Thai fried rice.... traditional thai fried rice is advertised on their menu. THIS IS A STOCK PHOTO, theirs is totally different.

This is a cute place but they miss the mark with their thai food. Skip that. I excitedly got the thai fried rice once and it came with a confusing mixture of cashews, pineapple, and raisins??? I did some research and apparently thats a TYPE of thai fried rice but needless to say im not a fan and its certainly not the standard type you find when ordering. It was sickeningly sweet and because of the pineapple the rice came mushy. I couldnt eat it and threw it out after trying to no avail to pick the 100,000 raisins pineapple and cashews out. Their spring rolls and egg drop soup are good. Their lunch special is a steal at 4.25 and their general tso's as well as shrimp lo mein are good. (Photo of lunch menu attached) Ps when I looked on their menu their thai fried rice did not come as it looked in the picture. When I made them aware, thinking I had gotten the wrong order, they let me know they use stock photos on their menus. I let them know that it was dangeeous to advertise that way due to allergies. (Many people are allergic to cashews especially-***PHOTO ATTACHED**) The people who work there are all very friendly and gracious. Will be back but will avoid their thai food in the future.

China sea is located near my job. So I have eaten here about 10 times during the course of the years. I was actually getting my takeout Chinese food from Happy Buffet that was located across the street but they closed down. China sea does a $4 lunch special which is what I usually get. I got the General Tso's chicken this last time but ive had the beef with broccoli and sesame chicken before. My biggest issue with the rice is the fried rice is legitimately plain during the lunch special. I mean no scallions, onions etc... So naturally the rice tastes pretty bland. The general tso's that I had last week I thought was a bit overcooked. Had good flavor and that helped with the lack of flavor from the rice. All in all I usually only come here when I want to spend less than $5 on lunch and don't want a burger. If not I prefer the Chinese food out the lynnhaven mall.

I called earlier in the day to see if we should make reservations, but was told they wouldn't be busy. Well, we got there and while they had plenty of tables at 6:30PM, but 7PM that place was completely packed! They had lots of carry-out orders happening too, which all made the kitchen a little slow. We ordered many dishes to share and all started coming out one after another over the next hour until the beef & broccoli was the last dish. Again, I attribute the slowness of the kitchen to their being so busy. At least all the food that came out was very fresh, tasty, and piping hot. Some interesting items that were quite good were their potatoes and green peppers. This dish is something I've never seen before but was pretty good! It features long julienned potatoes that they clearly soak in water before wok'ing with the peppers - that was all that was in the dish, but it was still tasty. Their Fish in Chili Oil & Bean Sprouts was really tasty and fresh! The fish is flounder. Their spicy wontons in chili oil were very popular with our group too. Service here was friendly too and helpful. Like I said, we tried many items, so many more than I just outlined and all were nice. I'd definitely return for a slightly more elevated Chinese menu from what you get at the typical Chinese-American joints.

I like that it's spaced out and you're not over crowded. Our waitress Catherine was awesome. She's always nice, friendly, and patient. She gave us the menu specials and allowed us to chat a bit before ordering. My friend ordered the cheese wontons, general tso chicken and dan dan noodles. The wontons were really good. I like that they were sweet and crispy. I'd get them again for sure. The dan dan noodles were spicy and flavorful. My sister and I got the Mongolian chicken, storm fish, and eggplant. This is my go to meal that I normally get, it's always tasty. The storm fish normally comes with a spicy mayo sauce, but they didn't have it this time. The fish was still ok, but the sauce is what gives it flavor, so it was a little bland this time. The eggplant and Mongolian chicken were yum, hot, and fresh!! I definitely recommend this restaurant to alot of people. I just think it's more elevated compared to regular Chinese takeout food. They have many delicious options on the menu, and again the vibe is chill. If you're planning a group dinner this is definitely a great option. The rooms have a lazy Susan on the table to make sharing the family style meals easy. Check them out!!

I found maybe 4 at most. It was also disappointing most of the sauce was on the bottom. So it's imperative you stir everything from bottom up upon receiving the order. The top layer tasted like it had barely any seasonings because of it. I wish I had known the meal came with copious amounts of mushrooms. I otherwise would have specifically requested the order be made without the them. I am not a big fan of mushrooms and especially the fragrant kind like the shiitake variety. I feel like I had mouthfuls of mushrooms in each bite and that's all I tasted. Perhaps I will order something else they are more known for the next time I believe they specialize in Szechuan cuisine.

The last experience we had was absolutely amazing. From the service to the food. All around great…read moreexperience. This time, not so much. My family and I (5 people) came in to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday dinner and there was nobody but us in the restaurant. The first thing I noticed was the server. He was dressed in jeans, hooded sweatshirt, a beanie and had a toothpick in his mouth. A bit out of the ordinary but to each their own for proper attire in what I would deem a upscale-ish restaurant. The real issue was him taking our order, seemed rushed. As we were deliberating and figuring out what we wanted. My girlfriend was talking about the scallion bubble pancakes. He came over and said, "I overheard you said the scallion pancakes, did you want to put in that order?" My girlfriend said no, she wanted everything to come out all at once. He said ok and then we walked off. Next thing we know, the pancakes came out WAY ahead of everything else we ordered. By like 15 minutes at least. When my girlfriend said something about it, the waiter said, he said outright " I never heard her say not to order them, she never said anything, and they are out right now". No apology, no I'll go ahead and fix that...nothing. When we we on the way out, we talked to the owner about the experience and the only thing he mentioned was that, the server was new and it's hard to find good employees because they revolve so quickly. Which wasn't really an answer at all. It was definitely a 180 degree turn from the first experience we had here which was 5 stars all around. I think given the experience, we unfortunately won't be coming back

That style of Chinese food is one of my favs. So, when visiting the area I came in for lunch on a Monday. Getting there around 1PM they had several table sat, which I was surprised to see, yet very happy to see too! It meant that there are others who value really good, Authentic Chinese food and flavors. I started with their cucumbers and asked for them to be spicy. Once they arrived, I have to say I was disappointed as they were fresh, but there was hardly any flavor to them at all and the "sauce" in the bottom of the dish wasn't actually tossed in with the cucumbers, rather they were just sat on top and the flavors were on the bland side. They also just tossed a bunch of whole cilantro on top, rather than pulling the leaves and chopping those and mixing them in, which is how the dish should have been served. Next up was their egg drop soup... yeah, it's an American-Chinese item, but it's a fav of mine and it came with the lunch item I ordered, which is the only reason I got it. It tasted great! I could tasted the freshness of all ingredients in it, but the fried wonton pieces that came with it were beyond horribly stale - NASTY! Those should never be served! My local, Fredericksburg Peter Changs (before they recently closed down) served amazing, fresh fried noodles to accompany soup. This is a management/chef issue that needs to be corrected with this location!! Next was the spicy chicken with peppers and onions... They were good, but far from spicy and definitely was missing some umami flavor I'm used to in this dish, from when I get it at other locations. I also tried their beef with three peppers... It came out looking not very authentic, rather quite "American" as it was saucy and resembling the beef from beef & broccoli. Flavor was ok, but far from what I've had with this particular dish in the past, which was very disappointing. Overall - service was nice. The food was too Americanized, which I suspect was why I saw so many people in there. Reviews for any authentic (Pakistani, Chinese, etc) place are typically mid-low level as most who use these review/social media sites are clueless as to what the food is actually supposed to taste like. I'll give this place a 3, but for authenticity it deserves a 2. Would I return, nope, there are too many places to try in the VA Beach area.
