I don't usually leave reviews, but after my experience today, I feel compelled to share. I ordered takeout and was incredibly disappointed with the quality of the food and even more so with the customer service. I ordered the beef and broccoli and received what was essentially a container full of barely cooked broccoli. It was maybe 80% broccoli with hardly any beef to be found. The house noodles, which usually come packed with a variety of meats and shrimp, came with maybe five or six shrimp--no other meat. As for the General Tso's chicken, it was overloaded with broccoli as well, which is not how it's ever come before. I have ordered from here for over 6 years ago. The last time we ordered we were a bit disappointed but not nearly as much as today. When I called about the food, the woman who answered was rude. I was told I was wrong and that's how it has always come which is a lie. They refused to replace or refund. If you want good Chinese food in Gettysburg go to the outlets. read more

We love the General Tso's Chicken, the Eggplant with Garlic Sauce and the dumplings, but you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The best Chinese food in the Gettysburg area. I just moved here and have been trying out all the takeout places in town, and this place is by far my favorite for Chinese night. The portions are large enough to be split into separate meals, and for the same price as a fast food meal. Compared to other places in town, I have found the best bang for my buck here, plus the food is SO GOOD, and always fresh. The owners seem very nice and professional. Both times I have gone, I've had to wait about an extra 5-10 minuets past my quoted time but they seemed busy so it was understandable, just something to keep in mind if you're in a rush. read more

Decided to try this Chinese Restaurant after reading other favorable Yelp reviews. Ordered a take out lunch for two of Wonton soup (qt), two pork egg rolls, and House Special Fried Rice (small) The Wonton soup was delicious and I especially liked the pork strips and spring onions. The pork egg rolls were also quite tasty with a generous portion of pork. The House Special Fried Rice was excellent....very nice with generous portions of shrimp, pork, and chicken. The order was ready for pick up when I arrived in ten minutes. Total with tip was $15.00. Awarded 4 stars (and not the top five stars) because the the restaurant is quite dingy and unkempt looking, and although very good the food choices I ordered were not the very best I've ever had. Service is terrible. I have gone into this restaurant twice. The first time I went in rang the bell multiple times and no one came out to take my order. I gave it a few minutes cause maybe they were busy. About 5 min later I tried it again. No response. The second time I tried it I called to ask if they have miso soup. They say yes and that they can make it for me. I say I will be there in 5 min. I get there 10 minutes before closing walking through the rain for the doors to be locked. I see workers in the back wearing airpods as I knock on the door multiple times. If they just said. Hey, the restaurant is closing soon I can't today on the phone I would be totally chill with it. But no they said they would make it. I can't speak for their food. But their service is utterly terrible. read more

This won ton soup will ruin all other won ton soups for you. They will taste watery and sub par. This family made soup has strips of meat and is packed with won tons. When I am am sick I ask for just the broth because it is an elixir to my fevered body. Chinatown kitchen is a favorite of my families. Kids love the sweet and sour chicken, which comes with the sauce on the side. They like to dip their battered chicken into the sauce. I love their wontons, general Tao's chicken, beef and broccoli, fried cheesy wontons. They make good tofu dishes. They have cold Snapple tea and drinks on hand. Jackie and his family make us feel very welcome here. When my kids were sick with Covid, even though they do not deliver, he offered to run the food to our door. We really appreciate the consistent quality food and neighborly vibe of Chinatown Kitchen, and will continue to get take out from here often! read more

I tried it for the first tome today and really enjoyed it! I ordered the shrimp lo mein lunch special and a shrimp egg roll. The prices are great and the portions are huge! When I called in to place my order it rang forever. I almost hung up when someone had finally answered. He was very nice and made sure he had my order right before he hung up the phone. These guys are located off the square, so finding a place to park can be tricky. When I arrived and opened the door they have a table blocking the entrance so people cannot come in as a precaution due to COVID. My order wasn't ready yet so I waited outside where they had a heater to keep patrons warm. The food itself was very good. The shrimp lo mein was packed with veggies, and had a fair amount of shrimp in it. It came with their pork fried rice which was pretty good as well. I don't like onions and it had huge chunks of onions in it. Luckily because they were so big I could easily pick them out. The portions were enormous. I basically ate two lunches - one at 12, and then again at 2. I still have enough for one more meal! The shrimp egg roll wasn't the best I've ever had, but it was good. Almost entirely take out Chinese. Nice people with an adorable child. They make a tasty Ginger Chicken and Egg Drop Soup. I think their larger business neighbors are bullying or discriminating against them. I sat outside a closed business nearby (Lulu's Finest ice cream) to eat my food, and was yelled at by the driver of a passing car who is apparently Lulu's owner. She explicitly said she didn't want me there because she has a problem with the Chinese place. I understand of course is it their table, but no harm could possibly have come to them. I didn't even make a mess. Chinatown Kitchen is pretty good. The neighbors at Upper Crust and Lulu's are nasty. Just my experience over 15-30min as a hungry tourist. read more

10/10 DO NOT recommend Chinatown Kitchen in Gettysburg. This restaurant is incredibly careless. I ordered 2 pork egg rolls and informed the call taker of a serious shrimp allergy. I got home and took a bite out of my egg roll and it had shrimp. I called the store back and informed them. The female who answered my call stated she didn't see the issue about giving me a shrimp egg roll and the will not issue a refund. She also stated she didn't care about the mess up because they haven't made egg rolls in over 3 hours (which means ours were just re heated) and it's not like they tried it. There are only 2 small tables so it is a take out or delivery restaurant. We ordered MuShu Shrimp for 2 of us. The serving was more than enough for both of us. We had some left over for the next day. The food was flavorful with more than 10 shrimp & included a whole bag of MuShu wrappers. The week before we had visited the Markham district in Toronto, which some friends insist has the best Chinese food in North America. While the Chinese restaurants there were good their servings were smaller & more expensive for similar food offered by the Chinese Kitchen. While waiting for our food we chatted with the friendly owner. Following her husband's job moves she had operated restaurants in Orange County, CA & Vicksburg, Mississippi. I don't ever bother with writing reviews but after my experience with Chinatown Kitchen last evening I feel it's necessary. Like most restaurants following the pandemic, Chinatown's prices went up, way up beyond reasonable. That might be okay but their quality is worse than cafeteria food. In fact I have had better Chinese food out of a can. And whatever you do, don't buy the "House Fried Rice" special. it's all their leftover protein products from the night before. Chinatown Kitchen helped me survive through college and continues to be one of my favorite chinese restaurants to this day. Whenever I am in Gettysburg I have to get some CTK. Really all the food I have had is phenomenal, food is always ready on time, deliveries never fail, and it's so so so cheap! The hot and sour soup is the most loaded, flavorful, and tasty hot and sour soup I have ever had (seriously I get a lot of hot and sour soup, and no other place has matched CTK) and the Szechuan Tofu is one of my top 10 favorite dishes anywhere. Every item I have ever had an item on the lunch special menu (especially the General Zhao's) I was more than satisfied, and it lasts for at least 2 meals! Honestly, this restaurant is just that good. I ordered wonton soup, BBQ ribs, shrimp egg foo young (EFY), and egg rolls. It was excellent. I normally judge an Asian food restaurant by its soup. The soup was hot and the broth was very flavorful. The dumplings were light and delicious. The ribs were meaty. The EFY came with the sauce on the side which was wonderful. The sauce was smooth and flavorful and not thick and greasy. The EFY patties were light with plenty of shrimp and vegetables. It was not greasy. The meal was substantial with generous portions. I could not eat it all. I sincerely loved this meal. The only set back was that I has to buy $25 worth of food to get delivery. Pushing that aside. I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

Two of my children liked their sweet and sour chicken. My oldest daughter said the steak fried rice was bland. LOVE this place. I mean...love it. The food is fresh, fast, plentiful, and delicious. We go there whenever we're in town. It's a lot of food for not a lot of money and you can usually get a couple of meals out of one order. The rangoons are some of the best I've ever had. Chinatown Kitchen is about as good as it gets for $10 takeout. Till you're paying three times as much and seated, there's not much more you can ask for. They make good food, about the best Gen Tsos I've had(crispy, yes!), throw in extras, portions are super generous and at a very reasonable price. My family loves this place. We get food here from time to time,since we are not very close to it, but is one of the best Chinese places around our area. Portions are huge! You can feed two people with one order. Dumplings are the biggest I ever have had. I read other reviews here about the prices, but in reality the prices from their website are not updated yet, however the difference is very insignificant ( couple of cents different). Also is very clear on their menu that the delivery is $10 minimum order but only to certain areas of Gettysburg. Food is delicious and the staff is really nice as well!
