    Chicken and Broccoli

I've been coming here from long ago, when it was by The Chancery. Time to review the newer place. Are the egg rolls worth the hype? Ab- so- f'n-lootely!! Just look at my photo! Deli shoes to the extreme. Best in south eastern Wisconsin. I had Generals chicken, wife had chicken and broccoli. Pan fried noodles and standard rice. All delicious and high quality. Portions go crazy. My favorite Chinese food restaurant!!Nostalgia and quality still intact. There may be better to others, but not to me

The owners were so nice that they let us sit down to eat our food because usually they only have dine in for lunch time. They made sure we had a nice place to sit at bar and both dishes with the veggie egg rolls were delicious too! I really enjoyed my experience eating all that hot and fresh ingredient cuisines with beef stir fry and Singapore curry noodles! They even gave us some left over fresh sesame orange chicken for free. Overall it was 40$ for those three items but it was totally worth it and I would go back for a lunch special!

    Fish tank

Food is consistently excellent but it is quite disturbing to see the overcrowded small fish tank. Ten fish in cramped quarters, constantly bumping into each other. My husband refuses to sit where he can see them, and we overheard another customer saying the same yesterday.

Hong Ahn Palace does not disappoint. Ever. I have no issues traveling 30 min for a great egg roll and this is where we get them. The soups are pure comfort and entree portions are super generous. Amazing food. Pro tip: get there early as it gets busy fast.

The restaurant is in a tucked away strip mall and is modest in size and decor. The strip mall also contains hidden treasures like a Chinese bakery/BBQ and an Asian store. We went early on a Saturday evening with friends. The service was excellent, although with some staff there were language hurdles. No matter - everyone made it work and we were left with an abundance of amazing food at a reasonable price. Wine and beers are served, as well as smoothies and other non-alcoholic drinks. BF ordered crab rangoon as a starter, which was good. He liked it more than I did, but it was nice and crispy. I just didn't think it compared to other dishes. My vegetable egg roll was very good as well, but nothing terribly unique. He went bold on the entree and ordered the pork intestine and blood cake dish. He really enjoyed it and said it was quite spicy. The portions are generous and he did bring a lot home. I ordered the homestyle tofu, which normally has pork. I got it without to make it vegetarian friendly. The textures were very good and the sauce was intensely flavorful, but mild. I also ordered a supplementary dish of braised mushrooms and Shanghai greens. Everyone at the table enjoyed this dish, particularly the greens, which are a variety of bok choy, called pac choy. The mushrooms were wonderful, with the texture of wood ears. I also had plenty of leftovers to eat the next day. Our friends ordered the Szechuan spicy pork dumplings and they got rave reviews. My cousin did say they were not overly spicy. She went on to order the sizzling black pepper beef, which she said was good, but not nearly as unique or deeply flavored as the other dishes. Her husband ordered the pork intestine with clear noodles, which he enjoyed but said was extremely spicy. He did leave a lot of sauce behind since it was so hot. He also had the ox tendon and maw in spicy sauce, which came with chopped peanuts on top. He seemed really pleased with that dish. We agreed that we would happily go back to explore the menu more. Everything was excellent and I thought the prices were generally quite reasonable, especially for the quantity of food. I do wish the menu had more descriptive text, so I could familiarize myself with the dishes. The choices are many and overwhelming and the menu is huge. I'd also love to see a symbol for vegetarian options since it's very hard to know otherwise and many of the vegetable dishes included pork or other meat. As we left the restaurant was getting increasingly busy with people waiting by the door for seats. This is a popular place for good reason.

The Spicy Pork Dumplings have become my go-to appetizer, and the fried spring rolls are also very good. On a most recent visit, we ordered hot pot. Our server brought us the sheet to make our selections. You can choose from mild broth, spicy broth, or half tray of each. The spicy is pretty hot with lots of red chili peppers soaking in it, so I scooped out the chili peppers to keep rhe flavor but lessen the impact on my palate. For 2 guests, I recommend choosing 3 items from the list, maybe 2 protein and one veggie or 2 veggie and one protein to start. You can order more if you finish and need more. This is in addition to the two appetizers you will choose, which is included with rhe hot pot dinner. It's a great value! Sze Chuan remains on my short list of go-to's for Chinese dining, and I look forward to my next visit, whenever that may be.

I never remember, though, if I like their egg rolls and that's what I primarily measure a Chinese restaurant by. While in town for a recent appointment I rectified that by ordering a pork egg roll and a shrimp egg roll for pickup. The pork egg roll has similar ingredients to a grocery store quality egg roll (pork, carrots, cabbage) thus the flavor isn't far off from one, but the pork is a much better quality than the mush in a store bought egg roll. Not my favorite pork egg roll ever, but certainly adequate. The shrimp egg roll is slightly thicker than the pork egg roll and seems to have the same base ingredients as the pork egg roll, but it doesn't have the hint of grocery store bought flavor that the pork egg roll has. For being thicker than the pork egg roll, I noticed considerably less pieces of shrimp than the pork egg roll had pork. Again, not the best shrimp egg roll I've had either, but probably my preference of the two egg rolls I ordered.

The egg rolls from Harvey Moy's score big points with me for being made in house and not tasting like they're from a grocery store freezer. They're also substantially sized compared to egg rolls from most other restaurants. That said, because of their size they weren't hot in the middle, maybe only warm at best. The egg roll filling also had bit a sweetness to it and that's not something I'm necessarily looking for in egg rolls. I thought the filling could have used another vegetable or two just to break up what was primarily chicken and cabbage.
