New to Patchogue, I had to find good Chinese take out as it is one of my favorite meals. I explored Yelp and found this gem. I called in my order for take out and within 10 minutes it was ready. I ordered pork dumplings which are my favorite and a shrimp and broccoli lunch special. Lunch specials come with soup, soda or an egg roll. I chose soup. The pork dumplings were great! Delivery- great, fast and hot, packed well. Portion size - great Food quality - not that good. Chicken very tough, beef 50/50 and shrimp were ok. Chinese vegetables literally 1 snow pea and a lot of the white part of bok Choy - no green, no baby corn, not even scallions. Sauces were overly sweet and too thick particularly the honey walnut shrimp, thick like frosting insanely sweet and topped with candied walnuts- we brushed all of that off to be able to eat the shrimp. Fried rice was yellow, not brown- no idea why, tasted ok slightly bland. Shrimp toast tasted a little old and way too well done. Spring rolls and egg rolls were both good! Food is absolutely delicious! I will say, the shrimp toast was absolutely terrible and I would avoid getting it, but I still say 5 stars because everything else was so so so good. First time ordering take out here... Food was fresh and tasty and filled our Chinese food cravings. We hadn't gotten Chinese food in a long time and took a chance on this place. We had gotten shrimp with lobster sauce over pork fried rice and boneless spare ribs over lo mein. Accompanied by shrimp egg rolls, since it was a combo meal. My usual Chinese Rest went under new ownership about a year or so ago so I went on a search to find a new take out place. After many many take outs fr various restaurants China King is the absolute best. I've ordered various soups, meals and appetizers and all were delicious fr China King (although I wish they would be more authentic with their fried rice and add bean sprouts and egg to it). The chicken dishes are "real" chicken not like some places that keep you wondering if it's chicken or not, the veggies are fresh and everything is flavorful. After reading reviews about China King, I ordered some food about an hour before closing on my way home one night. Everything I ordered was fresh and delicious!! Even the fried rice tasted as if it had just been made! Nothing was greasy, like some restaurant food can get, or overcooked! The hot & sour soup could have had a little more flavor, but was still good. The ribs I got with the combo meal were also freshly made. Heck, even the fried egg roll was good and didn't seem like it was soaking in oil! The staff were very nice & the restaurant seemed very clean & well organized. This little Chinese joint tucked into a dated strip mall is a diamond in the rough. Nestled off of busy 112 in heart of drive through Long Island country, this place is definitely the best Chinese food in Patchogue. There is nothing special to say about the menu choices, I think all Chinese places have the same menu. The food is high quality, fresh, and delicious. It isn't overly greasy or rubbery like some other not so great places. The store is very clean and appears to be family owned and run. The service is prompt and courteous and they speak proficient English and they are easy to understand(Maybe that sounds weird but it matters to me). Drink selection is limited to soda, water and Gatorade, they probally have good tea but I'm not sure. Don't pass this place by if you're in the mood for some good ole' Chinese food. read more

Wonton soup is awful. Thick doughy wontons. They used the same gooey wontons when I ordered steamed dumplings too. Really gross.

Can I just say this place is amazing, their food is delicious. Their food is very well cooked I couldn't eat at that place all the time their food is amazing especially their steamed vegetables. Inconsistent and disappointing. "China King," also known as the "New China King" since their grand reopening is significantly lacking in quality and flavor. Today I ordered the boneless ribs with pork fried rice and they were terrible. In addition to both having no flavor, the ribs were tough and over cooked and the rice too mushy with almost no pork at all. We'll never eat here again, and unless this place can find a competent and skilled chef to work their kitchen, they won't be able to keep up with the competition in this town... This is our go to place at home and at work and for good reason! They deliver to us at work when we put in a lunch order. Everyone loves them. Food is excellent , and the service is so fast we joke about that the food is there before we even hang up lol. Restaurant is always clean the few times I've actually picked up the food. These guys are no joke when it comes to efficiency. I could place an order for an egg roll or I could order half the menu. Always 10 minute. Delivery is spot on and always get the order right. Delivery guy always comes in and has a quick beer before he heads back to head quarters. Also he helped me set up my new bookshelf. It woulda taken me hours but with his help we finished in a solid 1 hour and a half. Tried to give him some cash but he didn't accept and just enjoyed the beers and time we spend setting up this bookshelf. Love this place!! read more

I'm actually surprised by the mixed reviews here. We've been going to China King for years, in between trying other places. We haven't found a better place. Since being taken over they have cleaned up the place and did some remodeling. They are always extremely friendly and welcoming. I feel that the food quality is still the same, if not better. They always accommodate my requests, no questions asked. As a vegetarian I have never had issues with cross contamination like I have at other area restaurants. The food we order is always fresh and hot (vegetarian and non-vegetarian) and prices are fair. If you haven't tried this place it's definitely worth the try. read more
