We moved to Ocala just over a year ago, and this was our first visit to China Lee. We've been to a few Chinese buffets over the years, so we have a good point of reference. From the outside, China Lee doesn't look like much. It's sandwiched between a billiards club and a take-out pizza place, in a strip mall that looks otherwise devoid of life. Upon entering, we found the atmosphere to be pleasant. The people working were warm, friendly and welcoming. We were quickly seated, and while we perused the buffet options, our drinks were delivered to our table. I gotta say, selection is not lacking at this location. There were Oriental meat dishes galore! While the labels on the sneeze-guards did not always match the dish below, I'm usually one to select my entres based on how they look. The food appeared fresh and inviting. I chose several options, and was not disappointed. I have to point out here that we found out the hibachi is included in the cost of admission, as are a host of desert options. Excellent value! The friendly staff continued to be helpful and pleasant throughout our visit, taking dirty dishes away promptly, and asking several times if we needed anything. They're worth the visit themselves. As we are in a pandemic, I will touch on the fact that facemasks were required, and they provided us with disposable gloves, appropriate for our hand size, for when we were making our food selections. I might recommend replacing them between trips to the buffet line, however. We each had the same pair of gloves throughout our visit. In the end, the cost was well within reasonable range, and the checkout process was easy. With so much selection, so much food, such fresh and tasty options, and friendly staff - especially at a reasonable buffet price - we both commented that we will eat there again. Just not tonight. Your run if the mill Chinese buffet. Nothing really remarkable, but not bad at all. They have sushi, sashimi, and a Mongolian grill in addition to the row upon row of buffet offerings. My daughter especially loves the Chinese donuts and ice cream buffet. As of 2014 it's 8.99 for adults and 4.99 for children. There is a crab legs add on (optional) for 4.99 on the weekend. read more

Gone down hill! Arrived at 730pm no crawfish on line. Wait appx 35 mins for new batch just to have 3 customers waiting at steam table vs table who left about 10-15 total for other patrons. Got the remaining 10-15 and asked server how long before new batch..Oh we are out. No more. Asked for manager. Sorry no more. We asked for discount as crawfish is all we came for and ate( appx 10-15 between 2 of us) sorry you ate you pay full price. Manager was totally unprofessional and not the least bit helpful. Threatened to call police if we didnt pay nearly $30 for 15 lousy crawfish. Paid but will not recommend any longer or return. Have been faithful customers at least once a week for 2 years. Ridiculous. Place has totally gone down hill both in service, offers and management. No more crawfish at 7:30 pm when you dont close till 9:30 is 100% unacceptable Would leave 0 stars if that was an option.. read more

I come here pretty regularly. They have a great selection and the staff is a thousand times nicer than Ocean Buffet's. They have an awesome sushi selection, with a lot of vegetarian options or options if you're not the biggest fan of raw fish. They're hibachi is always delicious. That being said be sure to eat in and not take out too often. I've gotten sick a few times from take out. My biggest complaints would be the quality of meat in the hibachi area and the yum yum sauce literally being ketchup and mayo. I love Chinese buffers and this one is a hometown favorite that would be perfect with small changes. read more

For the past 30 years, my husband and I have always had Chinese food on New Year's Eve no matter what state in which we lived. (We have it during the year as well but our tradition for New Year's Eve has always been Chinese food). We have lived in Ocala for 12 years and for the past 11 years have always ordered take-out from China Lee Buffet. (We have eaten in the restaurant as well). Some years we've had upwards of 14 people join us for New Year's Eve Chinese food and it's always been China Lee Buffet and everyone loved the food. Sorry to say that this year, because China Lee was closed due to their move and we didn't want to break our tradition, we ordered from a different Chinese restaurant. We should have broken tradition and ordered a pizza! The food was awful...very bland, no flavor and BBQ spareribs were very dry. Our mouths are watering waiting for the China Lee Buffet to reopen, which we hope is very soon! China Lee buffet well it's about the same as every other Chinese buffet if you're into the face my wife enjoyed it much more than I did they have sushi and other types of meals. I'd rather have a good Chinese dinner and a good Chinese restaurant then a buffet in a Chinese buffet restaurant. I can go into all the details of what I didn't like but to each his own as far as buffets go. So I give the restaurant a thumbs down my wife gives it one thumb up one thumb down. If there was a 3.5 star option I would have chosen that. This is your basic Chinese buffet I've been here on numerous occasions and I've never had a bad meal. This is my favorite spot to have lunch when I'm feeling sushi but nothing super fancy. They have sushi and sashimi (6-8 different kinds) on the buffet and for 8$ you can't beat that. First restaurant I've been to in Ocala. Just did a take out. Got 3 full boxes for 20 bucks which was a very good price. I Packed around noon time. First impression was good. The food was awfully similar to the other china buffets I've been to.. Quality of the normal things I got such as red ribs, fried rice, lo main, some sushi were pretty good. Nothing fantastic since it's a buffet you know. Needs more orange chicken and more variety of better fried foods. Picky eater and I'm not sure if I'd come back here when ocean buffet provides slightly better quality food. read more

Was in the area and craving chinese so I decided to give this place a try based on some other reviews. Also needed to use the bathroom, which was in the back and actually nice and clean. Though the restaurant was fairly busy for lunch, mostly filled with seniors who seemed to know each other, I was seated quickly at a booth and asked fort drink order. So I then hit the buffet . . . while im typically not too frightened of sushi, this stuff did not look good. I ended up grabbing one piece which I never did eat so i cannot comment on the freshness beyond its apparent nonfresh appearance. The buffet consisted of your traditional Chinese food items such as general tso chicken, fried rice, an awful attempt at lo mein, egg roll, salad, pasta salad, chicken wings, and a dessert bar which I never did get too. I was apparently fed a lie my entire life believing firmly Chinese food could not be messed up in any way shape or form. The buttered shrimp, well the shrimp had to be several days old, the egg roll was soggy, the dumpling was cold and I'm still not sure what was inside it, general tso was soggy. I decided to try some more western food, like the cole slaw and macaroni salad, ehh not much better. The sweet and sour chicken was decent, if I were to suggest anything, stick with the sweet and sour!! I will say that the staff was very friendly, quick to grab empty plates and refill drinks. Where do I start! As a Chef, it has been difficult to eat out since I can be very particular. More times than not I have been disappointed. I also know what it is like to have people be fair in the "Critique" of your food. Therefore, "China Lee" did not disappoint me. One of the secrets to the food industry is consistency of the product your serving and in my opinion cannot be fairly evaluated on a single visit. I have tasted the food several times; in the early afternoon, dinner time, weekdays, and weekends. Quite often people have tendency to rip apart an establishment by concentrating on all the negative aspects of their experience. They fail to realize what it takes to run or manage a restaurant any kind with an emphasis on manage than own. Ming the manager knows what he is doing and I pointed this out to him during one my most recent visits. The food is fresh and is prepared well and consistently good. This is not easy task when the food industry is so very competitive and increasing development of social media can change restaurant's image in a matter of minutes. I was very impressed with the timely responses to both positive and critical postings and demonstrates a high-level of professionalism. I noticed on Yelp there are two of the China Buffet being rated in the same location. So, I'm going to copy and paste what I put on the first Yelp China Buffet to this one. It's a very reasonable price. Very inexpensive lunch. The buffet is outstanding they have their own hibachi where you can get your food picked out and have them cook it for you and that's what I usually do. I even get items from the regular buffet portion to have them cook it with my hibachi to warm it up even more. I find out taking my food that I get and have them put it on the habashi with some garlic and teriyaki sauce makes it a lot more tasty and it stays very hot throughout the meal. I didn't rate them the first time because I forgot. However, the first time was as good as the second. To get 5 stars from me, the establishment has to be emaculant and the staff has to be emaculant. read more
