We have been getting food here since 2008, when you could eat inside. Service was average and food was very good. The place hasn't changed in all the years we have been eating at Imperial palace. So it has a dated interior but food consistently has been about the same. Our favorites are sweet and sour chicken or sesame chicken. Crab Rangoon's with sweet and sour sauce are the best. Egg rolls are delicious, too. Yes the owner is direct but that is a cultural trait. We have known him many years and appreciate his food. If you know what you are walking into then it is not an issue. Overall, I rate this place as average. I recommend some updates to building an open restaurant portion again with good service then my rating will go up. read more

We ordered food here for the first time tonight. Our usual places were closed. Apparently Tuesday is a bad night to order Chinese. We ordered Sesame Chicken, Orange Chicken, Fried Rice, Steamed Rice, Crab Rangoon and an Egg Roll. The prices we found online definitely didn't match what we paid. Our order was double the cost ($48!!) as the other places we order from. Very disappointing because the food was just mediocre at best. The Egg Roll was tossed after two bites, worst I've ever had. Don't bother with the Crab Rangoon either. I absolutely love Crab Rangoon. Sadly, their Crab Rangoon had a funny taste to it, so we ended up tossing most of the order. Honestly, my stomach is already upset after eating their food. My husband and I both agreed, this place is off our list to order from for good! I was very disappointed in both the food and the pricing tonight. I have ordered and been a customer for several years but it seems that the quality is declining and the price does not match the menu. I phone ordered the General Tso Chicken, Chicken fried rice, and Hot and Sour soup. According to my calculations from two different menu sources, The price should've been about $18-$19 + tax. When my order was rung up at the register, it was $26. My fault, I paid the $26 and didn't question it. I did not have an itemized receipt to compare it to. The Kung Pao Chicken here is amazing. Don't buy into the other reviews. Every place gets orders mixed up, and if you want your food cut up smaller, call your mother. Don't order from here unless you want to pay too much and not get what you ordered. There is a reason why I've lived here 7 years and this is only the second time I have ordered. Shitty food, high prices and terrible customer service. All around just don't. You've been warned. I ordered by phone for delivery. The website did not have prices but I ordered anyways. I ordered one order of Healthy Choice Combo with garlic sauce and two orders of sweat and Sour Chicken. I also ordered an order of pot stickers steamed and crab Rangoon. The man on the phone never repeated my order but told me my total was $37.29. I paid with credit card over the phone. My order showed up 35 minutes later and I was offered a receipt but turned it down because I saw it was a small non detailed receipt. When I opened the bag and started opening things I noticed there was not a second sweat and sour and there was no fried rice. I called and explained that my order was wrong and the guy on the phone instantly started yelling at me that he didn't charge me for the second order and that they come with white rice also not mentioned on their website. They did not send a menu with my order like other places do. I told him that there isn't enough food here to feed my family. He told me he would send another order but it would be $10.50. I told him I didn't care I needed to feed my family. Then I tried the sweat and Sour Chicken and decided there is no way my family will eat this and I called back and told them to cancel it. Sweat and Sour Chicken tasted like someone soaked it In a barrel of syrup and let it some for 55 days before they served it to people. Not good. Healthy choice was a little salty and dry. read more

Awful food. We ordered the Bobo appetizer platter. The wontons were like cement - inedible. The egg roll very literally tasted like dog food smells. Mongolian beef was soggy, starchy and undercooked with hardly any beef. Both my husband and I have been sick all night and into the morning. A great place to get botulism or food poisoning, or both. My wife and I both got what amounted to 2 days of misery after a dinner here. I had ordered here for years but since Subway and other businesses have left, this place has steadily declined. I guess I'll have to go to Chens now since Happy Wok is basically dog food and China Palace does not deliver. The Crab Rangoon had no flavor, the sweet/sour shrimp was very greasy, the orange chicken had corn pieces, mushrooms, lemons and other strange items (barely any chicken), fried rice was soggy and tasteless, and the combo egg foo young was very greasy. Got lunch to go for a business meeting. Ordered a variety of items from eggrolls, Crab Rangoon, fried rice, imperial palace special. The food seemed expensive for what we got. Lucky me I found a hair inside my eggroll, yuck, and someone else found a hair in the imperial palace special. I called the restaurant and spoke with the manager, John, who seemed to be very defensive, asking me what restaurant did I get the food from, why did I wait 10 hours before calling back. We picked up the food just before noon, and I called before 8pm. He asked if the hair was long in the eggroll, I said yeah, and he said well it couldn't be from them since they have all men in the back and they don't have long hair. By this time I was upset that this sorry excuse of a manager didn't even apologize, thought I was trying to get free food. I told him I am not asking for free food, I probably would never eat there again. I am no stranger to restaurant work and a simple I'm sorry was all I was looking for. But he wasn't taking responsibility for anything. I'm guessing that they are not wearing hair nets in the kitchen and possibility has poor hygiene and sanitation. read more

Tastes good to me! Service is nice and friendly. We order takeout on occasion and regularly get shrimp egg foo young, Mongolian beef, and egg rolls. We haven't had any problems. Different places cook the same dish in different ways, so you can try it and decide for yourself :) read more

I've waited a week before writing this review because I was, (and still am) that angry and disappointed. My fiancé and I have been eating at this establishment for 10+ years. It has slowly been going downhill. This past weekend was it! We ordered our food for delivery at 5:45. We were told it would take 45 minutes to reach us. At the hour mark I called. Was slammed on hold. Once I was able to reach a person I was told that the driver was "right around the corner." After 20+ minutes later I called again; was slammed on hold never to be checked on again. 10 minutes later our food arrived. My dish was supposed to be spicy and did not contain ANY spice whatsoever. The straw mushrooms were sandy and gritty. The Poo Poo platter was tough, flavorless, and the egg rolls were so greasy they were inedible. I ended up throwing over 1/2 of the entire dinner away after spending $35.00. End result, I was lied to continually, treated rudely, and had an inedible meal delivered over 1.5 hours after ordering. We've been going here for years and the food has slowly been getting worse. Tonight was just plain disgusting; I called to complain about it and was told I could get the order replaced tonight or I could get a coupon for 30% off of the next visit. I tried to explain that having the same person on the same night cook the same food is going to give me the same result; which is just plain dumb in my opinion. I asked for a credit and was told the only way to get a credit was if I returned ALL of the food, completely full; if it was eaten, we wouldn't get a refund. I asked "how was I suppose to know how awful it was without trying it?" I put the food back in the containers and brought it up there and was given $17 of the $28 back and that was only after arguing for it and because we tried it, unbelievable!!!! And the OWNER calling my husband a FRAUD when he told him he felt the duck should be taken off. Came out from the back YELLING at him in front of my 2 KIDS GROW UP AND BE A FRAUD like your father.
