I used to really like this place, but ithink it changed hands a while ago and it's been pretty nconsistent. I ordered my usual orange tofu and it was so dry. Barely enough sauce to coat the pieces of tofu and the broccoli was dry as a bone. The container had not a speck of sauce that wasn't clinging for dear life to the tofu. So, this is my updated review, pandemic version, of China Wok. We were over on the southside of town and craving Americanized Chinese food. We were able to order, seamlessly, on China Wok's website. Went to pick up, and they had a sign on the door that basically said "Mask = healthy, No Mask = sick". We liked that. The cashier was behind plexiglass. We had already paid and tipped online, so it was a no-touch pick-up. We had ordered dumplings, kung pao chicken, shrimp with lobster sauce. It was all good and enough for leftovers the next day. Very impressed with how easy they made the ordering and pick up and with the food. We will be back. read more

Don't waste your time or money. Szechaun chicken had a very thick, sweet sauce on it that overtook all off the fresh vegetables, and was not spicy at all. I found this spot on a rather random occasion years ago....and make special trips to the south side just for it! We were doing laundry and Googled nearby chinese and found it....(dont get mad Yelp, this was before your time!) I went in and ordered a few dishes so that we could get a wide variety. Everything is affordable and then portions were huge. I didnt expect to find my favorite chinese spot in BLM that day! I get mad cravings for their Ma Po Tofu. It is actually vegetarian here (lots of places use pork). It is the most delicate tofu and most flavorful sauce. And you can get 2 meals out of it for $7.44 after tax. The atmosphere sucks if you're looking to dine in. Its a run down little hole in the wall. I can deal with that for the quality and the price....but it isn't date worthy. read more

Nothing truly stellar here, although the lunch combo prices are pretty good and tempting. I can warn you about the crab rangoons, however. They're thick and strangely, tough. Surprisingly tough. Sharpen your fangs tough. Too tough. They do large orders really fast, however, and they're always accurate in the food orders that I've gotten. If you're a small crowd, you can dine-in, but this is very much a take-out place (and delivery should you use one of Bloomington's services). China Wok definitely has some of the better Chinese food in the Bloomington area. I've tried four different Chinese restaurants and this is by far my first preference of the ones I've tried. My husband and I got a dinner combo of the orange chicken, the regular size (quart) of the Mandarin Delight, and an order of crab rangoons and it was definitely a ton of food. Overall, the food is very good. My husband I both enjoyed the orange chicken and the Mandarin Delight. The crab rangoons were a little dry, but they are the best I've had in Bloomington. It's not the best Chinese food I've ever had, but was decent. The prices are very reasonable for the quantity of the food we got. We got three meals out of the amount of food we had and spent less than $25. This will be our go-to Chinese restaurant until we find somewhere we like better. read more

Our go to Chinese in btown! It's close, and The veggies are always very crisp and fresh, which i appreciate. Meat in these dishes is just ok for my "meat snob"-ness, beef was a little chewy in the beef and broccoli, so I tend to stick to the chicken-based dishes. This has always been my favorite Chinese takeout restaurant in Bloomington. I got to-go lunch here today for the first time since the pandemic started. I must say, it's the most impressive COVID setup I've seen for takeout in Bloomington to date. It's to-go only, so you don't have to walk through tables of people eating. Masks are also required and worn properly by staff members, which I found very encouraging. There is plexiglass separating staff members from customers, and the food and payment are exchanged through a makeshift chute in the plexiglass. This is the most comfortable I've been gathering a to-go order during pandemic times. I felt very safe and like everything was done properly. This Chinese restaurant is great for take out. They are quick and it is always good! There is not a whole lot of inside seating so it's best to call in your order to carry out. This is definitely one of the better Chinese food places in town. We tried their pork fried rice (small pieces of pork, but they were tender), the sweet and sour chicken (fried to perfection, but the sauce could have been thicker), and the veggie lo mein (garlicky, but good). The prices are reasonable, and the woman who took our order was straightforward but polite. We liked that most dishes come with the choice of pint or quart, so that you can feed more people/have leftovers if you choose to. This is Bloomington's hidden gem. I absolutely love their lunch specials! For $4.50 (lunch combo) you can get huge portions of the Main Entree and Fried Rice. Their best entree in my opinion is their General Tso's. They put so much of it that my brother and I always split it because it is seriously way too much. Best Chinese food I have found in Bloomington. My boss recommended it to me. It's Americanized Chinese food, served in a small hole-in-the-wall type restaurant, so if you're picky about these things you wouldn't be a fan. But the portions are large, the quality is decent, and the taste is good! And the food is ready fast, I might add. We got steamed dumplings, crab rangoons, and sweet-and-sour chicken. Once again, I am amazed that this place has any business. We live in the area and have been going there regularly for a couple of years but I think the time has come to quit subjecting ourselves to the rude guy who works the counter. Not only was he rude to us while ordering, he argued with us when he made our order to go when we were eating in. I know the food is good and inexpensive but I I do not need the abuse. We watched while we ate at the table with our to go containers as he continued to be rude to the other customers as well. At least he doesn't discriminate. read more
