Picked up authentic Cantonese food. I used to go to this restaurant a lot when I lived in Rancho Cucamonga. I had time this weekend so we ordered takeout. The beef pan fried noodles was absolutely delicious and had generous servings of tender beef, mushrooms and fresh vegetables. The sweet and sour pork hit the spot with the delectable green peppers, onions and bits of pineapple. The batter to meat ratio was just right to absorb the sauce. The corn soup with chicken was perfect for a cool and breezy day. Let's not forget the yang chow fried rice - only one word to describe it - perfect. Celebrated my mom's birthday a few weeks ago and her one request was Hong Kong Style crispy noodles. Tai Pan House was one of the only places that distinctly came up on the Yelp search with this style of noodles, so we took a chance and ordered our dinner from here for take out. They did not disappoint. The food was good, especially the crispy noodles, and the service was friendly. They made a strong first impression. Tai Pan House is located in a small shopping center off of Archibald Avenue. The restaurant occupies its own building within the center but shares plenty of free parking with the other businesses. As noted above, we ordered our food for takeout. We called the order in and the time they estimated for pickup was reasonable and accurate. Our food was ready upon our arrival. Although we took the order to go, the food remained warm despite the drive home. Our order consisted of - Chinese Pancake with Scallion - Orange Chicken - Honey Walnut Shrimp - House Special Hong Kong Style Chow Mein - Shrimp Fried Rice Although we ordered takeout, the portions for the dishes were very generous. The price point for the meal was also very reasonable. Our favorite items were the Honey Walnut Shrimp and Hong Kong Style Chow Mein. Both were tasty and very fresh. The Chinese Pancake with Scallion was good, but very greasy. We would steer clear of this item in the future. The Orange Chicken was plentiful, but several pieces tasted like they have been prepared from earlier in the day. Are you kidding me? I was CRAVING some Chow Fun and ordered it with beef. I don't know if the woman who took my order was confused but it should be pretty cut and dry of what basic Beef Chow Fun is. She told me the extra container is what you pour over the noodle. I was like...what? Usually you don't have a separate container to mix in the noodles. I thought it was some new thing they had going, but I was tired and just wanted to get home. So anyway I get home and I open it up to find PLAIN noodles with NO BEEF, and no seasoning! Then there is a container of Egg Flower Soup with Shrimp. The person I wanted to share it with has a seafood allergy! What a fail! I feel like they just slapped something together and brought it out because they didn't know what beef chow fun meant. It's literally on the menu. How do they not know what's on their own menu? I ordered the frog legs and shrimp fired rice. I've eaten frog legs all over the country, and these were by far the biggest and most flavored Ive had to date. Unfortunately, this place has been a victim of the economy and poor management, when this place first opened, it was full of potential, it had several servers, good food was quick to come out and the place was clean, but with slower-than-expected business, they had resorted to having only 1 person running the whole front and probably 1 or 2 people at the back kitchen, I don't think they turn on the Air Conditioning anymore. It's a cycle, not being able to afford help results in not as good service and the rating went down, which in turn made business worse, the food, as far as I know, is still good, but with 1 person running the show, it's hard not to be worn down, they're pretty much on a "survival mode" as some say, just creating a job for themselves, I highly doubt it's a profitable business at this point read more

They have so many various dishes on the menu, but the quality is not that good. I tried the No158 Beef dry noodles. The beef is so hard to chew, not tender at all. The noodles itself is bitter, not smooth. I cannot even finish this dish. Xiao long nap is also disappointed, I don't think it's even fully cooked, I don't like the taste. The service was also so-so. The waitress is very cold, with a poker face. Dishes came fast though. There are not a lot of Asian restaurants like this in the area. You normally have to go SGV for food like this. I've gone several times and each time the food is good. For some reason, service at places with good Chinese food is always hit or miss, but I haven't really had any bad experiences yet here. I will say, I mostly come here for take out and have not dined here, so I am speaking more for the food. Don't let the boxes by the door turn you off. If you're looking for a fine dining experience, this isn't the place for you. But if you're looking for good food, then stay for the food. Looks can be deceiving.. The place is not as grand as anyone wanted it to be, the lady manning the front and taking orders might come off as rude, but that could be how she is. But don't let that turn you off. When it comes to food, my favorite is the West Lake Beef soup, shrimp in scrambled eggs and the crispy noodles. I tried the fried rice with scallop and eggs. I have tried that somewhere else but this will do in a pinch plus it's much more affordable. The portion size is not too shabby, you may have plenty to bring it home. I ordered the Sauteed String Beans, French Style Filet Mignon, and Salted Shredded Pork w/ 1000 years egg Porridge. The string beans was really good even though it has a spicy kick to it. It wasn't too spicy where I couldn't eat it. The filet mignon wasn't as good because it seem like it was cooked medium rare that made the meat chewy. The meat was hard for me to chew and enjoy it. I wouldn't order that again. The porridge was a good amount and it was tasty. The staff were friendly and plenty of parking spaces. Came here as we really craving Pork Chop, looking at some comments on Yelp to be honest made me debating with myself whether to still try this or not. And here I am giving a comment, means that I decided to give a try. Restaurant was quite, only us the party that came in. There was elder lady (assume she is part of the restaurant staff) that sat down on one of table and lady cashier who we found 'threw' the menu on the table, her attitude is really far from hospitable. We ordered Spicy Pork Chop which disappointed, it was oily and not crunchy - not what I expected considering I have been tasting this menu at other restaurants. The Seafood w/ Tofu, I admit is quite tasty to my opinion. As for the drink, you will be served Chinese Tea as complimentary. People tend to do take away, wandered already what was the reason. This restaurant is one of our go-tos when we order party trays. We recommend the house chow mein, salt and pepper squid, salt and pepper shrimp and green beans. Call them a day or two in advance. We also ordered fried fish here (pretty crispy). They also have this saucey crab dish--I guess it's the chef's specialty (they used huge crabs--delicious and meaty but kinda pricey).
