The massage was fine, but everything changed when I went to the front desk to leave. The massage therapist and the front desk manager immediately began demanding a tip. I offered to leave between $10 and $20, which I thought was a reasonable gratuity. They refused and told me they only accepted tips of $50 or more because im union. I was shocked and asked why they expected such a large tip. They replied that customers pay that amount "all the time." To be clear, there was no language barrier or misunderstanding. We both understood each other perfectly. They repeatedly insisted that I needed to leave a much larger tip. After going back and forth for several minutes, I became extremely uncomfortable and told them that since tips are optional, I no longer wanted to leave one at all because of how I was being treated. Instead of respecting my decision, they became even more upset and continued demanding a tip before I left.
