We decided to try out Chinese Kitchen Express to see what the hype was about, and it definitely delivered! We actually went inside and although it was really small it was clean and neat. There were 2 order kiosks and multiple decors pertaining to Bruce Lee. We ordered their Boneless Chicken Combo with an Egg-roll & Shrimp Fried Rice ($12.95) & their Beef and Broccoli Combination with Double Shrimp Fried Rice ($14.95). The portions were HUGE! The taste was so delicious as well. For the price, this was definitely a steal. Of course, China Doll is still on my favorites, but don't sleep on Chinese Kitchen Express. Yes traffic and the line was too crazy but the food is worth the wait. Literally the original recipe from the original location on Carrollton. I would suggest ordering and picking up. Extra points for having a drive thru. I did wait about 20-30 minutes in the drive thru but the food still came out hot and fresh. I did go during the soft opening so the wait was to be expected. I just hope they open a location in Metairie. If you're in the area, try this place out! 100/10. read more

The chicken is really good, with a subtle kick of spice that's different from what you'd typically expect from a Chinese dish. The rice is solid as well not the best I've had, but still good. I'd definitely recommend it, as long as you don't mind waiting about 20 minutes in line. At the moment there is no inside dining only drive through. read more

So this place is drive through only right now but it moves pretty fast regardless of the cars being all the way to the street. There are only 3 menu entrees (1.boneless chicken; 2. bone-in chicken; and 3. shrimp and broccoli) So first...the good.....boneless chicken is pretty good for a takeout place. Fried fresh, not overly breaded, and has a kick from spices. The bone in chicken is pretty much the same but doesn't have the spice of the boneless chicken. The rice is also tasty and has a good helping of shrimp, seasoning, and flavor. It also reheats well. Now what I didn't like at all was the shrimp and broccoli. The broccoli was so overcooked and mushy. I also was expecting more of a teriyaki like sauce on the broccoli but it was something else. The cashier was pretty nice as well. Good nostalgia that's the shrimp fried rice I've been missing! Had a late night craving. Went on a Saturday night at and got in the drive-thru line at 930. And I was to the street but not for long. It took 30 minutes total. Waiting in line to get the gold but it was worth it. The menu is very condensed. They only have boneless chicken(with a variety of sauces available that they put on the side)a wing plate and Shrimp and broccoli plate as the mains But they doing well. I recommend checking them out. If you remember the old Chinese kitchen on Carrollton the the rice is definitely familiar in a good way. read more

The food is giving classic Chinese Kitchen on Carrollton pre-Hurricane Katrina in the best way possible. Every visit, the food comes out piping hot and fresh. The menu is currently limited, but I'm a firm believer in if it's not broken, don't fix it, and in this case, it's working beautifully. They've recently added cho cho's to the menu, and they are delicious so light, airy, and filled with goodness. Definitely worth the try. The line stay long but if you go in the evening it's much lighter! read more

I arrived in the drive through at 11:04 on a Monday and I was third in line. It took about 20 minutes for the car at the speaker to finally move. At this point there was no way to get out of line. After the first car ordered, the line moved at a good pace and staff was friendly. I kept hearing not so great reviews of the food but I think it was due to comparisons of the original Chinese kitchen. I thought the food was good and I was full afterwards. You can get a side of fried rice for in the regular to go box. Yes those are the eggrolls in the photo. Not fat like we know it to be. (I get it - inflation, but dang) Third smells like but slightly taste like it. Mediocre at best. Fourth - No wontons!!!!!! You have to be kidding me!!!! Once I received the food , the chicken was dark , smelled burnt . when I returned it the staff was acting confused . They took the plate back , held it for a couple of minutes then retuned it to me .
