    Custard Bun (1)

I was interested in this place because there are some items on the menu that you don't typically find on local Chinese restaurant menus: dim sum and Hong Kong style noodle soups. For dim sum I had the custard bun, which was soft and chewy on the outside with sweet filling. The sesame balls were great - A crispy sesame shell surrounding a chewy pastry ball and a sweet paste on the inside. The pork dumplings were nothing special, but good. My wife enjoyed her chicken and broccoli, which is comparable to what you find at most local Chinese places. The big disappointment for me was the beef stew noodle soup. The broth and noodles were fine, but several of the beef stew cubes were gristly and inedible. Finally, it's worth noting that even though the restaurant is called "China Tea House," they don't actually serve tea. As a matter of fact; they don't serve anything because the dining room is closed due to covid.

Disclaimer: This restaurant is currently called China Tea House I came here craving some amazing dim sum and left disappointed in that regard yet pretty satisfied with my other dish. The main reason I came here was for their dim sum but unfortunately we did not even finish half of our dimsum order as it tasted very old and freezerburned. Another reason is that the cook was sitting in the dining area eating when we arrived and was coughing pretty loud without covering his mouth and I did not see him wash his hands prior to starting our order (I could have missed it though) Dimsum; would not recommend coming here for dimsum as it is no where near fresh and did not satisfy my craving for dimsum. Tasted like very old frozen dumplings. This went for their shrimp dumplings, pork dumplings and also their pork shumai. General tso's chicken with chicken lomein and egg roll: their standard Chinese food was delicious! I've already been back just for this! Their General tso's chicken is crispy and the sauce is perfect. Their lomein is just as good! I'd recommend coming here for their rice dishes although I've only tried their General tso's but it was super good however I would NOT recommend coming here just for their dimsum. Sure while you are here order some dimsum as a tester to see how you like it but do not come here strictly for their dimsum as I am sure you'll be just as disappointed as I was.

My Favorite dish here!  Here an order of Pork Pan Fried Noodle to go split into 3 servings.

Stopped by today to get my one of my favorite Chinese dishes, the shredded chicken pan fried noodle. I was startled when I found out the signage has changed from "Asian Express" to "China Tea House". This is becoming a long, confusing story. Originally this place was Asian Express, an expansion to the original flagship location in Mechanicsburg called China Tea House. The Express was geared toward lunch and takeout orders. The Tea House was the main stake and had bigger menu and space big enough for small banquets. It even served dim sum in the weekends (hence the name "Tea House"). Then the lease for the Tea House expired and was not renewed for whatever reason, so China Tea House co-located with Asian Express through most of 2017. It was a period of chaos as they reused the menus from China Tea House while everything else (the Yelp account, the signage, etc.) said Asian Express. Now everything says China Tea House, but I am writing this Yelp review under Asian Express!!! Yeah, all this marketing confusion is not good for business. I hope the owner can make up his/her mind soon Anyway, the shredded chicken pan fried noodle I ordered did not disappoint. We also ordered Moo Shu Pork which came with 6 Chinese tortillas, hoisin sauce, and generous amount of proteins. It was very good. Today we somehow struck some luck as the owner gave us a complimentary order of sesame balls. All around we had a great experience today. I reiterate my opinion which I continue to preach to my friends and colleagues: For whatever reason, this remains the only Chinese restaurant in the area where you can order some authentic Cantonese dishes. Ask for the hard-cover menu and order the dishes that have Chinese writing next to them. You should also come during the weekend when they offer dim sum menus. If you simply order from their all English takeout menu, then this establishment would be just another run of the mill, hole in the wall Chinese takeout joint.

This is a typical Chinese fast food restaurant for American taste. Another name as China Tea House. We were mislead by google and expected some Hong Kong style food or at least some traditional Chinese food........

First off they're open on sunday. China tea house was my go to when I was in the mood for dim sum and was lazy to drive to philly. reading the reviews of AE i was afraid that the food has changed for the worst. But I was delightedly surprised when I ordered and everything was still the same. Wontons are still the same thin skin wontons, the dim sum was on point for china tea house. I have high expectations for dim sum as I only eat it in chinatown in LA/NYC and philly. Their dim sum isn't as good and big cities but for central PA it is about as good as it gets.

The gals delivering the food to cars were all smiles, too. I mentioned this to my delivery person and she said, with a smile, "well, we're known for being friendly!". Yeah, it's kind of cultish but I appreciate it! A smile goes a long way. My sandwich was delicious, the fries hot and good, and my coke bubbly, cold, and strong. Thanks! Really good spot for cheesesteaks…read more. Everyone is friendly and very helpful as far if you have any questions about how to order or what you want. I got the Lil Philly. Which is the smaller version to their big cheesesteak and comes with fries and a drink. Not bad at all in my opinion. But don't get fooled, it's a decent size and filled me up! I ordered mine with sharp provolone, onions and wiz. But you can add a lot more toppings for an up charge. The bread was soft and fresh, what I love most was that sharp provolone. It was delicious and the wiz just took it to another level. It was absolutely delicious. Their fries are nicely seasoned with salt , which is also good. You could tell they have a lot of regulars , as I sat there I saw many groups come in and out for their steak sandwiches. Definitely a good spot. It has a decent amount of tables to sit at.

Philly sports photos and memorabilia all over the walls. All the staff I interacted with were extremely nice and helpful. I decided to get the Little Philly Special which comes with a 6 inch cheesesteak, fries and a drink. I went with the cheese fries because that's just what you do. From the hoagie roll bags I saw it looks like they get the rolls shipped in from Philadelphia which is the only way to go. My only complaint besides the awful decor j/k is the whiz was runner then most cheesesteak places so dipping the fries made an unbelievable mess. Everything tasted phenomenal though. From what I saw while eating my lunch is that their hoagies are just as popular here.

I believe I found it at Big Ray's. My two dogs were just as yummy as I expected, but I could only eat one hot dog because I had to get the fresh-cut, homemade French fries. The only real question: Would Big Ray's chili dog treat me kindly? (Important considerations were made.) We arrived around 5:30pm on a chilly January Friday and quickly realized we were not alone in this brilliant decision. The dining room was already about ¾ full, which I take as an excellent sign when evaluating burger-and-dog establishments. After a quick menu scan, I locked in my order: a ¼-lb beef hot dog with chili, mustard, and onions ($4.99) plus a Diet Pepsi (because balance). Adventure Buddy went all in with the Honey Butter Chicken Club ($8.59) and an order of fried pickles ($4.99), washed down with an orange Fanta. Total damage? Under $27. Date night win already. The food came out fast and piping hot, which is exactly what you want when you're this hungry. My chili dog immediately delivered--solid flavor, generous chili, and most importantly, the hot dog was grilled, giving it that slight snap that separates the pros from the amateurs. No soggy sadness here. Adventure Buddy's chicken sandwich was also a standout. This was a legit chunk of chicken breast, not a sad, thin patty pretending to be something it's not. Crispy, juicy, and the honey butter added just the right touch of sweetness without crossing into dessert territory. The fried pickles were thick-cut, crunchy, and exactly what fried pickles should be--dangerously snackable. All around, Big Ray's absolutely delivered. Solid food, quick service, great value, and the kind of place you immediately add to your "easy yes" rotation for burgers, dogs, and sandwiches. I'll definitely be back--especially once the weather warms up and that front patio becomes fair game.

I've heard great things about Dad's Garage, so I decided to check it out on a solo Friday night…read morewhen I was seriously craving a good burger. I was hoping all the hype was true and maybe I'd even find a new spot to add to my breakfast places to try list -- but, spoiler alert, I won't be doing that. Pulled in around 5pm and found parking (miracle, since there are only about 4 or 5 spots). Inside, I was greeted right away and told to seat myself. The specials board out front caught my eye, so I went with the bacon cheeseburger croissant, upgraded my fries to chili cheese fries, and grabbed a Diet Pepsi. I was the only dine-in customer, but there was a steady flow of pickup orders. Still, a 20-minute wait for my food felt long considering it was just me sitting there listening to FM radio straight out of an 80's prom (hello, Mr. Mister's "Broken Wings"...literally). When my food finally arrived, the staff immediately realized they'd forgotten the chili cheese on the fries and whisked them back to fix it -- good save! The chili itself? Fantastic. Like, "I-need-this-on-a-hot-dog" fantastic. The fries, though...yikes. Grease was literally pooling and dripping through the basket like a leaky oil pan. The burger was fine -- solid flavor, but the proportions were off. Giant tomato and onion slices took over the show, and the croissant was way too big for the small patty. Loved the croissant idea, just needs a smaller bun or a bigger burger. Ended up eating the patty and ditching the salad-sized toppings and half the croissant. The check was the real surprise: $12.99 for the burger, $2.49 for the Diet Pepsi, and another $2.99 for the chili cheese fry upgrade -- plus a mysterious "conveenience Fee (2.99%)" for $0.55. Maybe time to run spell check before charging extra, Dad. All in all with tip, $20+ for a burger that didn't quite live up to the hype. It hit the spot for a burger craving, but not enough to make me a regular. Glad I gave it a try -- it's got potential and a great location (even if parking is a tight squeeze). But honestly, it might be time for Dad to roll up his sleeves, give the menu a tune-up, and maybe double-check that receipt printer while he's at it. Bottom line: Cool concept, great chili, and 80s prom tunes -- but for $20+, I expected a little more horsepower under the hood.
