Solidly good American Chinese takeout place in the suburbs. It is one of the cleaner Chinese restaurants I've visited in a long time and they are quite pleasant. I got the kung pao chicken and chicken with garlic sauce combination meals and both were very good. Kung pao was savor and the chicken with garlic sauce was sweet. I also ordered the lo mein which was soggy, flavorless and inedible. I threw all of it away, so that was a waste of money. I'd go back for the combo meals I ordered. I'd suggest staying away from the lo mein. read more

After visiting this place many times, I have decided I will never purchase from this Chinese restaurant again. The incredibly rude service is why I will not return. I have previously ordered a dish from this restaurant four times with the substitution of a different sauce to meet allergy needs. After speaking with three employees over the phone, they refused to make the dish but did not say that until I arrived to pick up the rest of the order. I was so disappointed and annoyed that they have made this for me so many times before then refused to make it and did not tell me so I could make other arrangements. Hands down the best in the area. Cindy the owner takes pride in the quality of her food. She only prepares meals as they are ordered so they are fresh EVERY SINGLE TIME. You will never get a meal that is soggy, cold or overly covered in sauce. She also holds her team accountable to prepare meals consistently and in a timely manner. My husband and I have been craving Chinese food since COVID restrictions. It's our usual go to when we want take out. I was so excited when I drove by on Thursday and got caught in a construction zone. It gave me time to notice that their neon OPEN sign was on. It's been a while since I've had Chinese food. Growing up in Brooklyn, I swear there was a Chinese takeout restaurant every other block. After a while, you grow tired of it. Out of the blue, the family and I decided we had a taste for Chinese. We ordered a few items: sesame chicken, Mai Fun noodles, chicken wings and dumplings. The sesame chicken paired with white rice is tasty. It's probably my favorite menu item thus far. My wife loved the Mai Fun. I wasn't blown away by it, but it is good. The service is pretty good. Cindy, who I assume is one of the owners, is very nice. When you call her, she saves your number and tries to remember your preferences. When my wife calls, she knows that she likes ginger ale and will usually include a can of ginger ale with our order. A simple gesture that goes a long way. read more

We just moved here from the west coast and we are looking for a go to Chinese restaurant. We found it with China Star. Food was delicious and very flavorful. It's just a tad to spicy for my wife but I believe we can adjust how spicy it is next time. Owner is also awesome. We are not from this area, but we wanted Chinese food. we asked someone in the grocery if there was a Chinese restaurant nearby. They said the closest one was China Star. We ordered almost $100.00 worth of entrees. We were so excited because we found the place and the woman inside was adorable. when we got back to the hotel, there were no sauces as we requested in our bag, the house lo mein and the house fried rice were tasteless, the hot & sour soup was not even a little spicy. The food was very bland, and we were very disappointed. When we went back the next day to get the sauces because we needed to jazz up the leftovers, which were lots, the woman who was so adorable the day before was almost argumentative with me when i explained our concerns. She gave us some sauces, was stingy about them, and was not happy about it. We were very disappointed in that as well. We do our best to support local, small businesses wherever we go. And my pictures show that I did not get 4 chicken wings and the shrimp roll minus the shrimp. I did not eat half of my order and then decided to call and take pictures of my food. This is something you came with in your head. It's not that serious for me to do all of this. Your store did not give me 4 wings and 4 legs and a shrimp roll for $7. It's okay to go screw up an order just stop being in denial. I did not ask for a credit.....I asked what can you do to justify the situation and keep a customer happy. And we see what you do....absolutely nothing and want to keep thinking that no one at your place of business can make mistakes. Job just moved up from Conshy to Blue Bell so now I have to scope out all the Chinese restaurants around the area. Run of the mill strip shopping mall Chinese 7 table "restaurant". These are the places you go when you want some cheap lunch specials at the end of the week. Surprisingly it was pretty good and the prices were as expected. This is my favorite place in the area for take-out/delivery when it comes to 'Americanized' Chinese food. There are no shortage of options for this around here, but the small details put this place over the top. First, I love how they have an 'open' kitchen...when you go to pickup the food you can see them making it right behind the counter. The family/owners are very nice as well, and having self-serve sauce packets is such a minor yet welcomed perk. No pile of unused soy sauce, no fights over the last mustard packet. What puts this place above the rest is how they do the more simple dishes...cold noodles with sesame sauce, crab rangoons...all vastly better than other places in the area. Even the wonton soup is a notch above. They have a lot of vegetarian-friendly options (mock duck, etc.) if you are so inclined. I also love being able to place my order online for delivery and pay with a credit card...fast and easy. The dining area itself is very small, so it wouldn't be the best choice for a family dinner. For that, go to Golden Sea. Want more authentic Chinese? Go to Bamboo. But for every other time, this is the spot. It might look like every other Chinese place from the outside, but if you actually try it I think you will be pleasantly surprised. read more

The lady who runs this place works so hard and is clearly very busy, but always takes the time to tell us she appreciates our business. My husband particularly enjoys the General Tso's, the dumplings, the boneless ribs, and the Triple Delight with Garlic Sauce. I've lived in Blue Bell for almost ten years now so I've tried all of the Chinese places in and around Blue Bell. This place is by far the worst that I've had. Not that the food is inedible, its just that it has absolutely no taste whatsoever. Not only is it the most bland Chinese food I've ever had; it's probably the most tasteless food I've had period. The only positive thing I can say is that it's really cheap and they use fancy take out containers. The China Star has the best Chinese food in the Milky Way Galaxy. Their General Tso's chicken is top notch. Did you ever wonder who General Tso was? He must have been a crappy general, but a great cook. The prices are great and the food is fresher than a prince from Bel Air. But why is it called the China Star? It's because the real star is working behind the register. Her name is Cindy and she is the kindest, nicest, person you will ever meet. She always treats me with such respect. Get this. She's a modest one. This woman was on the Chinese Olympic synchronized dive team during the 2008 Beijing Olympics. If you have some time, ask her about the Summer Games qualifier story. Have lived in the area for over a year now and this is by far our favorite place for casual Chinese takeout. Food is always ready fast even in busy times and delicious. The won ton soup always satisfies on a cold rainy day and the Sweet & Sour chicken is always crispy and hot. My favorite is their Singapore noodles - they are not shy with the curry powder and I love that because that is the best part! You also get a lot of food for the money and prices are reasonable. I went to this place to order a Szechuan Chicken dinner combo and what I got was chicken and vegetables in a salty red sauce. I mean that the sauce was so salty that you had to drink a gallon of water after taking just one taste of it. I had to go back to complain to the manager whom I told to try it but wouldn't (he just took my word for it). Then one of the cooks said that he had mistaken the salt for sugar. I told the manager that he should mark the sugar and salt containers so they wouldn't get them confused in the future. As for the replacement order goes... I've been ordering from China Star now for the last 5 months. The food is amazing, best Chinese takeout! I recently moved to Bluebell from Delaware County. I've never had food this good. I read a couple of reviews on this page and can't believe what some of these reviews people wrote. My service has been outstanding to a cashier at work attitude. Never has anyone been rude to me or forgotten food in my bag. I'm not sure if this place changed hands, but the people running it are very friendly. How many take out places do the manager/owner write their name on the menu and tell you to ask for them? If you haven't gone recently, I would give them another try! Oh and the produce/flower place next door looks awesome. Sadly I already order food when they're closed. I need to make it priority to check out that place as well. I recently moved to the area and will be ordering mine from now on too! I really enjoyed my meal last weekend and so did my family. I have a sensitive stomach and I was able to order General Tso Chicken extra mild. It was the best I ever had! Very flavorable and cooked perfectly. We also had white rice, fried rice, pork dumplings and regular General Tso Chicken with broccoli. In addition...my 1.5 year old niece said her first sentence during our dinner. I was contemplating trying a pork dumpling (I had never had one before) and everyone was telling me how I needed to try it and that it was good. After a few minutes, the room got quiet and my 1.5 year old niece exclaimed "it is good!". How is that for feedback?
