I've been coming here for more than 10+ years now and absolutely love the people and food here. But ever since my last visit I've been realizing some customers complaining about the wait time or just little problems so I wanted to make a review. You guys need to realize this is a family owned restaurant and they are trying everything they can to make us customers happy. Sometimes they get crammed like on holidays or if they are busy in general it will take them a little bit longer for them to make our food but they will always make sure to satisfy us and try to make it as quick as possible. Their cooks are super sweet and when busy is trying their best to keep up with all these large orders so please give them some time. I get it when it reaches a limit like if it takes an hour or so but even if they really are trying their best to keep up with each order and make sure we get our food to our liking. I looked at most of these reviews and see most of them are one time experiences and it over little mistakes so please just give them more chances because their food is absolutely delicious. I used to go here haven't been in a few years. The food now is extremely terrible they used spaghetti noodles for my lo mein and way over cooked it, it weighed 15 pounds. The food was dry and tasteless. read more

I've been to the China Star Asian Garden restaurant on Jonesboro Road in McDonough Georgia .several times now. I don't know why I keep going back. Their food is bland. The curry taste like chicken broth. I'm a West Coast guy who moved to Atlanta and I can't find a good Chinese restaurant. I'm a big curry guy and their curry is terrible. I had the moo guy pan this evening it was awful I had to add salt and spices to bring it up to par. Now let's talk about the service they dropped the food off and they forget who you are. All they care about is their deliveries they're on the phone constantly packing food meeting people upfront and they forget about the customers in the restaurant. When it comes time to pay they could care less they want you to go to the front and cash out. I don't know about you, but I go to a sit down restaurant I expect to pay my bill at the table. This was my second visit. First visit I liked the Singapore mei fun, my husband zipped through the lemon pepper wings although he said they weren't the best he's had. The second I appreciated much of what I ordered (Singapore mei fun, twice cooked pork, steamed dumplings, chicken & broccoli). The restaurant front staff were nice and accommodating. The food was flavorful and hot (even though we picked it up late), and smelled wonderful. I subtracted 1 star because the twice cooked pork was over cooked, chicken teriyaki were the smallest ones I've seen yet (tasted pretty good), and the egg or spring rolls that come with combo plate is vegetable (too soft) instead of pork (more texture and filling). Overall, I would recommend this restaurant because it's some of the better Chinese food I've had in the south and it deserves more fair reviews as I've seen with other yelpers! I ordered asparagus with scallop and paid extra for shrimp as well. The asparagus was hard. There was no sauce with it, and I don't know what they call scallops because they were clear chunks of something.? the spring roll tasted as though it was fried in 10 month old oil. I called over the phone to ask if they had a wings meal that came with a drink. they told they they do and it comes with a side of my choice. I asked if it was including a fountain drink or can drink and they said that it could be either or. she told me the total was $11 over the phone and when I came to get my food she said it was about $13 and she said she was sorry because she was reading the ticket number by accident. I paid and when I went to grab my drink, she yells and asked if I'm going to pay for it. I told her I just did and she said the girl over the phone didn't charge me for the drink and she was literally the only girl up there. I told her that I specifically asked for a drink over the phone and then she starts reading the receipt to me like I can't read. I told her not to worry about it because there were customers in the lobby and she was clearly being rude. I left and I will not spend my money here anymore. to be honest people of color shouldn't come here anymore because they don't even like us. I had another previous bad experience here but it's too much to type. Don't waste your time please. If you want good customer service and to be treated fairly, go somewhere else! read more

First time coming to this restaurant. The interior is very nice and clean. The decor has Asian inspired art on the wall and tables. The staff was very polite but too overbearing. I ordered the Magnolian Beef with the fried rice. It was delicious and i had plenty for seconds. The Women informed me that customers who check in on Yelp will get 10 percent off. So that percentage gave me a good discount when the grand total was told to me. The vegetable spring roll was good too. I will come back again to dine in next time. read more

The food was good. I had sesame tofu and fried rice. The tofu was a little soggy, but I put it in the air fryer fit a bit.

So...I was a little skeptical...but also very lazy and not wanting to cook. The reviews made me nervous..but again..I was feeling lazy.. so I ordered the sesame tofu and...... it was great!!! Tofu cooked with great coating, not mushy inside, like I like it!! Portion was great!!!! I will reheat tomorrow. Cost reasonable. Glad I went, this vegan is happy! Pics show my plate that I kilt!! service is a little slow at times, but they have delicious food! my favorite is the sesame chicken with a side of some kind a spicy garlic sauce. side sauces are in a huge bowl too! they are definitely not stingy with their servings! A dinner plate can last me 3-4 meals. granted i'm 130 pounds and eat like a 5 year old. definitely recommend. never had any issues with ordering through doordash with them either (i know they don't deliver the food but they've never messed up) read more

Readers Digest Version: Do yourself a favor and go to Panda Express. Details: I just got off an eight hour drive and wanted some comfort food in my hotel for my boyfriend and I, so I checked Yelp, and went with China Star. Huge Mistake. And I will tell you why... 1.) I tried to order online (S&S Chicken Combo, Garlic Beef Combo w/Lo Mein, & Crab Rangoons), but it never processed to a confirmation page so I called and spoke to a woman on the phone who I don't really think understood the menu bc she was telling me different kinds of chicken that wasn't even on the combo list. She was kind, though. My total was $7-$8 more when I ordered on the phone, she said the add ons (fried rice & lo mein for combos) did not add on their website. Rather than hassle over a few extra dollars which should've been honored, it was late and I was hungry, so I just went with it. 45-60 minutes is what I was told for delivery time. Fine. Nearly 75 minutes later, I called - a gentleman apologized and said the driver was on his way. Also, a kind person. 2.) ANY OF THAT would have been fine, but then we sat down to find our order was missing both spring rolls AND cutlery. So I called and told the gentleman on the phone. He said he'd send someone back out. Again - kind guy, crap situation. 3.) EVEN THAT would've been ok, I'm a restaurant manager, I understand mistakes happen. BUT what was inexcusable was that nearly Every. Single. Thing. We. Ordered. Was. Wrong. Awful. And. Inedible. - No garlic in the garlic beef - also the meat tasted like rubber. - No crab in the crab rangoons. - The spring rolls we waited for were SO MUSHY, I literally spit it out. - S&S Chicken pieces were tiny, tuff cubes double battered and deep fried. - And the three pounds of rice was an unbelievable overkill. There were literally four pieces of what I fear to assume was vegetables. But of course, by the time we got all our food, it was nearly 11:00 so when I called ten minutes later, they were closed. Then I called back a final time and was told that the expiration date on card was incorrect and it was my fault, but they would be glad to put in an order for 50% off but it would be at least 30 minutes before I would get it. At this point I terminated my relationship with this horrible service. 3 Hours to drive 7 miles, I know people that have ran a marathon (26.2 miles) quicker. I ordered the same thing I always get , but today the food was so nasty I called back requesting a refund. Of course the lady in the front said being the food back up here for me to get my refund which I did, but once I got here all of a sudden they said they don't do refunds. They had all these reasons as to why I can't get my money back even though I was already told it was okay. I was forced to order some food that I know I no longer wanted because they refuse to refund $20 for two lunch meals. The rice was plan, no carrots , peas or eggs( I didn't order plan rice). Went here for dinner on a Tueaday evening. We were promptly greeted and asked to have a seat anywhere since we wanted to dine in. Atmosphere...dirty tables (from previous guests). Stockpile of lemonade and orange soda under the tv in the dining room. We waited at our table (no menus) before we decided to leave and grab Chinese takeout at our usual place. Found it on the first try! The portion sizes are quite generous and the food is excellent--better than my old stalwart on the north side in Acworth. I'll be back. read more

Good Chinese food. Very large portions. Not too expensive and pretty quick for takeout. We got Curry Chicken and Sesame chicken, along with fried rice and lo mein. Everything was good and hot. I waited about 15-20 minutes, and they were very busy with to go orders. There wasn't any silverware in the bag, but at least we have tons of leftovers. read more

So this restaurant has a very nice atmosphere and is very clean. Not what you typically expect from a Chinese restaurant. They have lots of seating so if you would like to sit and not order take out there is room for you. The was good. I was not too crazy about the rice. It did not have a lot of favor. I may be a bit biased when it comes to that bit it was just ok. Their main dishes are great. I have gotten the chicken and broccoli and also the shrimp human (as you can see the place is not bad as I went back again). I will go back more so due to location convenience. read more

Food is always good although sometimes the folks who work there act like you are annoying them by being there.? My biggest complaint - the smell as you go in the front. It seriously smells bad and I can't believe they don't try to do something about it. I would imagine that turns some folks off! Not sure where it comes from, but the smell is there every single time, so it isn't a fluke.
