet day. Unfortunately, the rest didn't quite hit the mark. The shrimp rolls were below average... mostly lettuce, the shrimps were dried out, and they took about 10 extra minutes to come out. The crab rangoon was the biggest disappointment; the filling had an unpleasant smell and tasted like heavy, clotted cream cheese and there wasn't even an iota of imitation crab meat to justify that name. My friends ordered egg rolls, which actually looked pretty good (I'd say a solid 4/5), and Singapore noodles, which unfortunately looked underwhelming. Overall, there are a few bright spots, especially the soup, but the food quality and atmosphere were inconsistent. With some updates and more attention to freshness and flavor, this place could really improve.
