Think of every stereotype one might have about a Chinatown massage ... and you have this falsely-named massage place. I don't even want to dignify it as a "spa" because it is a poorly-staffed, money-making machine. There seems to be some sort of unsaid rule about food reflexology places that a foot massage is still an excuse for them to give you some kind of full-body massage. I'm sure someone is reading this and thinking I am crazy for complaining, but the truth is that I only want someone to give me a full body massage if they know what the fuck they are doing. And my "masseuse" clearly did not. Where to begin? 1. I signed up for the $49 one-hour massage and they insisted I pay up front. They grumbled about me not having cash, but whatever. 2. My whole massage felt half-assed. I was too tall for the table, my legs half-dangled into the foot-soaking bath, and my "masseuse" kept looking at the clock. 3. After the 30-minute foot massage, which was nice, she closed the curtain completely and then started to squeeze my whole body. It dawned on me that I could have asked for a handjob or anything at this point, especially when she asked if I wanted to take off my pants for "oil." I declined. 4. She started to squeeze my stomach and actually made fun of it. Again, she asked if I could take off my shirt for "oil." I declined. I felt like that one time when I was propositioned in the DR ... 5. I do not recommend this place. My husband and I stopped for a quick 30 mins foot and body massage. They made us pay upfront for the massage(paid with CC). When my husband was signing the receipt, they started asking if we gonna tip them in cash or on the card (we haven't even got the massage yet). So I said that I'll add tips after the massage. Very kind gentleman that worked the front. He was alone at the time that my friend and I came in, and was nice enough to take her to work on while waiting for his next appointment to come in. The feel of this location is very relaxing, as the water sounds and look of the room makes you feel at ease. My friend loved her foot massage, as it's exactly what we needed from walking around Boston all day. Care and time was taken in the work, and the price was an amazing deal. 30 dollars for 30 mins is quite worth it. I bought a groupon for an hour long reflexology and massage. It was a waste of money. I am a student and therefore don't have a lot of money in the first place, so I hate the feeling that I wasted money on what I had hoped would be a relaxing experience. First of all, this place is really small. I was led into a "room" with a recliner/massage table that was really just separated from the rest of the place by a couple walls and a curtain. This was fine in the respect that I did not have to change for the massage, but it also meant that I could hear the loud conversation in Chinese between the other employees at the front desk. That doesn't really set the mood for relaxation. The guy who performed the massage was very nice, but I felt as though he didn't know a thing about massaging. I've had better massages from friends who know nothing about massage. When I was lying on my stomach, I felt as though he was just pushing down on my back in a way that made me feel as though he was trying to push me into the massage table. I had high hopes for an authentic reflexology experience, but this part of the massage was really lacking too. I thought the point of reflexology was to press into trigger points in your feet that are connected with different organs. Instead, it just felt really dull. And also, the masseur pulled my toes to try to make that cracking sound of my toe joints. I hate that! But I didn't know how to tell him not to do that since I don't think he understood English well! M friend gave me Groupon for a couple massage that is an hour long. I showed up on time for my appointment but my boyfriend was 40 minutes. They waited and took us in. Our body and foot massage lated more than an hour...wow!! Usually they spot on the dot or a few minutes before an hour. The place is not too big. They have three individual rooms and one big room that can fit up to 3 people. We were in that big room. The place was clean, new, neat. The massage tables were new. Service was awesome! I love getting reflexology massages. When I saw a groupon, I jumped on the occasion. It was upstairs on the second floor and was fairly clean. The only downside for cleanliness is if you use their bathroom, there are no paper towels to dry your hands off and it's a very small tight space. The massage was HORRIBLE! I felt like I was being manhandled the entire time. I kept having to tell her to be more gentle. At one point I thought I was going to loose my face and leave with bruises. This massage was supposed to relax me but in the end it gave me more anxiety. It was supposed to be relaxing but the people were screaming at each other in Chinese, mind you they were right next to each other. The sign very clearly states to be quiet out if respect for others relaxing. How can you relax when they are screaming at each other? The atmosphere is great but you can hear all of the ambulances that go by to the hospital down the street. If you're looking for heavy pressure then go here...I will not be back. Giving it 5 stars for good service, clean looking and calming atmosphere. We had a groupon deal for an hour bodywork and foot reflexology combo. I thought they focused more on the body more but it was still awesome. My back is very sensitive and for me not to tense up much was great. When you walk in they have you soak your feet in a hot bath and then they start working from your head to shoulder, arms and then your back and end with your feet. I had foot relexology before and compared to this one it's more of a lighter type of reflexology they didn't pinpoint every pressure point on your feet but it was still very good. Overall, even without a groupon deal I would definitely come back. Side notes: I went w/ my sister and we both was in the same room and it's not a fancy spa place your fully clothed so I recommend wearing a light tank top and pants you can roll up to your knees. read more

I was very happy after using my Groupon here the other day. I left completely relaxed and nearly fell asleep during the foot portion of my mixed 90 minute session. The back and leg portion was a lot rougher then I expected but it really helped loosen me up. Its definitely a no frills place and the "privacy" was in the form of a curtain. When I called to schedule an appt to use a groupon I was told I could not before 5pm. This is not in the fine print, but I agreed to 4:30pm. When I arrived the woman at the front desk said no Groupons after 4. I had to argue with her and she finally agreed to let me have my appt and she took me to the massage room. As I was taking my coat off she told me "20 dollar minimum tip", I said "what?" And she repeated it. It seemed this woman I had had to argue with was going to be my masseuse and I was not comfortable at all especially after she tried to demand a tip amount up front. I have a decent amount of tension areas. And they hit them. However, they hit them and left. Other places I've had massages have worked on my problem areas for longer to work out the knots and the tension. They soaked my feet in warm water with little round things at the bottom. Massaged my feet, then worked the rest of my back and arms. They use a pretty strong pressure, which I personally like, but for someone that prefers a lighter touch you might want to tell them sooner rather than later. I was quite excited to use my 60 min reflexology and bodywork Groupon that my brother has gifted me (he bought it in July and I scheduled an appointment in Dec). Scheduling was not a smooth ride. The receptionist I spoke to barely spoke any English and even though the Groupon rules stated it's valid from Monday-Friday, the lady said that I had to come between Monday-Thursday. To avoid any more arguments, I scheduled an appointment for Monday.. Anyways upon arriving at the spot, I was asked to wait for 5 mins. The next few mins were spent on my Groupon details and when I said I was gifted the Groupon in July, she told me that the Groupon had expired even though the Groupon said expiration was not for another month. After some back and forth I was asking to wait for a few more mins. My masseur was a middle aged Asian man who spoke no English and in my opinion didn't know the ABC of massaging. The only thing he did was kept rubbing my muscles/sole, pressing my muscles/soles and elbowing/slapping my back. It was uncomfortable and when I tried telling him that, he said "oh lighter" and kept continuing what he did. When I winced because I was in pain after his constant elbowing/beating, he said "bad back" and continued what he did. At the end when I wanted to complain, the receptionist/owner was busy talking to another employee in Chinese and didn't even look when I was waiting. I left in disappointment. This was hands down the worst massage I received. I don't recommend going here unless you speak Chinese/Mandarin.. Never again. read more

This place is the worst. I have no idea why I decided to give this place another go, but we cashed in our groupons on a Tuesday night. I called early and asked for a 7 PM appointment. She said OK.. and then said "No, too late." We negotiated on time for awhile (which was already annoying, since I knew 7 was available but the staff must've wanted an early day). She finally agreed and said, "OK, you have coupon?", to which I responded we did. Then she hung up abruptly. When we arrived, the receptionist asked us for the groupon. We had the 90 minute foot/body groupon. All of a sudden, the receptionist got super upset and ranted in Chinese for awhile to the other staff who were just sitting in the waiting room. She accused me of lying and saying on the phone I had the 60 minute groupon! One, what should it matter, I can see your appointment book on the desk, there are no more appointments after us. Second, you never asked, don't accuse me of lying!! The other staff just snickered in Chinese, which I didn't appreciate either. That's just rude. Having already been put off by the experience, I should have left. Really. But the receptionist, with big huffs and puffs, finally sat us down in the back room with flat recliners, and left. Without any instructions. We waited in there for about 10 minutes before two masseuses-- one of whom happened to be the receptionist-- came back with two buckets of hot water. They stuck our feet in the hot water and left again for 10 minutes. The massage finally started, first the feet, then back-- the male masseuse for me, the female receptionist for my husband. Some fun bullet points: 1.) The massage seriously felt like weird touching. Seriously, if you're not using any pressure while massaging me, you're just touching me. Just stop. 2.) The two masseuses kept talking in Chinese to one another while massaging us. I've been to other Chinese massage places, in NYC and Boston, and while I admit this is pretty normal, I've never had massages where they talk non-stop. Seriously, they didn't stop talking for 20 straight minutes. Normally I'd ignore it, but I was already pissed off from the episode at the front desk, so I literally opened my eyes and stared at the female receptionist, who was doing the majority of the talking. SHE SEES ME GLARING, and she STILL doesn't stop talking! I've never seen anyone more dense. Or maybe she knew what I was doing and just didn't care. Either way, I finally had to ask her if she could please refrain from talking during the massage. She pretended not to understand me and made me repeat myself three times. Then gave me sad puppy dog eyes as if I just shot her puppy. Seriously. Me. The one who paid good money to be accused of lying, only to receive a mediocre massage, all while listening to your life saga in Chinese. 3.) The male masseuse COUGHED IN HIS HAND AND THEN KEPT MASSAGING ME. He was a larger fellow, sniffling and snorting his mucous the entire time, which in and of itself is disturbing to listen to during a massage-- and then I heard coughing being blocked with his hand, and then I felt his hands on me again!! I thought I was imaging things because no way could you be that gross, but I opened my eyes, watched him as if in slow motion, cough into his hand several times, then keep massaging my feet!!!! If this happened once, then maybe, MAYBE, you get a pass, I guess. But he did this multiple times, at least 5 or 6 times, during the massage. WHY. 4.) We walked in at 6 PM. After the arguing at the front desk, leaving us in the room, soaking our feet in the water, we started the massage at 6:30. The masseuses stopped our massages at 7:30. We paid for a 90 minute massage, and got a 60 minute one. Unethical. That would've normally pissed me off, but I just wanted the grossness to end. I'd like to start this last part by saying, I am a GOOD tipper. I am a fantastic tipper. I always tip 20% at restaurants, and my last hair appointment I paid 20 bucks tip on a 40 dollar trim because I didn't have the guts to ask for change back on my twenty. I make up stories in my head about why this cab driver would need an extra 5 on top of the tip I already gave him because I'm a sucker. But today. Today, the receptionist pissed me off. You have to be a really crappy person for me to hate you more than the guy's hocking up lougies and coughing into his hand to touch me repeatedly. No, the receptionist's lack of consideration of all things customer service, and basic human-ness, pissed me off. I'm sad to report I was still too much of a chicken to give nothing. We tipped $10 on groupons that cost $50 each, which in my opinion was still ridiculously generous. As we were leaving, the receptionist had the audacity to look at the money, then back to us, with the same "You-just-shot-my-puppy" eyes, and actually say, "That's so cheap..." I had recently purchased a $32 groupon for 30min foot and 30min body massage for this spa. My initial expectations were exceded with such great customer service as well as flexibility in terms of appointment times. It all seemed to be going great until the actual massage started. The gentleman who was massaging me began in the head/neck area, then moved to the feet for 30min and then completed with a painful back massage. The massage itself was a little too much force for me to handle. I told the gentleman multiple times to "lighten up a little" and he acknowledged but didn't listen. I even sat up at one point to tell him to back off a little and he continued to institute WWE wrestling flying elbows into my spine. There was a point I couldn't even breathe because the pain was too much. Even with a language barrier, I think squeamishness and cries of pain is a universal sign to stop. Not only did the masseuse not listen to my preferences, the towels they used to massage your back also lead to significant 'rug burn'. If you are willing to touch my feet a little oil on the back won't hurt either! As I limped outside the massage room in agony I felt the need to tip the gentleman for the sake of it. I paid him $6 for a $32 groupon (roughly 20%). He proceded to tell me "give me $10 this isn't enough". I couldn't believe my ears! I told this guy that I wasn't happy with the massage and he said "I needed it and its ok.' I'm not exactly sure what that meant but that was enough to make me stay away from this place for good. A group of 3 of us arrived on a gloomy sunday late afternoon. we wanted foot massages before getting on a plane. we arrived and it was quiet. so they were able to take us right away and we were all in the same room together. i regret not asking about prices because we made the assumption that the foot massage was going to cost somewhere around $20-30 like other places that have these spots. So my foot gets soaked in lukewarm almost cold water. then I'm asked to lay down and the foot massage begins. the woman i got i think was not very good. she rubbed my shin bone until it hurt and i had to speak to her about it. my biggest complaint is that her phone rang during the service and she picked it up! Seriously? I was not able to relax at all. She also stepped on my glasses, i wasn't told where to put everything. my two companions liked their masseuses. I have had better massages at many other places, even sitting in the chairs! The biggest surprise was when we went to pay and was told the service cost $65 each person. I was going to further question it but there were three people who were eyeing us in the small reception room. Again it was our fault for not asking about the prices and assuming otherwise. This place is located on a second floor. It's not fancy, doesn't look like a salon. I felt left out when I came here. Everyone's speaking in Chinese. I had a confusing conversation with the lady who was manning the front entrance/counter. The staff is very friendly though. My aunt and I were led into a dark room. We were told to take our pants off and wear a paper pants. I know that didn't sound right but I was wearing skinny jeans and the massage they give you is from the foot to the knee. I didn't feel comfortable at first. We laid down on the single beds/cots(?) with our lower legs dangling. We were assigned male masseuse each. But boy, were they professional. They just worked on our legs. They were very quiet! No talking between the two of them while my aunt and I were yapping away lol. I relaxed after that. Anyway I told the man to go easy on the massage coz my legs started to hurt. He was that strong. We soaked our feet at first in a basin of warm water with some kind of ointment on it. My sister and I went and were able to have a room with two chairs and they took such great care of us! There were a few issues with our appointment but they absolutely redeemed themselves! Rarely do I take time to rate places. However, this experience was so bad, I feel others should be made aware. Going to Healthy Foot Spa Reflexology. was a Seinfeld episode waiting to happen. The title of the episode..."you get what you pay for". I will begin by telling you that my 'therapist" took a call while massaging me and then left the room to end the conversation". We arrived at our apt on time and we were told that someone, with my name, had called and moved our apt out 1/2 and hour. ??? Why would I do that and then show up on time? We could not be flexible with our time as we had to meet others later, so we waited and got in for messages at 1:30. The waiting room is small and unimpressive, to be kind. It felt dirty. The staff seemed to argue in front of us as to how they would now fit everyone in. When it was our "turn" we went in to a small room that doesn't have a door, just a curtain to shut from others passing by. My "therapist" didn't shut my curtain, so the light from the street was shining in as she gave her "treatment". The music was nice, but the entire time I listened to sirens and a girl in the waiting room talk on her cell phone. I heard her whole conversation and then listened as the girl at the reception desk turned away the 1:30 appts. my friend and I had now taken over, because of the error in our scheduling. I then heard the receptionist tell the next person to come in that she never had an appointment for her AT ALL! This new customer explained that she had made the apt 3 weeks in advanced and it took an hour to get to the apt. She was baffled as to how this could happen. In the end there was nothing she could do and had to plan to come back much later in the day. I will say that my friend did say her therapist, a man, was excellent. I was still awe struck that my therapist felt that it was ok to take a phone call in the middle of a session, when as she rubbed my lower back,, she kneeled on the table ....and my ponytail. I thought I was going to burst out laughing. How much worse can it get? My advice, pay the extra money and go somewhere else. Not worth it. George Kastanza read more
