I used to live in Virginia Beach. I often ate at Mei Zhen restaurant. I love their food, it's so tasty and a good portion too. Even when I moved away now. Every time I came back to visit, I had to have some food from Mei Zhen. I miss their food when I'm away. They are the best Chinese food in town. Even anywhere. I have tried many Chinese foods at a lot of places in different cities. They are still one of the best. Yum!!!

Burnt Fried Chicken Wings and Bland Shrimp Fried Rice

Worst Chinese food I've ever tasted. Burnt chicken wings and bland shrimp fried rice. The picture says a million words. I feel like taking this food back and asking them "would they eat this". I was very polite when I ordered my food, and I left a tip on the receipt. The store wasn't busy at all, they just felt like serving me some bullshit. Never going back..

Food here wasn't great. You can take the spare ribs tips are frozen and not fresh. Not sure how old but you can taste it. The rice was suppose to be fried rice and it had no flavor. I was extremely disappointed with my full order. I also tried the ragoo. Hardly any filing and the egg rolls was more roll that filing. It tough to give bad reviews especially during a pandemic but am also using my money to eat something semi decent. I guess I have to looking for a decent Chinese place.

We ordered $25 worth of food that fed two of us for three meals and a snack. Gotta love take-out Chinese! We ordered during the COVID-19 situation using Postmates. Our order actually arrived quicker than we were anticipating, which was terrific! I love that they have combo plates that come with soup. You can also choose between pork fried rice, white rice, or brown rice as a side. The menu is enormous, so they are sure to have your favorite "new york style" Chinese dish. They even have pancit and pad thai if you aren't feeling up for Chinese. Everything tasted exactly how it should. My favorite were the crab rangoons and the donuts. My boyfriend liked the egg foo young the best. I'm sure we will be ordering from Mei Zhen again soon. We may even branch out from our standard order and try some of their chef special dishes- they look fantastic!

    6. House Special Lo Mein. Large portion and a lot of meat, but BLAND

The food wasn't awful. We were starving or we would have gone somewhere else after seeing the front of the restaurant looking like an episode of "Hoarders". The spring roll was great, the dumplings were soggy, and the lo mein was bland. The sauce to dip the dumplings was superb. The lo mein, while bland, had a large amount of meat. I just don't think we can get past seeing how unorganized and dirty the restaurant looked.

The best local Chinese take-out (or delivery) I've found near the oceanfront. It's the closest to good NY style Chinese I've had in VAB.

I called earlier in the day to see if we should make reservations, but was told they wouldn't be busy. Well, we got there and while they had plenty of tables at 6:30PM, but 7PM that place was completely packed! They had lots of carry-out orders happening too, which all made the kitchen a little slow. We ordered many dishes to share and all started coming out one after another over the next hour until the beef & broccoli was the last dish. Again, I attribute the slowness of the kitchen to their being so busy. At least all the food that came out was very fresh, tasty, and piping hot. Some interesting items that were quite good were their potatoes and green peppers. This dish is something I've never seen before but was pretty good! It features long julienned potatoes that they clearly soak in water before wok'ing with the peppers - that was all that was in the dish, but it was still tasty. Their Fish in Chili Oil & Bean Sprouts was really tasty and fresh! The fish is flounder. Their spicy wontons in chili oil were very popular with our group too. Service here was friendly too and helpful. Like I said, we tried many items, so many more than I just outlined and all were nice. I'd definitely return for a slightly more elevated Chinese menu from what you get at the typical Chinese-American joints.

While the exterior of the establishment appears quite understated and traditional, the interior is an absolute masterpiece utterly breathtaking from the moment you cross the threshold. My friend had very wisely arranged a reservation for me in advance. As I was dining solo tonight, I chose a beautifully convenient, intimate table that allowed me to fully take in the surroundings. The attention to detail here is extraordinary; the serene atmosphere, the curated decor, and even the traditional Chinese attire worn by the staff create a thoroughly immersive and sophisticated experience. I found it deeply admirable. The hospitality was nothing short of impeccable. A wonderfully gracious waiter welcomed me with immense warmth and escorted me to my seat, demonstrating a top-tier standard of service throughout the evening. To begin, I treated myself to a Lychee Cocktail my absolute favorite and it was mixed to perfection. Following a most pleasant conversation with my waiter, I decided on the Soup Dumplings for my main course. They were a absolute revelation extraordinarily fresh, delicate, and bursting with rich, complex flavors. It is no exaggeration to say that this establishment feels like a hidden paradise rediscovered. Between the flawless service, the stunning ambiance, and the culinary execution, it receives full marks from me. A magnificent experience

I found maybe 4 at most. It was also disappointing most of the sauce was on the bottom. So it's imperative you stir everything from bottom up upon receiving the order. The top layer tasted like it had barely any seasonings because of it. I wish I had known the meal came with copious amounts of mushrooms. I otherwise would have specifically requested the order be made without the them. I am not a big fan of mushrooms and especially the fragrant kind like the shiitake variety. I feel like I had mouthfuls of mushrooms in each bite and that's all I tasted. Perhaps I will order something else they are more known for the next time I believe they specialize in Szechuan cuisine.

My family and I (5 people) came in to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday dinner and there was nobody but us in the restaurant. The first thing I noticed was the server. He was dressed in jeans, hooded sweatshirt, a beanie and had a toothpick in his mouth. A bit out of the ordinary but to each their own for proper attire in what I would deem a upscale-ish restaurant. The real issue was him taking our order, seemed rushed. As we were deliberating and figuring out what we wanted. My girlfriend was talking about the scallion bubble pancakes. He came over and said, "I overheard you said the scallion pancakes, did you want to put in that order?" My girlfriend said no, she wanted everything to come out all at once. He said ok and then we walked off. Next thing we know, the pancakes came out WAY ahead of everything else we ordered. By like 15 minutes at least. When my girlfriend said something about it, the waiter said, he said outright " I never heard her say not to order them, she never said anything, and they are out right now". No apology, no I'll go ahead and fix that...nothing. When we we on the way out, we talked to the owner about the experience and the only thing he mentioned was that, the server was new and it's hard to find good employees because they revolve so quickly. Which wasn't really an answer at all. It was definitely a 180 degree turn from the first experience we had here which was 5 stars all around. I think given the experience, we unfortunately won't be coming back
