This place was just ok my mind. It was a bit of a hole in the wall but I am no stranger to a dive. The people working there were very nice and friendly when I walked in to get my food. But the food itself was pretty mid overall. I did not finish it, the chicken was a little dry and I order General Tso's chicken and it was not like any General Tso's chicken I had ever had and the rice was a little dry. The Crab Rangoon was good though. There is really not much more to say, there wasn't really any wow factor. It was just a generic, ok tasting, Chinese restaurant. Okay, so I wound up ordering lunch from here through Uber eats and honestly the food was good, a little oily, but I think that's to be expected when you order Chinese food. I ordered a large chicken fried rice, large shrimp lo mein, lunch sized General tsos chicken with fried rice and fried potstickers. Despite being almost 30+ mins from my home the food showed up hot and in tact. I didn't care much for the general tsos chicken, idk something about that chicken just didn't taste right so I wound up tossing it and just eating the rice. Everything else was fine, the reason for the low rating is that their food is cooked in peanut/tree nut oil. My son has a peanut/tree nut allergy, but he can usually handle it in small doses. I've never had to ask for his food to be prepared separately or make note of his allergy. After a few bites of the fried rice and lo mein his lips started to swell up and he said his tongue was tingling. We've had Chinese food from plenty of places, usually order the same things, and have not had this issue before. So while the food is good, if you have any type of allergy be sure to send a note to the restaurant or call to let them know. If it's a severe allergy you'd be better off ordering elsewhere. read more

Had my annual optho appointment in Worthington today, decided to see what was in the area. Stopped by a place I haven't tried that's been around a long time, Golden China Express on E Wilson Bridge Rd. For usual takeaway, it wasn't terrible. Decent rendition of MooGoo Gai Pan lunch for $8, a quart each of tasty wonton egg drop soup and hot & sour soup, which was a little too sweet so needed some post-op doctoring with red pepper and some vinegar. 7/10, I'll be back next year! read more

Today we tried Golden China Express for the first time. We loved Hunan Lion, but it has been closed so long after a terrible fire. Golden China Express is very much nearby for us, but we didn't know what to expect. We could not have been more pleased. The Lo Mein and War Sue Gai were delicious and with generous portions. We split a large WonTon Soup which was also delicious. It was a rather large order, as we included friends, and enjoyed the meal together. The online order was easy to complete and it was ready for pickup when promised. There were absolutely no mistakes in the order and we were all pleased with the taste of all the menu items. I've only ordered takeout from here but it was worthy of a review! The Shrimp egg rolls are some of the best in Columbus. Whole shrimp, fresh veggies, a crispy wrapper make for a delicious bundle of joy to eat!! Also of note is their Chicken and Rice soup, which seems to have magical, mystical healing powers (YRMV) and is extremely tasty! The broth is perfect and nice big pieces of chicken. The rice holds up nicely and is filling and healing! I get 2 quarts at a time since it's priced very economically! Finally - the Pork Fried Rice - really good and loaded with Umami tender pork pieces and just the right amount of veggies and sprouts and egg. As you come up to this restaurant you wouldn't notice much but the food is super good. I only got one thing off the menu but I witnessed it freshly prepared and it was delicious. I ended up getting the Quart of hot and sour soup and it was some of the best I had. There was a ton of mushrooms, tofu, bamboo shoots, and egg in the soup. The spices were really nicely mixed and It was so full of veggies that it made itself into a full meal. The guy at the front counter was super nice and was super helpful when I asked if he liked the hot and sour soup. The food is amazing. Customer service, however, is not. Had a lady screaming at us and rushing us to complete our order when we had never been there before and the place was empty by the way. She rudely interrupted us while we were discussing the menu. Then got angry and started tapping her cashier screen and kept interrupting us. If I wasn't in sales I would have lost it on her but I know how to de-escalate situations like this. We were kind, who knows maybe she was having a tough day? I was that person and ordered a little close to closing but this place came through and even through in some free crab rangoons, egg drop soup, and made my night of being able to eat until I hate myself. Green Bean & chicken - beans were excellent, crispy and fresh. I would get this again. Hunan Beef - Not very spicy but decent. Up-charged to get brown rice. This one was the pits. I thought it was the healthy brown grain rice, but no, they took white rice and dumped soy sauce all over it to make it brown. We ordered delivery and the food is delicious. I ordered the combination plate for sesame chicken and chicken egg foo young. You're able to order through their website which is convenient and delivery took about 40 minutes after ordering. The only thing is they charge a dollar extra for fried rice. Our family has tried MANY other Chinese take out places but this is BY FAR the best in Worthington. Service is quick (usually within 10-15 minutes) and the food is excellent - consistently. We have a special order (chicken and broccoli with General Tso sauce) and they have always been accommodating. We have even worked with them to make a vegan tofu dish for my daughter. My only complaint is that the woman who answers the phone has a bit of a language barrier and not the best disposition.
