This is the only place I like for Chinese food. I've been a customer since they opened about 40 years ago. They only thing I don't like is that they went from using glass to plastic cups for ice tea and sodas. And they now play country music instead of the Asian relaxing music that they used to play. The ambience is just not the same anymore. They use to have the best egg rolls. They had lots of cabbage which made them delicious. Food was good, waitress didn't come back after food was delivered to the table. No refills on beverages. I got up, got my own napkins and container to go. Had to wait at register to pay. Second time had pick up order, ordered egg rolls and other items. I asked what sauce was packed in tied up bag for rolls? She responded "none". I was very disappointed in our first (and last) visit to China Restuarant. We were greeted, and seated promptly upon walking in, menus given, drink orders taken. My husband and I ordered a beer to go with our meal . I asked for a glass for my beer. The frosted glass came, I poured my beer, and we started talking. My husband looked at my glass that had started to thaw and saw a crack in the glass. We called the waitress over, and her solution was to pour my beer into another glass, mind you full beer, not touched. I told her that there might be glass shards, and a cracked glass is definitely contaminated, I did not want that beer in another glass. We then asked to speak to the manager who said we could get another beer, but we would have to pay for it. We then told her we were leaving, cancel our orders, we will pay for the beer.... Mind you I did not touch mine, my husband had a few drinks from his. They still wanted to charge us for 2 beers, we stated we would pay for one. The manager then informed us she would have to call her dad. The cashier then rang up 1 beer and we left. What happened to customer service? These people lost about $40 or $50 because of a $4 bill. As you enter the restaurant, the first thing you notice is a whiteboard advertising their daily specials, and within seconds, you're greeted with a friendly hostess, who will seat you at the table of your choice in their spacious dining room. Next, a friendly waitress will greet you, and produce menus and take orders for drinks. As all of this is happening, you're looking around their attractive dining room, that features, well, "Imperial" Chinese decor, complete with orange-red ball lamps, shiny wallpaper, and the usual amount of dragons and gold statues of guys with huge pot bellies. You'll also notice that the tables are arranged diagonally, which makes the high-ceiling dining room appear larger than it really is. All in all, China Restaurant features a very classy decor. I appreciate their all-day specials and I like the fact that they cook their vegetable dishes right (so many places in the area just overcook the hell out of the vegetables) but overall I think their dishes are kind of bland. This was our 1st time eating at China Restaurant. We ordered 1 Chicken Chow Mein and 1 beef chow mein with a side of fried rice and a side of lo mein noodles. The total came to $35.00 with the tip, we picked it up curbside. After reading reviews we decided to try China Restaurant because I've missed really good Chinese food since we moved here from North Texas almost 3 years ago. Not long after we moved Covid hit and we stopped eating out. I don't like leaving bad reviews but it is what it is. The Chicken Chow Mien looked like someone used a chain saw to cut up the chicken and the beef in the beef chow mein was so tough it couldn't be chewed. I'm a senior and have eaten a lot of Chinese food BUT this Chow Mein was odd, not at all like anything we've ever had. The fried rice seemed like it needed to be cooked a little longer. The Lo Mein noodles had a good flavor but were a little tough. I wish I could say something more positive but the food we got was horrible. I feel like we wasted all that money because we threw the food in the trash. read more

My coworker offered to bring me Chinese food from a local restaurant that was his favorite. He suggested to try their beef and broccoli plate and I took his advice and chose fried rice as my side. I also ordered two of their egg rolls which were amazing and sure were a good size. Overall I have to say the plate is for two people because I can sure eat and wasn't able to handle all that food by myself. Based on some of the images and reviews I've seen on the restaurant I am tempted to dine in one of these days. China Restaurant serves up typical fare one would expect to find in a Chinese restaurant. It's also pretty much what comes to mind when most people think of a Chinese restaurant - red seats, heavy plastic menus, and Chinese zodiac placemats. The menu here is extensive, and has a sizeable menu selection of vegetarian options. I ordered the egg roll for my appetizer (no spring rolls on the menu), and the fried bean curd (tofu) with black bean sauce with steamed rice for my entree. First off, I could tell they made the egg roll on location. It wasn't some out of the freezer - into the microwave type of concoction. Instead, the egg roll was a bit coarse looking, piping hot, and good. The accompanying sweet and sour sauce was steaming, and great for dipping. A few minutes later, my bean curd dish came out, loaded with vegetables. It was okay at best. Not bad, not great, but somewhere in between. Of course, the steamed rice was alright - rice is difficult to mess up unless you're seriously handicapped somehow. And they have bamboo chopsticks. I've been to some Chinese restaurants in the Valley that do not have chopsticks or have the plastic variety - but this place does. Points. Total came out to about $10. Good. The server said that the entree portions were smaller for these menu options, but I figured it would be enough since they came with an egg roll and soup. Well, the portions were HUGE. I cannot imagine what the normal portion size looks like. Bring your appetite people. Lol. The combination lo mein comes with a huge side of fried or white rice. It has shrimp, chicken, and beef mixed with lo mein noodles. I've already mentioned that it was a huge amount of food, but for those of you who value quality over quantity (like me), I can guarantee that you won't be disappointed. Everything was delicious. The service was also excellent. Our server seated us immediately, and took our drink requests promptly. She was quick to bring them out and answer any questions we had about menu choices. She came over to check on us a couple of times throughout the meal and brought refills right away. The atmosphere was pleasant, although it was a little quiet. A little music would have been nice, but it was no big deal. Overall, I would say that my experience was positive. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because my soup was a little tasteless. However, everything else was really really good. I don't usually do reviews. In this case I felt compelled it was that bad. I wanted authentic Chinese for a change and not that psuedo-China Panda Express stuff. Should have stuck with the psuedo...LOL! You learn I guess. I ordered delivery because of the whole Covid thing. The fried wontons were very chewy as if the dough were old and had been sitting for quite some time or cooked the day before. The "filling" also left a strange aftertaste as if the "meat" in it had spoiled long ago and cooked anyway. There was very little filling in them I only managed to eat one because of that taste. I could not identify the "meat filling" in them. The fried rice was way overcooked. Everyone know what happens when rice is overcooked. It gets mushy in consistency. This establishment doesn't care they will serve it to you anyway. It was all also bland. In fact, everything I ordered was bland. I requested and got a lot of condiments. No amount of condiments will add flavor to this "food" however. If you can even call it food. I used all the hot oil and at least 6 packets of soy sauce and still tasteless. Even the hot oil was substandard. I love hot oil. This hot oil was not hot. The lo mein which is supposedly a favorite here was swimming in oil (see photo). The photo does not do the situation justice. This was a large lo mein a quart I think. I managed to get halfway down the container and I literally struck oil just as if I had been drilling for crude in Texas. The bottom half of the quart lo mein container is filled with the oil they use to cook with. Why would you use that much oil?? Why would you do that to somebody? It says you don't care about the customer or even the food you are cooking. It says you take no pride in being a good cook whatsoever. It says you're not really a cook it's just a job to you to make money. I cook. No matter what I cook I always take the attitude this has got to be the best dish I've ever prepared. It doesn't matter if I am cooking for just me or someone else it has to be better than the last time I made it absolutely. That is just my attitude always. Clearly that is not what is going on with whoever cooked this. They don't care period! I ended up throwing most of this way and now got to figure what I'm going to eat. read more
