Update to my last review, China Sea seems to be the best local Chinese takeout in the Highlands, Seabright, Monmouth beach, Long Branch area. Egg drop Wonton was delicious, boneless ribs were excellent Boneless chicken was terrific with a generous portion of chicken breaded nicely in browned sauce with vegetables. Star of the show was their eggplant in garlic sauce....eggplant was cooked down perfectly while their garlic sauce has just the right amount of spice... With winter coming it is good to know we have a reliable Chinese takeout close by. read more

I love China Sea! I lived in Highlands for 2 years, and they were my go to Chinese take out spot. The prices are good, and the food is great. I did not eat inside so I'm not sure about the ambiance, but when I picked up my orders everyone here was always really nice. As a plus, the prices are good. I moved away earlier this year, but for 2 years this was my spot. I will miss it! read more

I had to try the only Chinese restaurant in Highlands NJ. It is disgusting. There was food in Bowls near the floor. The cook used his hands to scrape sauce out of a jar and put it into the wok. He used tha back of his ladle to stir the food then held the handle with his hand. They opened the cooler and it was a mess. I can go on but it is just a disgusting place. Pretty good, hole in the wall kinda place. Food hot and tasty, and terrific value-the prices are left over from the 90's.

I had to he curry beef, very good with a nice level of spice heat. Truly enjoyed the dish.

The food here is awesome. The spare ribs in particular might be the best we've ever had, and pretty much everything we've had here has been good. That said, what was a 5-star place before loses a star now because they've become OBSCENELY expensive. We ordered two large orders of spare ribs and an order of crab rangoons, and our order totaled $48. The large spare ribs are apparently $19 per order now. Granted, it's for 10 ribs, but a bunch of the ribs you get are clearly sawed on the bias so that you're not even getting the whole rib. If you're going to extend your inventory (I have no problem with that), then don't simultaneously spike your prices. And if you're going to spike your prices, don't get cheap with the product. The tough part is that they don't have a website, they're not on any delivery apps, etc., so there wasn't any way to see their new pricing. This order has been a go-to for us when we're down the shore, and it has typically been around $30 (which also wasn't especially cheap, but was worth it). A 60% spike is crazy. We'll still order from here, because the food is that good, but probably less quantity and definitely less frequently. read more

Yummy and fresh every time I've had it! I've only tried the chicken lo mein so far but it's very good and the staff is always really nice :)

This is standard fare Chinese take out but they do it really well and is consistent good. Egg foo young, any chicken dish or seafood dish has been very good. read more

Just moved to the area and was looking for a new local go-to Place for good Chinese. Given the proximity of Chinatown to my former place in NYC I had low expectations. China Sea was a pleasant surprise. Tasty and delicious food at reasonable prices. The food was ready fast and it was still piping hot by the time I got it home. Very happy to have a great new spot convenient to my new home. read more

The food here is good. The service is terrible. We recently ordered $80 worth of food for our not for profit school to have a special lunch. The man behind the counter refused to give us enough fortune cookies for all the kids. He would only give us 6, even though we had 11 kids. He wanted $5 for the extra cookies. I hope keeping his cookies was worth the business he lost. We will never order from here again. read more

Takeout food is always fresh. Very good Wonton Soup, fried rice and ribs. They are always timely on orders.

They make a very good, best in the area, Gen Tso's Chicken, but you have to enquire if it comes with the broccoli (picture on wall) and remind him. The hot & sour soup is very very good and so were my egg rolls. I believe he got religion on the customer service front in the past few months because of all the negative postings. My family and I had lunch here on 05/24/2019. I ordered the General Tso's Chicken meal. I found a fly in the sauce of my food. I figured that a fly had just flown in -- it happens. I asked the guy if I could have my money back. They apologized and offered to remake my order so I said okay. He gave me some free water and a can of coke. The second second order had an actual ANT cooked into the chicken! I told them about the ant and they were like "Oh, sorry." Really? I don't think they washed their cookware! Highly dissatisfied with this place. I guarantee that if you order the General Tso's Chicken from here, you will find a roach or some other insect inside! read more

This place messed up my order three time and then the guy had the nerve to fight with me about what I order when I told him twice then I wanted deep fried dumplings then said don't ever come again . I've been ordering from this restaurant for a month now And I spend a great deal of money each time for delivery Orders. I normally like my veggies to Not be undercooked especially the onions... But last night I ordered fried rice and requested the Onions to be well cooked due to raw onions make My stomach upset. When I got the food the rice tasted really Smokey as of the wok was extremely hot... So it didn't Taste how it normally does. So I called them today mind u I still have the rice because I couldn't bear the smoke Flavor... I call and the man is rude... Says I can not help U. I say I didn't eat it I still have it.. I mean I dobt want snything For free just for it to be fixed.. And he responds rudely. I in Return tell him that there is no readon for him to be Rude and talk in that manner and I just won't be a customer Anymore.. He says ok that fine it doesn't matter... Ha! Great pork fried rice and the ribs are amazing (both on the bone and boneless). I don't know what these other people are so mad about.

This hole in the wall had the audacity to refuse to continue delivery to our home in Highlands because my grandson ordered and was short a dollar or two. We ordered often in a pinch and certainly supported the local business. If the proprietor remembered the one order that short, he respectfully should have remembered the numerous $80 or more orders we have placed with this establishment. My wife called to rectify the problem and the proprietor was Disrepectful to what were regular customers. Will never patronize this establishment again. their sesame chicken dinner meal is delicious with great portions. the chicken is always the perfect pairing of crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. they could definitely step up their soup game with the taste - tends to be a bit bland. we have only had delivery but the staff is always very friendly and accommodating. definitely check this place out for a movie night in! read more

this place is good! it's mostly a take out place....i love that it is right in the hood....so inexpensive and great chinese food! this is my go to on a cold night that i don't feel like leaving the house....the fried rice is some of my favorite---no americanized peas and carrots in it! also the won ton soup is to die for! yummmmm! quick delivery too! read more
