Food quality...spotty. Hours a mystery. Staff doesn't look you in the eye. Very, very, dated decor.

Most orders filled quickly. Food ok, but I prefer the buffet style food at the restraunt in West Bend.

Family owned and operated. Great food and the boy behind the desk is fluent in Chinese and English, polite and competent. Amazing.

Date of visit: February 21, 2025…read more Loup is a wonderful little gem that I came across (with a little help from Yelp, of course!) in the Wauwatosa village during one of my monthly lunch excursions with a friend from work and you should definitely check it out. While a tiny place, you're greeted with a wonderful smell as soon as you open the door, embracing your nose like a warm hug. Service was great! Staff was efficient and offered great suggestions, such as when I wanted the grilled cheese but I am not a fan of pepperjack and it was offered to add in some mozzarella instead of the pepperjack and it was not only a thoughtful suggestion, it was an amazing sandwich! I did a combo with the ginger carrot soup and it definitely had the ginger kick but was not too potent for me and I appreciated the suggestion from staff to try this one. Just a couple small quibbles that prevented Loup from getting five stars: - There were no croutons, crackers, or bread served with the soup. That is a must for me and something that can be easily corrected. - The M&M cookie--while quite large--was not great, especially for $4. It's my husband's favorite kind of cookie and he only had about a third of it before passing it on to me. I ended up having it at home with milk (which helped) but it was overall a disappointing and expensive dessert.

I have driven by it so many times not seeing the place since it's hidden in a strip mall. The place is super small with about four small tables so it's tight. It's basically soup, salads wraps and sandwiches and I opted for the combo of soup and a half wrap. I did a combo that probably no one else would have ordered because they are so far apart paring wise which was the chili dog chili and the grilled chicken Cesar wrap. The chili dog chili was pretty good with lots of sliced hot dogs that about every other bite had one and the texture of an all beef hot dog. The grilled chicken Cesar wrap was also good and I don't usually order wraps. I noticed right away that the wrap had lots of big moist chunks of grilled chicken and was tasty. Overall I enjoyed my lunch and I was impressed with the quality of the food and the fact that they don't skimp on the ingredients.

Their menu consists largely of Mac & Cheese, wraps, paninis and frozen custard. Being a Wisconsinite it really resonates with me. I get the classic "original" mac and cheese every time. It's always consistently good and it's still warm after my 20 minute drive home. They use a less common noodle that is quite large and the portion is generous too. The other menu item I'm always to is the shake of the week. They always have a different one and they're always good. Oh, and I have to mention their salads. Not for me, but my mother likes them as much a salad she gets anywhere else. Another thing I appreciate is the fact they have an app. An app for a local place isn't common in my experience. This makes it easy to order in advance so you can skip the line, skip the phone call and better still earn rewards. Finally, I have to commend a few of the guys who work here. Two gentlemen in particular who both are always pleasant and personable, which alone is commendable, but they've also both been there a few years. They both seem to be managers, but I'm not sure, though I wanted to recognize them. Both are older than the general staff and both are there various weekdays.

I got the Head Sawyer (steak, eggs, and hash browns) with the double tenderloin option, one kid got chicken strips with fries, and the other got a kids pizza. We also shared a piece of coffee cake. I don't think my youngest was super enthused by his pizza, mostly because it's not memorable to him. My oldest liked his chicken strips and fries, but I don't know if he's come across chicken strips and fries that he doesn't like, so take that with a grain of salt. The hash browns were ok. They were just fried potato with no other flavor or add-in like onions. I added salt and pepper because they needed it. I got American cheese on the scrambled eggs and they were as you'd expect. The tenderloin was fine. Obviously not as good of a cut as New York strip or ribeye would have been. I ended up sharing a portion of it with my oldest and he ate it without complaints too. The star of our visit was the coffee cake. It was warm and soft and in every sense perfect. Sharing is carrying and I'm fine sharing with my kids most of the time, but man, I wish it had been all for me.
