They offer dim sum, so we had some roast pork buns as appetizers. The buns had very little filling and the bread was a bit dry, as if the buns had been sitting in the warmer for awhile. (They are displayed in a warmer as you enter the restaurant.) There is no lunch menu on weekends, so we ordered from the regular menu. Prices averaged $17 to $20 per entree with seafood options averaging $23-$25. All meals are served with white rice. There are no options to switch to fried rice, unless you want to order it as an entree. My friend loves orange chicken, so that's what she ordered. Since the eatery is touted for its roast duck and roast pork, I ordered the latter. We shared both. The pork was a bit salty and a tad dry. And it needed more of it's glaze. Though I am not a fan of orange chicken, this was one of the best I have had. It was sweet, but not overly done. And the coating was light and crispy. The portions were large. We both ate and took home leftovers for our husbands. Service was spotty and rushed with only two people taking care of all the tables. I never got a straw for my glass of water, and it took a few requests to get chopsticks. One appetizer, two entrees, tax, and tip was about $57.

I recently had a terrible experience at China Star, located at 4233 West Commercial Blvd in Tamarac, FL, and I feel compelled to share my thoughts on their service. After calling in my order, which I repeated twice, my husband picked up the order which turned out to be wrong. We immediately called the restaurant and asked for the correct order to be delivered, as I was not feeling well and was unable to go out. The manager assured me that the order would be rushed out. After waiting for an hour, my husband called to check on the status of the order and was told that it would be delivered in four minutes. However, after another half-hour passed, I called and was informed that the delivery driver had a backlog of orders and was unable to make it to my home. I became frustrated and angry, so I begrudgingly went to the restaurant to pick up my order. When I arrived, I witnessed the "Backlog" delivery driver hanging out in the parking lot flittering with a girl. Once there, I was asked to wait at the restaurant while they prepared my order. We order every Friday and each time there is a mistake with the order. I have also observed several customers complaining about their orders, indicating a pattern of poor service. Overall, I cannot recommend China Star to people looking for a reliable, stress-free dining experience. The unprofessional behavior of their staff, lack of communication and follow-through, and sub-par food quality all contributed to a truly negative experience. It's discouraging to see a restaurant neglect customer satisfaction and fail to prioritize the needs of its patrons. I wonder if this is the case because they serve primarily a "Brown" community. read more

The young chow fried rice is extremely delicious. I've been to plenty of China restraints all over the world even in the Bay Area and noting compares to this. Last month I went on a business trips to Singapore and even the rice in that country isn't as good as it is in this restaurant. I even tried the crab Ragons and they aren't cheap about it like most Chinese restraints they filled it to the top and it was very filling and they actually had some visible crab meat in it. In other Chinese places that I've been to it was never like this. I really got my monies worth and definitely recommend this place to anyone or to come travel here if your not from this this area it's worth traveling. read more

In a brown sauce, there was broccoli, bok choy, pea pods, etc. It came with a side container of white rice. The rice noodles were fragrant with curry, but it only had a slight kick (as in not too spicy). There were lots of shrimp, chicken, and pork strips mixed in with the thin noodles. This dish was addictive. We are so glad we stopped to try them. Really one of the better Chinese places we've tried and certainly one of the better take-out places. Then there were the appetizers ordered two shrimp rolls and two egg rolls the wrappers on them were so thin and falling apart because they were wet and that's a first for me! Then I also ordered burnt pork ends but instead got the strips once again hardly any flavor seemed like they were sitting around for a while almost impossible to chew it was like trying to chew on a car tire! Also ordered spare ribs once again flavorless hard to chew not worth the $16 the man who took my order said very expensive do you still want and me thinking oh my daughter and son in law loved it I said no problem! I also ordered the honey garlic chicken wings which I can say were cooked right and tasted good but they could have used more sauce on them and also the wings were miniature in size! All of the other Chinese food places near us give you giant sized wings Then we ordered the house special fried rice the rice seemed like it was sitting around very dry and not much flavor plus it was more peas and carrots than anything else Also ordered the full house special lo-mien same situation as the fried rice bland the noodles were stuck together so while taking it from the container they ripped apart into small shreds not much house stuff like pork shrimp and chicken mostly carrots and peas! Our last dish was Beef with Broccoli which was so dry missing that good brown sauce that makes the meal plus the broccoli was mushy not crispy and the meat was grizzly hard to chew honestly I don't know what happened because my daughter and son in law know Chinese New York Style really well but to me it seemed like it was rushed and nothing about it was given that fresh tasty food or appearance of such plus the things I ordered from our usual go to place in Coconut Creek is almost half the price and 150% better quality and flavor! I was very disappointed and honestly the people running the store on Wednesday night were very kind and considerate so maybe it was too late as I ordered around 8:45PM but here's my thing I will give them a second chance maybe a month or so and see if it was a one off night but before I order again id like a menu with the correct prices posted somewhere online or if that's not possible if be more than happy to give my email to them! I do hope I can change this review and make it the way I had thought it was going to be! I do hope one of the owners sees this review and would like to speak with me! I'm very forgiving because people make mistakes unless you're rude to me so hopefully this all turns out for the good Thank you Sun Sun!!!
