My favorite Chinese food in VA beach. Always on time and always good. Service is kind.

The food wasn't awful. We were starving or we would have gone somewhere else after seeing the front of the restaurant looking like an episode of "Hoarders". The spring roll was great, the dumplings were soggy, and the lo mein was bland. The sauce to dip the dumplings was superb. The lo mein, while bland, had a large amount of meat. I just don't think we can get past seeing how unorganized and dirty the restaurant looked. read more

This restaurant has been around for a long time, and it is no wonder why. It is located in the Hilltop shopping center, with parking that can get a little crazy at times. I love how they made changes to the store front during the pandemic. No one is allowed to enter the restaurant. As they have a plexiglass window placed in front of the door. They are making it very easy for people to practice social distancing. The food here has always been pretty good, I really love the spare ribs, they always taste perfect! I have never had to wait more than 10 minutes for my order. Also, they never make mistakes on my order, which is why I like coming here. read more

Went here today for lunch and got one of the lunch specials. You get A LOT of food in your lunch special. I got the shrimp and broccoli and it comes with two choices of a bunch of things. I chose the fried rice and the hot and sour soup. The shrimp was big a plump and not tiny baby shrimp. It was flavorful and there was enough sauce on both the shrimp and the broccoli. The fried rice needed some soy sauce and the soup was amazing. It's my fav soup and sometimes places f it up, but they didn't. I approve. I'll definitely come back here for lunch! I would not recommend. I walked in to place an order and found the restaurant to be very disorganized and dirty. The man taking my order had bloody Band-Aids on his fingers, no gloves and was also serving food. I saw a man in the back grab noodles with no gloves. I immediately canceled my order and walked out. First , I would give zero stars if I have that option. The lady who took my order acted like it was an inconvenience to her and that it was a bother to take my order. She made me feel as if I didn't wanna be there or maybe she didn't want me there. I Order three meals, chicken lo mein very little chicken zero Flavor, garlic shrimp, very little flavor and four little pieces of shrimp. Mostly the food was rice and or noodle depending on which one you ordered and a ton of broccoli. Ordered the beef Lo mein, very little beef and I mean very little beef if I didn't ask for spicy, it would've had zero flavor. The chicken wings were chicken, crisp overdone, and the sweet-and-sour soup was so thick it had to be diluted. I will not be going back. I drove from downtown Norfolk all the way to Virginia Beach. I am disappointed extremely disappointed. I will not be going back. Zero stars from me and I doubt very much. This is authentic Chinese food. read more

The food was actually good, the customer service was horrible. While I waited for my order, noticed a considerable change in the attitude of the lady working up front who took orders. Seemed as though she was friendly to us and to other people who walked in to place orders but was absolutely nasty, completely unprovoked, towards the Door Dash and delivery drivers who walked in to pick up orders. They are just trying to make a living like everyone else, so not sure what her issue was, won't be going back there. read more

So, I'm bumping my stars to five because for a solid three years this place has been my favorite lunch during the work-week. I also want to add some compliments related to other items on the menu. One of the best things I've eaten here are the teriyaki chicken skewers. They're on the appetizer menu and they are absolutely fantastic. It's all thigh meat, and they are crispy, salty, sweet, and piping hot. The first time I had them I was already daydreaming about getting them again an hour later. Their fried chicken wings are also amazing. Hot, crispy, and enormous. It looks like a small portion on the menu, but these are full wings, not separated. Squeeze some hot sauce and duck sauce on these and go to work. Lastly, their Lo Mein is some of the best I've had. By far my favorite here is the Shrimp Lo Mein. It is so freaking delicious and saucy. read more

I'm rating mostly on service which is slow and disorganized. They clearly need more staff to keep up with orders. On Sunday evening wait was 30 min plus for takeout. With so many looking for work not sure why they can't hire help. Food isn't horrible but I'd rather use a place that has the take out process streamlined. read more

Ordered deluxe through the Yelp app for a scheduled time and the experience was smooth. Food arrived on time and hot. Mostly ocean friendly - brown paper bag, reusable plastic containers, no styrofoam. Too many soy and mustard packets though... Food was good - though my husband was unhappy with the large quantity of celery in his veggie and cashew meal. I ordered veggie pancit and veggie egg rolls. First of all, I would like to state how disappointed I am for having to even write this review. For months I have been a patron of this establishment(ordering 2-3 times a week usually), but unfortunately that will no longer be the case. This pandemic we're currently experiencing didn't slow down how often we frequented this business, between take-out and delivery & up until recently we have appreciated their willingness to still provide decent food at an affordable price. Yesterday when picking up our to-go order there was a gentleman in line that was coughing in front of my significant other and I with no face-mask on. With the line being outside, we knew much couldn't be done about him coughing so we just created our own distance. When talking to the cashier at the window I observed him cough into his hand SEVERAL times while holding his money in that same hand (once again not my business so I just made sure to continue to keep my distance). I then witnessed the cashier take the money from the customer and give him his change without hesitation. Even though the cashier has had problems understanding and assisting this customer because he is coughing so hard(and covering his mouth with his hand), she still allows him to dig his hands in the sauces in front of the window and touch everything on the counter instead of just handing him whatever sauces he requested. When I approached the counter I asked the cashier "Did you see him coughing in his hand, and you still touched his money. Do you have any sanitizer or anything?" I was cut off before I could even finish my sentence and told "I'M NOT WORRIED ABOUT HIM, WHAT DID YOU ORDER?", as if I was annoying her by requesting she washed/sanitized her hands. A simple hand-washing or squirt of sanitizer would have been sufficient for me but instead I was met with a scream that showed nothing short of they only want our money. Most businesses wipe down counters after each customer, have designated places for "used" pens, and even take the time to clean their hands between interactions with people (especially when dealing with cash). I can only imagine what they aren't doing properly when we aren't looking at them. I would much rather give my money to establishments that are open and taking this disease serious. I think we all know we are taking a risk when going out for anything right now but I no longer trust this business and their cleaning practices. To be told to your face "I'm not worried about that" is something a customer should never have to deal with, especially during a time like this. read more

I was in town for the week and wanted Chinese food. Since I had been to the restaurant before, I knew it would be good. I ordered their meat dumplings and Kong Pao chicken. Food came fast. Yummy food. Dumplings were so good. The chicken had more veggies then I was used to. So good. Very good and ate leftovers the next day. Spicy and hot. I'd order again. Need to try something else. Great little hole in the wall Chinese restaurant. I've only ever gotten caryout and they are very fast. Always within 10 mins and the food is fresh! They have a surprisingly large vegetarian menu that I totally recommend. The general tso tofu is the best I've had in the area. The prices are super cheap as well if you go to lunch, but dinner prices are a little steep. Btw the egg rolls have pork! I didn't know but I asked they are really great about checking ingredients because everything is made fresh. Like you can literally watch the food in the kitchen while you wait. Pretty great place but I would never eat there (inside instead of carry out) because its too quiet read more

The take-out was the normal New York Style Chinese you find commonly around here, but it actually was decent for what you paid. It wasn't the super cheap stuff, but it wasn't quite the "from scratch" that I utterly adore. I got the Garlic Chicken with Jasmine rice, and nommed on one of the steamed dumplings that were ordered. Everything was good and fairly high quality overall-I recommend this place for day to day take-out; although there is a small dine-in area off to the left when you walk in to the counter. read more

Seriously one of my favorite places in VB! It's a must have every time I'm in town. General Tao's is forever my go-to and I could literally eat their egg rolls and dumplings everyday of my life! Despite the pandemic they are still safely open for everyone to still enjoy! My parents never really eat out much and they tried Mei Zhen today and loved it! Sooo good, we called ahead and placed our orders which were done in 20 mins. Everyone liked everything and my picky order was perfect. 5 adults and 2 kids ate and were full off of $70 which isn't bad at all we even had left overs. Will be back again next year! read more
