I go here at least once a week. The owners and employees are very friendly. The portions are enormous! The egg rolls and lo-mien are the best in town. I get the same thing every time (but do try different things every once in a while) and the kid on the phone usually finishes my ordering for me. This place was a disappointment. I had the general tsos tofu and the sauce was just so bland it was shocking. Their egg rolls were pretty good, just the main course was just really bad. We eat there a lot because they deliver and there food is the best... the staff is friendly and it's nice to find a place that deliver and I had almost every thing on menu and never was disappointed. They have very fast delivery and take out. U just have to try there scallion pancakes are very good.. there mei fun is also very good. We have been here a few times and our experience overall regarding food is average. But there needs to be more attention to cleanliness. When I arrive to pick up our order, there was no one out front. I rang the bell several times (in 2-3 minutes intervals) to let someone know I was out there. Finally, a person came out. Her shirt was filthy and it looked like she was in back doing dishes. She proceeded to wipe her hands on her shirt, then with her hands still wet, take my card, hand my wet card back to me, then grab the bag which was also ended up getting wet. To not take the time to wash and dry her hands is just inexcusable. The food was not good and my son ended up not feeling well, which is an indication of bacteria and poor food handling. My wife didn't even eat her meal after I told her my experience. That was the last time we will go back there. I'd rather drive to Hanover where the service is far better, the restaurant is cleaner, and the food is delicious. read more

Ordered for delivery at 6:45 pm and was told 40 min. Called 1 hour 10 min later and said was coming. Called again 50 min later and was told coming and hung up on. I live 5 min away. 2 hours for Chinese delivery with rude phone service is really bad in my opinion. read more

I'm so happy this place reopened in the local area. We have other Chinese restaurants who specialize in certain items that are also yummy, but I have to say that this place takes the cake on value for food quality and quantity. I've started frequenting Chinatown Kitchen because the food is delicious and the owners are very nice. I don't recommend eating there because it's limited for space inside. I do, however, recommend ordering take-out or delivery. I don't know what the delivery time is for them (I don't live in town), but if you order take-out, give them extra time to finish your order--they're busy! It usually takes them about 30-40 mins from the time I place my order until they're ready to give it to me...now, mind you, I'm ordering for my family so we order a lot of food! :) read more

I looked on their menu and the food was very cheap so I decided to order some food and it wasn't very good. The food was too salty and sweet. I just didn't like it. I usually go to Ping's but I decided to try the other Chinese restaurants in Gettysburg and I'm going to stick with going to Pings when I'm craving chinese food. read more

My friend and I went to Gettysburg National Cemetery and on the way home we stopped at Chinatown Kitchen to order take out. Since my friend was feeling unwell ( she is an older woman with diabetes), I went to the restaurant to place the order for her. A middle-aged Chinese woman with limited English took my order. I gave her a $20.00 bill to pay for an order of $9.80. I waited patiently for the money and was somewhat surprised when the woman gave me 20 cents back. I told her I had given her a $20.00, but she insisted I had given her a $10.00. Instead of arguing with the employee, I stepped outside to call my friend into the restaurant. It wasn't my money, so I wanted her to be aware of the situation which was developing. I confirmed with my friend she had given me a $20.00. I then informed her the employee was insisting I had given her a $10.00. My friend came into the restaurant to talk to the woman. The restaurant employee again insisted several times a $10.00 bill was given to her. At this point, my lovely friend said to me, "Don' worry about it. I know I gave you a $20.00 bill. It isn't worth the hassle". Morale of the story" Walk gingerly and with great caution when exchanging money in this restaurant. read more
