We've been going to China Wok since I was a kid. It's now my family's go to when we don't want to head to Columbus. Even on a Friday night the wait is usually 10-15 mins for carryout. The food is typically solid. There's still no dine in option, but in my 30+ years of living we've never dined in anyways so that doesn't matter to us. Staff isn't overly friendly, but they get the job done. They forgot an item in our order a few months ago and they called me before I ever made it back home to check the order, so I call that a win. read more

China Wok is a cheap Chinese hole in the wall in Marysville. It's no good. Just looking at the outside you can tell. In this case you can judge the book by its cover. This still isn't quite as bad as it could be though. I had the House Style Tofu. It's about $8 for the regular portion. This only has the one portion size. It's kind of a weird thing, that they force you to buy the bigger portion. Maybe they're trying to get rid of it. It's served in a lousy tin foil container with a lid that doesn't stay on. The food doesn't taste like much other than MSG, so there's no need to get soy sauce to flavor it up. Skip this. A better option is Stir Fresh. They're a little more expensive but the food has taste. read more

The only real negative thing I have to say is that it's a shame they increased the prices by 50% not too long ago. What once was an $8 meal is now $12, which isn't the end of the world. Our family has been ordering Chinese food here in Marysville for years and years. The portion is big and reasonable. I've never had any complaints so far. My parents love their shrimp with lobster sauce and General Tso shrimp. I always order their steamed dumplings w special sauce, chicken noodle soup, boneless ribs, pork lo mein, beef with broccoli and General tao shrimp. The restaurant shutdown for two weeks and now they are finally open. Ordered again in my Friday off and had picnic in the park with my loving parents. They were happy with our meal. Dear China Wok. Thank you for getting my order wrong plus charging me extra for the errors. The store was not busy so there is absolutely no excuse. This was a phone in order and I had the person read it back to me and still wrong. Not complicated. Asked for no green onion on soup and you added extra (and charged extra). I also asked for white rice with my dish and was supplied a heaping serving of fried rice. This is not the first time in recent weeks that you have not assembled a correct order for my family. I suppose that I should be grateful that you finally learned (after much coaching by the community) that take away orders are tax exempt in our state. (Hence 2 stars and not 1). We eat here regularly. Best and most consistent in Marysville. They don't appear very friendly, probably due to their masks and covid partitions. Definitely geared to carryout orders; it's pretty spartan inside. Still, the service was good, the prices are great, and I actually liked the food better than the same things at Jerry's. We went to pay the woman behind the counter scratched my father's hand when grabbing the money. This place is really good, large portions and although there is seating inside it's definitely a carry out place, especially in the summer as they seem to have air conditioning but keep it running low. I have tried many things from their menu and everything has been great, I am particularly a fan of their hot and sour soup which is very good and only $3 for a large. As in most asian places you can get your food pretty quick, usually about 15 minutes. They are efficient and fast here, not real friendly or talkative so put your head down, put your order in, grab it and go. Keep in mind when ordering they have very large portions. read more

If you want Chinese in the ville you're #1 choice should be Jerry's House of Hunan. I don't think anyone in Marysville would disagree with me. The other two options are the Chinese buffett in front of Walmart or China Wok. Because Jerry's is closed on Sunday I had to go for option 2 at China Wok. The food is ok. The place is empty and cold inside, so I would recommend taking your food home and eating there. The egg rolls were good. I had the shrimp lo mein today and it is a LOT of food. Easily 2 meals. So to sum up this review, the food is decent but it will always be backup to Jerry's. read more

Before I moved to Marysville, I had their food a couple times over a year ago and it was pretty good. Recommended it to my family this evening and something has definitely changed. The General Tso's Chicken was flavorless and bland, the fried rice was bland and had little to no vegetables in it, they forgot two egg rolls in our order, and having ordered four meals there weren't even any fortune cookies in our bag. After ordering 2 combos, 1 sesame chicken with fried rice and 1 sweet and sour chicken with fried rice, the girl repeated back "1 white and 1 fried rice" and I interrupted and said no, both fried rice. Had I not interrupted, she might have said 2 sesame chicken because that is what we got. I didn't want that and am pretty sure I will never return here. There is only one dish they do a halfway decent job at making and that's General Tso's Chicken. All other dishes are disappointing. The Crab Rangoon for instance is simply crusted dough filled with cream cheese without any hint or evidence of crab flavor. The fried rice was terrible in taste and appearance. The rice was bleached light tan with hardly any seasoning and did not even resemble fried rice at all. I decided to try the Chicken Lo Mein and did not like it because they use all of the junk chicken dark meat parts in it and there is no white meat. I recently tried the Szechuan Pork and they did not bother to cut the fat off the pork pieces which I had to spit out in a napkin because there were gobs of fat. There were large pieces of undigestible celery ends that tasted like straw. Pork Lo Mein was very greasy. One of the worst Chinese restaurants I have eaten in. We walked in 1 minute past their lunch time hours and they would not serve us from the lunch menu. The cashier had to double check what was in one of the dishes. Spring rolls had meat and they are typically served as vegetarian at other restaurants. It is egg rolls that contain meat. The chow mein was served in rice, not noodles. It was very bland. The General Tso's was not spicy and way too sweet. No public restroom, you had to walk through the kitchen to use it. This is getting 5 stars just for the potsticker dumplings, which are made by hand in house. They are amazing, especially when combined with the dipping sauce. I have had dreams about these dumplings. The restaurant is typical hole-in-the-wall, specializing more in take-out than dine-in; the service is quick and accurate (even the largest orders rarely take longer than 15 minutes;) and the portions are extremely generous for the price. The large-sized entrees feed about 3-4 at ~$7-8 and the medium ($5-6) are easily enough for two. We've been eating here for years, all of their dishes are at a baseline of good with a few exceptions which venture into extra-tasty. I've never had a bad or inedible dish from this restaurant. The owners of the China Wok also own the Asian Cafe, which is the Chinese Buffet near Walmart, and both use the same recipes. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. I couldn't believe I needed to add SALT to Chinese food! Their food was flavorless, SOMEHOW. I didn't know it was possible for a Chinese restaurant to be tasteless and saltless. We ordered the crab Rangoon, which had no crab or any taste of crab, we ordered "fried rice" which needed tons of salt, and we've never heard of fried rice in our lives. I've always eaten pork fried rice and at least there was the occasional pea in it. This rice had nothing except the occasional onion piece. The sweet and sour chicken was rubber and needed salt. I've lived in Marysville all my life but had never been to China Wok, at least not that I remember. the food was great, I had the orange chicken, shrimp rice noodles, egg roll and shrimp toast. I've had better shrimp toast but I had to reheat it so that might of made a difference. The OC was a nice large portion and perfectly spicy for me, the shrimp noodles was awesome, I get it wherever I can and I haven't had a bad one yet, loved the egg roll as well. My mother had the Sesame Shrimp and she said she loved it, she also had the Crab Rangoons and said that since everyone makes them differently she couldn't really say if they were better then anyone elses but that they were good and would order them again. Outside of Columbus, there don't seem to be many good Asian restaurants in central Ohio. This one used to be good, considering where it is, but it has been getting worse and worse for years. Even though the China Wok is the only Chinese place I know of in Marysville, this is the very last time I give them a chance to get better rather than worse. I didn't care for the sauces, the batter is terrible now, and the famous potstickers are nothing like they used to be. I can definitely handle the Crab Rangoon, and the Lo Mein is one of the best things I've had here recently, even though it is substandard to say the least. My spring roll was stale and didn't taste good, just like most of the food I've had here in the last year or so. I never use the black liquid in clear packets that most small Chinese establishments like this one call soy sauce, so when I noticed three sauces in blank, clear bottles on our table next to the wall, I grabbed and smelled the one that looked like soy sauce, and sure enough, it smelled just like real soy sauce. I picked up one of the other sauces to smell it too, and the woman running the place (I don't know if she's the current owner or a manager) bum rushed me saying, "No, ours. Ours!" with her hands out, apparently wanting to snatch it out of my hands. I very politely reassured her that I would put it back on the table and did so. I understand that many of these workers, managers and owners like to take breaks and eat the food of their choice, but to horde the good sauces for themselves and leave us with only a crappy, salty, black dyed water choice for soy sauce seems ridiculous to me, and it was done in a rude manner. At any rate, I realize that a lot of this is pretty standard stuff for these types of Chinese places in the United States, but even giving the China Wok special consideration for that, they have much work to do if they're going to deserve more than two stars.
