We ordered our food and it was delivered to our room in under a half hour - super fast! The delivery driver was very nice and sweet! I had the General Tso's Chicken and it was really good! The restaurant followed the note to not add spiciness. My friend had the Sweet & Sour Chicken and she said it was delicious! We both received very large portions - plenty of food for multiple meals! Chicken with vegetables was delicious and tender. Unfortunately the pork egg roll was mushy, never tasted a piece of pork. The pork fried rice had more pieces of fat than pork unfortunately. Your wonton soup use to have a thinner noodle wrap which was excellent and delicious. The wontons now are thicker, a little harder to cut through. But your broth is wonderful. read more

It would have been proper to ask the customer if you wanted these but no instead you assume it's included in the stapled brown bag when you give them your name. They need to do a better job. The chicken lo mein was very skimpy on chicken all we saw was tiny pieces. They need to do a better job. The shrimp egg rolls are more like spring rolls in the traditional sense. I've been coming here a few times this past year already. There are several Chinese-American restaurants locally, but China Star stands out because the portions are quite generous and plentiful. It's located in a small plaza and the inside is more like a casual deli. If you like General Tso's chicken, this place nails it quite well. Sesame Chicken and Orange Chicken area also popular options, far better than Panda Express. You can order on DoorDash, but their prices are usually cheaper on the parent site or in person. The food is also prepared pretty fast, usually only taking about 15 minutes or so. As for the lady who knows it, English isn't her first language but she's fast and she takes care of her regulars pretty well. You can eat-in, as there are a few tables to dine at, but most people just order out. Of note, they are closed on Tuesdays, so plan accordingly. read more

Typical Chinese kitchen in DeKalb Pike, Blue Bell, PA. All the usual menu suspects with long lunch specials list @$6.95, with rice, broccoli and soft drink. Soup and egg roll not included. My General Tso's Chicken was served in house in a takeout container and flimsy white plastic fork. The flavor of the sauce had a little heat, but was otherwise unremarkable. Same for the fried rice and the florets. The only thing that stood out from the other Chinois/American hybrid houses was the outward charm and warm interaction provided by the friendly and solicitous owner, who was very happy to meet a new customer. Decent takeout place, but not beyond the mean of all such restaurants. Good for a fast and cheap lunch. They had a stream of people coming in for pickup while I was there, most of whom seemed to have been there before. Doubtful I will ever be in that group. read more

Got cashew chicken and there was not a single cashew in the entire order. Not even 1! It was just cut up chicken and vegetables. Pork lo mein had no flavor except just "salty". Oddly it actually had a chicken noodle soup taste to it, totally strange. Beef and broccoli was swimming in a tasteless broth? General tso's chicken had the most flavor of the 4 items we ordered but was a lot of small fried bits and not many actual pieces of chicken. If you are in the mood for a Chinese food, this is a good local restaurant to go to. They have this Singapore noodles (thin noodles with spicy flavor if you are into that sort of taste,) which I was looking for, this alone makes me comes back to this restaurant. Plus they have a good open space parking lot, which allows you to quickly grab and go, and it seems that they have loyal customers based too. The food here is extremely salty and bland. I already have a headache from all the salt and I just finished eating a few minutes ago. The service is absolutely terrible. The few other times I've ordered from here the owner was extremely rude. She rung my food up tonight and tried to tell me I had to pay with cash unless the order was more than $20. When I said I didnt have cash she charged me extra to pay with my card then proceeded to tell me "next time, you pay in cash". No lady, I wont be coming back. My sister also got take out from here tonight and they told her she wasnt allowed to pay with her card unless it was $20 or more. Somehow they coaxed her into buying more food to get it to $20. Really poor customer service. For how busy they always seem to be it doesn't seem worth it to pinch pennies if that means losing customers. She also said she will not be ordering from there again. No restaurant in this area has a limit on amount you need to spend to pay with a card. Also, if the day ever came that I was spending $20 on Chinese take out for myself i think I'd have more problems than complaining about a chinese take out restaurant on Yelp!
