Everything was fresh hot and made the way it was supposed to taste. The staff is friendly and attentive. Egg rolls were crispy and tasty The general tao chicken was crispy on the outside, tender on the inside with an extremely flavorful sauce. We consider ourselves to be Chinese food, snobs, and very particular. We are new to the Mount Sinai area and we weren't not happy with any of the takeout place. If you can overlook the weathered decor, you will find some of the best Cantonese food in the area...in a sitdown restaurant! We had tried GC years ago and didnt return till last year and found that the food had improved tremendously. To start we had egg rolls..very good and filled with delights. Hot and Sour Soup was great one visit and so so the next..They need to improve continuity so that its the same every visit...same for the Orange Beef..1st time tried steak was delish...next time good but not as good! Shrimps in Garlic Sauce was 8/10. Be sure and get the Pistachio ice cream for dessert 10/10! Our server Leo was a great asset in helping to insure we knew what we were ordering and made sure we got it! Ordered take-out here for the first time. Doesn't look like much from the outside but the food is amazing. Who ever answered the phone took my order and repeated the order to make sure the "special order" was correct. Ordered Miso soup which was full of tofu and seaweed!! Ordered a few sushi rolls for two and enjoyed each one. Will definitely order from here again. We tried this place for the first time about two months ago. We have been back six times and brought people with us. The food is delicious. The service is excellent. The decor is reminiscent of my family's favorite place when I was growing up. The portions are a good size for the lunch specials. They make delicious crispy noodles with duck sauce, which they put on the table immediately and then they bring you a nice pot of hot tea. The sesame chicken is one of our favorite dishes. It's been a busy holiday season, and my parents decided, for the first time in my 40- er, I mean, 30-something years of life that they did not want to cook on Christmas Day and that we should eat out. Naturally our first thought was Chinese food, but all of our go-to Chinese places are little more than a counter, and it seems that these days it's hard to find one with actual seating. We'd never been to Golden Chopsticks before, but I picked it based on its appearance in pictures of having a rather large dining room with ample tables. When we arrived it was packed as expected, and festively decorated. We waited about 20 minutes for a table- not bad given the day!- and our order was taken pretty promptly. The food menu is extensive, and there is also a full bar menu with cocktails, etc. The latter was a nice surprise, as my mom had mused in the car on the way over that it had been years since she'd had a Mai tai with a little paper umbrella- and she was able to order exactly that! The food was good and the portions generous. I don't want to go into specific details about the dishes, as the staff was absolutely swamped, and I feel it would not be fair to nit pick on one of the busiest days on the year. Suffice to say that we enjoyed our first visit and will definitely be going back well before next Christmas. (And who knows, maybe next Christmas also.) read more

So sad to say this as we loved having lunch here. But the quality is just not there anymore. We loved their wonton soup, thin noodle wontons. But today they were terrible, old dried out meat in lukewarm peppered broth. Eggroll was the best thing we had, not greasy. Shrimp toast greasy and burnt. My husband had the shrimp in lobster sauce, shrimp were mushy. I had General Taos Chicken, the chicken was very stringy and tough to eat. I brought it home my husband tried it and then we threw it out. They have kept their prices low but sacrificed the quality. Please raise your prices and improve the quality so we can return. Really couldn't decide between a 3.5 and a 4 but I went with the four cause honestly this was some of the best Chinese food I've ever had. The egg rolls were delicious and my pad Thai was pretty good. The prawns that came with my pad Thai were cooked perfectly but the rest of the dish fell a little short in terms of flavor. Portions are large so you definitely leave full and with a doggy bag. The rest of my party got sushi, scallion pancakes, and soups, all looked delicious but I didn't sample any. We have eaten at GC many many times over the years and have enjoyed the food. Tonight we both decided to try something new and were very disappointed. I decided to order Ginger & Scallion Stir Fry with shrimp which was supposed to be spicy. It not only wasn't at all spicy but it had a teeny bit of ginger taste. It was LOADED with onions, a few green pepper squares and three red ones. There was plenty of shrimp so that is the only good thing I can say about this dish. My husband had Seafood World and this had even less taste than mine. Actually the dishes looked almost identical except he had pea pods. I went here yesterday. This restaurant was once a diner, but once inside, you know it's a Chinese restaurant. We went at lunchtime and ordered from the lunch menu and also a couple of apps. The prices are very very good for lunch, and the portions are huge. You get a choice of soup and also fried, white or brown rice. I started with egg drop soup. It's different than most restaurants. It was actually a little orange in color and had a spicy kick to it. I enjoyed it. Next I was served an egg roll. You can tell they make their own. All the veggies inside were super fresh and the wrapper itself was crunchy and soft. I ordered the pad Thai. Again, super fresh and served with three nice sized shrimp. Delicious. Also ordered at my table was hot and sour soup, egg foo young, amazing fried rice and beef sticks. Everything was delicious and no one complained. I hope to go back one day. read more

Usually I'm not over in the area but I happened to be over there this afternoon and decided to stop in for lunch as it was a cute looking place. So glad I did. They have a lunch special section so I decided on that. When you sit down you are immediately greeted with a pot of hot Chinese tea and a plate of fried chow mein noodles with sweet and sour sauce. Usually I don't drink hot tea but this tea was so flavorful. The fresh fried chow mein noodles were delicious as well. I ordered the chicken and broccoli with pork fried rice and hot and sour soup. The soup was so savory with a little spice. They even put enoki mushrooms in it!!! The chicken and broccoli then showed up. The chicken was so soft!! No chewing required. We have dinner here on Friday nights on a pretty regular basis in the fall, winter, and early spring. This is our first time here this season but nothing has changed. Menu and specials have not changed in years and are still the same this year. Interior is a little tired and I noticed that the AC vents could use some cleaning. Next, parking.. although on a corner there is one way in and out, very tight and parking is very difficult to say the least. Finally, seems like their customer base are all seniors. Hmmm, does that include me? So why 4 Stars you ask? Food is always consistent, and we've never waited very long to get served. Ugh. Several years ago, I received bad sushi from Golden Chopsticks. It took me at least one year to actually summon up the mental fortitude to try raw fish again. Since then, I've order sushi from many places and enjoy most of it. Then, tonight happened. I figured it's been a while. I figured that they haven't closed down, so maybe it was a bad night. I figured I try them again. I called to place my order and was received by possibly the most rude person I've ever ordered from. I ordered the Coconut Chicken from their Thai dishes and a Dragon roll. I picked it up, drive home cursing myself for not saying something to the manager about the discourteous service on the phone. I open the bag and there's my Coconut Chicken, smelling divine. The other bag contained a fish order. I knew it smelled wrong before opening the bag. Cooked eel should not smell like rotting fish. I opened the bag to find no Dragon roll (as I had ordered), but the sashimi order the waiting gentleman before me is still probably waiting for.
