I just noticed that this place was close to my house so I figured I would check them out. They have a similar menu to other Chinese food restaurants in the area. I called to place my order for pick up and it was ready within 20 minutes. I noticed that the prices on the menu don't match what I was charged. Each combination platter was a few dollars more than I expected. The rice didn't have the best flavor and the prices are higher than other stores. I have been getting take out and delivery here for ten+ years. I have had around 50% of the items on the menu. This is an adequate place to get take out or delivery. It is consistently above average. I have never had a poor meal from them. I have never returned anything or complained... which is saying a lot for me. I always appreciate the temperature of the food, the freshness of the veggies and the friendly service. While it is not the most memorable or exquisite Chinese food experience, it is reliable, fresh and tasty. There is really only one place that does Chinese I like better in the area, but it is much more expensive and they don't deliver. ---3.5 stars. read more

China King is located in Gordy Plaza on the westbound side of Kirkwood Highway. However, there is a back entrance to the plaza from Farrand Drive. Parking seemed adequate, although the tavern crowd next door appears to fill up nearly all available parking on the side of the strip mall. Overall, I'm impressed with the upkeep of this Chinese takeout. The dining area is clean and bright. Unlike most other Chinese takeouts, they have customer restrooms that are also reasonably clean. Service was decent too and I love that they cook everything to order. They do that too for the eggrolls, unlike some other Chinese takeouts where they pre-fry those. The food seemed to be of good quality too. The General Tso's chicken was crunchy, even after the long trip home. The egg foo young wasn't bad either but here, the gravy made the difference. Really the only downside was the flat-tasting yellow fried rice. I think it could use some work but if you don't mind that, then China King is a winner. read more

I have got to hold this place down... I've recently moved into the area and China King is the only spot I will get Chinese delivery. A few things to note, I eat a ton of Chinese food. They are not necessarily the fastest but the quality is there. They do not skimp on quality. Personally, (don't judge me here) Egg Foo Young is one of my #1 hangover meals and I judge a Chinese restaurant on their sauce - it's make or break. Theirs is certified! Even on delivery, their Sesame Chicken/General Sao is crunchy. Most importantly if you get, for example, Chicken & Broccoli the portion of meat to veg is like 60/40 meat. Many places will fill your entree up with veggies. If you are in their pickup or delivery radius, I recommend for sure. KENT read more

This is my favorite place for Chinese food in the area. Prices are reasonable and the food is as good as it gets for take out Chinese. My favorites are boneless spare ribs, steamed dumplings, won ton egg drop soup and of course the roast pork fried rice. read more

There's no "attitude" that comes from anyone in here. If you feel that way, you're probably doing something wrong. When you walk up there is a stack of paper menus in front of you. You can go by meat or by type of dish. Their fried dumplings are AMAZING and the price is absolutely right. If you are placing an order you have to ask for chopsticks and sauce on the phone. I have been coming here since 1998! This is my favorite Chinese restaurant. They do all the staples very well, such as General Tso's chicken, and pork lo mein. The fried wontons and pork fried rice are also tasty. The best is calling your order in and the phone being answered "China King, what you want" LOL. I absolutely get a kick out of that! The food is decent but the attitude that comes from them is a whole other story. Every time you call it's like your bothering them. I even heard him huff when I wanted to place an order. I personally think this is some of the best American-Chinese food around here, however, if you ever call, your wondering if you even called the right place. They don't say "hello, china king, how can I help you?" they say hello, and then act like your talking to a wall almost. They wont even repeat back your order, or tell you your total. Ordered here multiple times and not impressed. The chicken fried rice will be completely skimmed of veggies and hardly any chicken. And I last ordered the scallop platter and it was a box full of gigantic brocolli and the scallops were rank and you could tell they were expired and had been soaking in sea water. They have a preteen answering the phone and he is completely lazy and incompetent and probably too young to be working legally.
