This place use to be okay. I say that because it was sometimes worth settling for. That is no longer true. 1) Food Quality is substandard bordering on the piss-poor. Our most recent experience resulted in foul smelling fried rice that must have been re-fired 3-4 times over. The chicken was slimy and had gristle. 2) Pricing has gone up, demanding your quality standards take a precedent. $40 dollars was paid for inedible garbage. 3) I would not recommend this establishment to anyone nor will I be spending my hard earned money there again (.) read more

I have eaten here several times in the last 2 years and I've come to the same conclusion. this is a good place for a snack. If you want some good egg rolls or fried rice you will likely be happy. If it's an entree you want probably not so much. The online menu on their website is completely inaccurate, it lists many of the dishes being served by the pint or the quart. The person answering the phone said they haven't made pint-size servings for "Years" so I ordered quarts of Beef Chop Suey and Cashew Chicken. You do get tons of vegetables but the Beef, Chicken, and Cashews were very lonesome indeed. Also lacking unfortunately was flavor of any kind. It was super bland. The final surprise was the menu-priced food on their website totaled 31 dollars but since it's so old and inaccurate I got clipped at the window for 45 bucks. FAIL. Not satisfied. read more

Egg rolls are the best in town, and they come with a sweet and sour sauce that is heated up so if you think to cool those egg rolls down with the sauce...you are out of luck. Mouth burning goodness unless you have patience. I never do. They are very matter-of-fact. Some take that as rude... but they are never rude. So.. if you need pleasantries to feel satisfied... well, sorry, this isn't the place. But, with continued patronage and good tips, every now and again you get a big thank you from the patriarch and sometimes... near the new year, a free calendar. The food is very consistent. Typical takeout place. Came here during COVID so no dine in but it did look like they had some seating. Ordered Mongolian beef with fried rice. Went here tonight for dinner. We decided to eat in the restaurant there are a couple of tables there but mostly take out. Very clean restaurant. I ordered the Mongolian beef combo which came with fried chicken rice and an egg roll. The spice was just right on the Mongolian beef and the rice was very good and also the egg roll was good. Very disappointed they are closed on Tuesdays. Just moved to Traverse City and wife is very picky on new places to eat especially chinese. We tried one place and it was terrible so wife wanted to give up finding a place here. I went through all the places in Yelp to prove to her we could find a place. Got up first thing and went straight here at 10:30am and they were closed. Yup, closed on tuesdays.. what buisness is closed on Tuesdays? I ordered Schezwan Beef extra hot with Lo Mein instead of rice. Let me start with the good: The Lo Mein noodles were excellent. They were perfectly cooked, and the taste is what I'd expect. The portion size was an adequate amount for the amount of veggie/beef provided. The sauce itself was standard Schezwan, nothing to write home to Mom about... pretty much what I expected. The absolute best part of the dish were the broccoli florets. They were cooked very tender.... a hint of crispness without being raw in any way. The bad: when I order extra hot, I have a certain expectation. Ordering spiciness is admittedly dicey business. What one person calls hot, is another person's ketchup. That said, when I order Extra hot on a menu that already shows a hot pepper next to the dish, at the very least I expect to start sniffling in my nose. What I ordered wasn't remotely hot. Remember, I ordered extra hot.... I was very disappointed. I am glad I own Sriracha chili sauce at home to help spruce it up... but I was bummed. The ugly: The meat. yuk. I know Chinese restaurants pretty much follow the same source for their ingredients, but come on. When I order beef, I'd like it to have the texture of well... Beef! what a concept? When China Lee came into town I was hoping... just hoping that we'd have a departure from sub-par beef most Chinese restaurants use. The texture is somewhere between rubbery gristle and bologna. Chunked and Formed is not what I want to think of when I eat a $10.00 meal. I'd rather pay $2.00 more for a dish to get meat that at least looks like it came from a factory farm, that one that came from a factory. China Lee lies directly between Work and Home, so I'll take another try with another meat dish. I really was impressed with the Broccoli which considering how busy the place was on a Sat night is really hopeful. But the beef? I think not. read more

I occasionally work in TC so I like to try different area restaurants to support local businesses. Today I tried China Lee because it was open and I was in the mood for Chinese. I called ahea for a takeout order and it was ready within 10 minutes! I just visited the drive thru and they had it for me. I got a decent size chicken with broccoli and hot and sour soup for only $10 and it was DELICIOUS. It tasted real as opposed to the fake-tasting, cookie-cutter food you sometimes get. We have been craving something for weeks and couldn't figure out what. We decided to order from the chef's specialty and ended up deciding on the Happy family kit it. One is enough to feed three people if you don't over fill your plate. My husband is taking the leftovers for lunch tomorrow. We called and orders and it was done in 10 minutes. China Lee is, in my opinion, the best place in town to get Chinese take-away. In particular, they have some of the best vegetarian dishes around. The General Tso's Tofu is wonderful. Terrible food, ordered nearly $35 and ate a couple of bites, then threw it out. I'm not sure if the chicken is real, because it weighed nothing and the texture was like a slimy, chewy sponge. First the customer service was horrible. When is ordered they refused to speak a kick of decent English so I couldn't understand them. On top of that whatever meat they put in their dish is not real.
