Corner store Chinese food reminiscent of my childhood in Rhode Island. I so wish this were around the corner in the Asian food desert of Kentucky! The combination plate of Shrimp Egg Foo Young and pork fried rice, wow. I swore Penn and Teller were there because (I know you know it's coming!) 'now you see it, now you don't'! It came with a cup of wonton soup that had killer broth and overly soft wonton. But I had no issue eating it! I devoured the food in record time. They stopped delivering to me! I ordered 3 times. The 1st and 2nd time, no issues. Food is excellent, good quality, great taste, fast delivery, and very nice delivery drivers. The 3rd time however; the delivery driver called upon arrival as requested (I meet them at the front of the building apartment lobby) so I went to the front lobby. No one was there, and no car. I called the driver to ask where he is. He kept saying he was there, and I asked him where, but he was obviously annoyed as I asked him if he was around the back of the building. I couldn't understand all of what he saying (he had an accent), so I ran down the stairs to see if he was at the back. He was very rude. After going back and forth twice, I finally met up with him. He was angry. I tried to explain to him, he was at the back of the building and I requested delivery at the front. I apologize for the confusion and received my order. Didn't have this problem with the previous orders, and I tip more than 20% each time. Well, every time I attempted to order after that, once I provide my address, I'm told delivery not available, or they have no driver. Don't think that's fair since the driver didn't come to the front as I requested, and I was very pleasant the entire time. Shame because in the 12 years I've been in DE, their Chinese food is the best I've tried, closest to what I have in Philly, New York, and Washington. Typical Chinese spot. There are a couple tables, but I wouldn't want to eat in unless I had to and even then if it was at night I wouldn't. Once I was in there waiting for my food and some kid that looked like he was 12 was drinking a 40 from the corner liquor store while sitting at the table with a 300+ pound chick who was sipping on a pint of peach schnapps, it was quite the experience. After trying Chinese take-out from several locations in the city of Wilmington, this was the only place where I could find palatable food and it is actually pretty good. I always find it a little disconcerting that when I call in my order, there are children answering the phone and taking the order though. While their people skills are not that well developed, they have yet to get an order wrong, so I guess it works. Also, I like that this place is clean! Huge plus! read more

The woman I spoke to quickly hung up the phone as soon as I placed my order, never asked if I was paying with cash or card. Best Won Ton soup in Wilmington. Period. They never over sauce their food. The wings are good too. I usually get shrimp and veg, Buddhists delight, egg fu yung, or something vegetable/noodle/protein based and it's always solid. Regarding their Generals Chicken: I've ordered it 3 times and the chickens been over cooked to the point of being rock hard each time, even though I've requested it not so hard. I'd sty away from that. I live closer to other Chinese take-out but prefer China King. You can see right into the kitchen, too, and it's open and clean. Also, when answering the phone, you sometimes get someone who speaks english very well and can handle the little requests like not too spicy or don't over cook again, or sometimes you'll get someone who doesn't speak english very well and doesn't understand what your asking for. I'm not being judgmental, just reporting my personal experience. It's not a problem and i keep going back. You just have to deal with it. Another thing is their delivery is mega slow. Everyone else is running around 30 minutes and China King is like 1 hour 45 minutes - especially on the weekends. Just a heads up. Currently this is only 1 of 2 Chinese resturants in the city I will go to. The food is good and consistently made. They are very quick and I've rarely had to wait even when I show up 10 minutes into the 20 minute projected pick up time. Parking is kind of a bummer, which isn't their fault since it's street only parking, but be prepared to park "creatively". The only thing that irks me is the "we charge a fee if you use a credit card under $8.00" malarkey. Technically no business is allowed to charge a fee to use a card for any reason per MC/Visa regulations but they ALL do it so... well, I guess it's lump it or eat pizza. read more

I have eaten a lot of Chinese food from China King. It is cooked to perfection, it isn't too greasy or oily. It is a shame that they have only one delivery person that delivers most of the orders. I think that I almost single-handedly bought China King, lol! The food and the delivery is great. I recommend it to anyone, but be careful of those pizza rolls, they will get you hooked! We've ordered our Chinese food from here for years. Better than most of the other Chinese restaurants in the area. We usually order the General Tso's and the Lo Mein. The only reason I won't give it five stars is because I used to live in Chicago and eat at its China Town restaurants. I'll save my five stars for that. read more
