Today, Wednesday, February 4th, 2026, my family and I came to China Point -- a restaurant we've been coming to for years. This place has been part of our family tradition, from my aunts' generation to mine. We were genuinely looking forward to our meal. Unfortunately, today was really disappointing. The egg drop soup was watery and had almost no flavor. I actually had to add chicken bouillon just to give it some depth, which shouldn't be necessary at a restaurant. The beef and broccoli was bland, lacking the seasoning and richness we're used to. The compound shrimp has clearly changed -- it was orangey, very mild, and tasted like only the faintest hint of sauce. It just didn't have the bold flavor it once had. Even the crab rangoons felt slightly off. Everything tasted flat and under-seasoned. It felt like the recipes had changed, and not for the better. I understand that people retire and that sometimes the next generation steps in -- that's normal. But when that happens, the passion has to stay. The care has to stay. The heart of the food has to stay. But the food felt soulless. It lacked the depth, warmth, and flavor that made us loyal customers for so many years. read more

Service is attentive to our needs. Food takes a little longer to come out than most restaurants, but getting egg drop soup during that wait was nice. Dumplings for the appetizer--so good that I forgot to snap a pic before the fam ate up most of the plate. They have lunch specials until about 3pm or so, but my family typically opts to get the dinner portion so we can share everything family style. Sweet and sour pork is crunchy and so is the orange chicken, but most of the flavor comes from the outside / only the sauce they toss the meat in. In other words, the flavor appears to be solely in the light coating on top of the meat. Despite this, the meat is tender. I personally liked the orange chicken better than the sweet and sour pork. Pepper steak was good too. Portions for everything are generous. My mom spilled her water during the dining experience and the staff was swift to the rescue. So we were in Riverside visitong relatives. It was my father in law and brother in laws birthdays and everyone had a hankering for Chinese. Our old favorite had sold and food went downhill, and the other Chinese places we had tried were not good. So I went to Yelp and found a highly rated Korean/Chinese place with jajingmyun (black sauce noodles) and China Point came up. Reviews were good so we came to give it a shot. SO GLAD WE DID! Must say it is a little drive out to the restaurant fron Riverside, but well worth it. We got there and at first I was a little worried as the lady who seated us was not the friendliest. But then our server was fantastic. My father in law is on a low sodium diet so when we ordered we told our server low to no sodium in all the dishes. She said sure. We ordered, hot and sour soup, fish with vegetables, twice cooked pork, house fried rice, kung pao chicken, and a bowl of jajingmyun. Soup came out and it was delicious. Not salty but with really goid flavor. Out came the other food, and I must say, the portions were generous. Each was cooked perfectly. All were exceptionlly flavorful and not salty or greasy at all! The flavor the chef achieved with low salt was fabulous. All the dishes were spot on. The only thing that was lacking was the hot tea. The tea had no taste. It was line we were drinking hot water, but who cares anout the tea; The food was exquisite. To top it off, we didn't tell the you ng man behind the register that it was my father and brother in laws birthdays, he was just observant and saw birthday cards on the table. He confirmed with us and immediately brought out two slices of coffee flavored cake and a small gift for them both. What a nice touch. With that all said, we have now found our new go to chinese restaurant in the IE. its a drive, but would do it in a heartbeat for the food! Without a doubt, one of the best authentic Chinese food locations you can go to. Each person gets to order their own meal, and it is enough for more than one person. If you are ordering off of the menu which says it feeds 3 to 4 people the ownership has been the same and the waitresses, although they attempt to be super nice, can come off to be a little Sassy. They don't intend to do that though. The food is super fresh and they have signs everywhere telling you that they are not a fast food location and the food will take a while to come in so you must be patient. Solid spot for Chinese and Korean dishes in the Rancho area! I ordered the "Chinese Spaghetti" which is just jjajangmyeon/ or black bean noodles. My friend and I also ordered their crab rangoons and tofu with mushrooms to share. Their portion sizes are large (can serve 2-3 people) and reasonably priced. For folks dining in, you receive complimentary corn egg drop soup! Overall, the flavors were up to par with similar establishments in the SGV and 626 areas. I'd return to try their lunch specials! Ordered the orange chicken and it was grey and mushy, ordered the Mongolian beef and it looked like pork, ordered the chowmein add broccoli and got shrimp, and some kind of meat! Yuck!!! My first time eating here, and it was right down the street. The food was good, pepper steak was just a tad bland for me, but just added my own seasoning and it was perfect. I loved the house Chow Mein and I don't usually like bean sprouts but it was delicious. The sweet and sour pork was great too. The only thing is, if you're price conscious, ask how much it is before you order. These three items together a la carte was 57 dollars, which I didn't find out until I was picking up my order. We ordered a hefty set of entrees right before Christmas. Let me start, this family owned business is great with service and friendly. First, the hot and sour soup was so good. It was a thick consistency, with egg, bamboo and mushroom chunks. It was light and refreshing. Broccoli beef was cooked in a large entree, the beef was soft, and the broccoli still had a crunch to it. Honestly, all the entrees were pretty big. Jajangmyeon noodles (black been noodles) was the best version of this dish I ever had. The noodles were thick and chewy, and the sauce was so deep in flavor- veggies and meat. The cucumbers cut the richness of the noodles. We also had kimchi on the side, it was a great pallet cleanser. Lastly, my personal favorite; kung pao chicken. The chicken pieces were juicy, and i love the variety of vegetables and the textures in this dish. Soft chicken, crunchy water chestnut, peanuts, bell peppers, zucchini, onion, bamboo.. Food is always great and the service is now very good. The service improved 100% since the original owner retired. The new manager and the staff are also relieved since the owner retired. Working in the food industry is stressful enough you don't need another person making the work environment more stressful by being bitchy to the staff and carries over to the customers. Was looking for a great local restaurant since I'm an out of towner. We came across China point. It's a nice, mom and pop in a small strip mall. Small inside but definitely has the small business feel. I always try to support local small biz. My friend and I had read the reviews before going, they were 4.7 and 4.4 starts out of 5 on numerous sites. They had signs making it apparent that it would take time and was not "Fast Food", that everything was served as a course and to be patient. We waited 10 minutes to get seated, it seemed they may have been short staffed. They rushed us to order since they were closing in 30 minutes, that's part of why I put 4 stars. There were a few disgruntled patrons who didn't want to wait for their to go food, ugh, patience. But the portions here are HUGE!!! The wonton soup was different, not like a traditional one. I didn't like it much, at 11.95 normally, I think you need more than 4 wontons in a big soup. The egg roll and crispy wonton was delicious and my friend loved getting my fried shrimp. My friends entree was Beef and broccoli, I got Mu shu Pork with no MSG. The plum sauce was ok. The mu shu was delicious!!! All in all it was pretty good food. They even offered us free ice cream but we were full. At $60 for 2 of us, it's the most I've paid for Chinese including tip. Nice spot for healthier Chinese but you may need to add a bit of spice or salt to what you order. ;-) read more

Tried China Point for the first time yesterday for lunch. I had the Mongolian beef lunch special. It was very good! Unlike other places, they did not skimp on the beef. The food was very tasty, and even the eggroll here was good. I don't understand why so many people on here are complaining about their service, being rude, and long wait times. I went during peak lunch time, and I was greeted and seated right when I walked in. I placed my order within a few minutes, and right away, they brought out some hot egg drop soup and water. My order came less than 10 minutes later. They checked in on me a few times and at the end asked if I needed a to go box. They even said bye while I was walking out. I noticed that a few people walked in and ordered to go, and even their food came out within 10 minutes. China Point is definitely on point! read more

China Point is one of those places that know how to cook delicious food and they don't overcook their meats. I went there for the first time, with a few friends, and we ordered the Mongolian beef, beef & broccoli, and orange chicken lunch specials. All three were delicious and I would definitely order them again.
