Worst massage experience I've ever had. Before the massage even started, the lady asked for payment $60 for an hour FULL BODY MASSAGE and a TIP upfront. I told her I would tip after the service instead. Right away, the experience went downhill. She told me to lay on my stomach and spent the first 15 minutes just lightly rubbing my back with almost no pressure at all. When I asked her to go harder, she suddenly became too rough and actually hurt me. I got so uncomfortable that I let out a huge sigh. I checked the clock and realized she had only been rubbing my back the entire time. Then she suddenly said another lady would take over. The second lady did better, but she also focused only on my back. My chest was starting to hurt from laying in the same position for so long, so I asked if they were going to massage my head, legs, and arms too since I paid for a FULL BODY massage M. I don't think she understood me because she only massaged my feet for a few minutes and then said, "That's it. Done." The timing was also misleading. They started touching me around 9:05 PM and finished at 9:55 PM !! not even a full hour. I was so frustrated that I just walked out. Then the first lady literally ran after me asking for a tip. Amazing!!! This is hands down the best $25 massage I have ever gotten....and I get them quite frequently (the cheap kind) but I have never received a "reflexology" massage like this one before...it felt like an actual body massage. Ming went through the pressure points but found all my knots and worked at it. He was so detailed and precise. During my massage he stretched/ cracked my spine, hips and neck. I really felt like I went to a chiropractor and got aligned. There is no communal rooms and all of the massages are done in private rooms. My massage first started with a foot soak while sitting on a stool. Then transitioned to the bed mat. Pressure was hard but that's what I like. This place is no frills business, so don't come and expect a fancy spa. It's cheap and the level of quality is unbelievable. And it was super easy to book same day. Don't come here. You might think "oh, I got my shots, this work at home has my neck and back funky" and you only see this spot open. Don't do it. The parking is convenient, they have space in the back and it looks clean, but I should have known this place was off when there was no one at the reception. With new places, I like to keep count on how long I would get worked different sections of my body. It helps me figure out if I would come back. She worked 1 min on my upper sholders 5 min on my lower sholders, 10 on my back, 3 on my left arm, 2 on my shoulders again, 1min on my right upper arm, not even the rest of it, then she moved to my left leg. All the while her nails were scratching me. How many of y'all ever had a masseuse with long nails? Not the kind that works on ppl pressure points professionally. When she started working on my leg, it almost felt like she was working on something but she leaned almost all her weight on it and hurt me. After telling her that it hurt and to lighten it up a bit, she all together stopped messaging me and was just lightly rubbing oil only on legs. In my 15 years of getting messages, I have never experienced something like this in my life. By the time we were leaving they asked to tip her since the cash didn't "pay them" but for the survive. I was able to get in on the same day and it was easy to find. There is parking behind the building, but it's a very narrow driveway. The spa is run by the owner and his wife. I was the only one there with the owner and when I walked in, he asked how he could help me. He knew I was there for my appt, what he was asking is how he can help with the massage. It took a few times for me to understand what he was asking. Once in the room, it was warm and there was nice music playing. I asked for a deep tissue massage and he was definitely the right person to get my knots worked on. He applied the perfect amount of pressure, and used his elbows and wrists for even deeper pressure. It's not for the person who wants to relax as he was not gentle. It was a deep tissue, so make sure that's what you want. That night I was wiped out from the massage, took a shower to clean off the oil and slept like a baby. I waited a few days to see how I felt before writing the review and was impressed. Called two more and they were also booked, we called Chinese medical spa and the gentleman said he definitely had time and was super friendly. It's literally a small driveway next to the Popeyes (as a lifetime Pasadena resident who lives three blocks from here, it was shocking I've never noticed this place) we pull into the back and walk toward the front of the business.... The gentleman greeted us and asked what type of massage we'd like, we answered and went into our rooms. Maybe it's just me, but this place is definitely not for everyone. First off, I was suppose to have an appointment at 10am, but I was running late so I called...no answer. i called twice and still no answer. I got there around 10:15-10:20am and the door was locked, but it said opened. I started to leave but figured I'd try calling one more time, but I really wish I didn't....This was NOT a healing experience for me. Initially I chose this place over all the other locations because people raved about how their pains were gone. I should have read even more reviews, but I didn't know Ming would be cracking my neck and back. I really hate it when people crack my neck. He didn't give me any warning that he was going to do it either. I had right back shoulder injuries from December and I just wanted to get a massage from someone who knew what they were doing. But after the massage, IT HURTS EVEN MORE. It never hurt when I was doing nothing, but now IT DOES. And I'm so upset because it was slowly healing and now I feel like I'm back to square one. He didn't even massage my back right shoulder THAT much when I asked him to. I'm Chinese and thought this would be a really good place for me, but it was too hippie dippie and weird. He kept pushing me to do the higher priced items. At first he recommended the swedish massage, but I wanted to get work done on my feet as well. So I said the combo for $45, then he said told me to do the herbal oil massage for $55 because it would "heal" me. At this point, I was like whatever, but I wish I just left. I did tell him I had ankle issues too but I just wanted an overall feet massage. He said the combo included 50 min back/neck/shoulder + 20 min foot. He worked on my ankles only for literally a total of like 3 minutes. Don't get me wrong, he was very polite. Like when I flipped from my back to front, he looked up. He was respectful and would excuse himself if someone else came to the front desk. I'm not sure why this place has 5 stars or what kind of people come here, but I definitely recommend that you read all the reviews before coming. If you want a simple massage where they just get knots out, don't come here. But I wouldn't recommend this place mostly because I feel more in pain than ever and it just wasn't an overall pleasant experience. UPDATE: It is day 3 and my back is STILL IN SO MUCH PAIN. Before going here, yes I did have a slight back issue but it didn't really hurt. It was weak. BUT now it hurts!!!!!! ------ ANOTHER UPDATE: After 2 weeks, my back is finally feeling a bit better, thanks to going to a licensed chiropractor and a heating pad. It's still in pain, but not as bad. So they contacted me to apologize and see why my experience was so bad, but I wasn't really able to chat on the phone and said I'd call back. Later that evening, they texted me. I did request for a refund since I spent $55 and I did get my money back, which was really nice! They're very friendly and kind to see how I was doing. However, this place is very unprofessional. When I asked for a refund, they asked me to remove my review on Yelp. However, I value honesty and I just could not remove it. I told them I would update it. And then they said how great Ming is and how they value him. But due to this Yelp review, they would have to FIRE him. WHATT?! To me, I was so in shock. They just told me they valued him and then said they'd fire him.....BECAUSE OF 1 YELP BAD YELP REVIEW? It makes me feel very skeptical on why this place had 5 stars prior to my review. Also, who would want to work somewhere who will fire them based off reviews on Yelp?! If it's a consistent thing, then I understand. But it still makes no sense to me. My purpose to write this review is NOT to get any fired or close down any businesses, but it's just to inform people with proper information. It felt like they were trying to GUILT TRIP me for writing a bad (HONEST) review. Plus they should not have disclosed any information about the employee's employment status. Was curious to why this place has many 5-star reviews so thought I check it out. After visiting, I now know why! I came in for a 1 hour foot massage, thinking it was going to be like a lot of the cheap asian foot massage places in the area. The process is pretty much the same as most places where they first massage your neck and shoulders while you sit and stick your feet in the bucket hot water. Then you lie face down for them to work on your back. And finally, you lie face up, where they would work on your feet. What's different about this place that I loved is that the masseur really looked for my pressure points instead of just randomly massaging (which I feel that some places do). It was clear that he knew what he was doing. He knew which part needed more work and knew how to handle it. Overall, was super impressed as this massage was the same price as many other places ($25 without tip). The place is small but is super clean. They have I think maybe 1 or 2 rooms for body massages and 1 bigger room for foot massages. The foot massage room has three black leather massage chair beds, which I thought made the experience seem a little bit more luxurious. There's a parking lot in the back but it is super small. WTF WTF WTF CRAZY ASS PEOPLE HERE I SWEAR TO GOD. i wish i could complain to some form of management for the experience i had. i felt like i was lied to, cheated and also treated like i was stupid because i am pregnant. the experience i had here completely ruined the rest of my night and just thinking about it makes me so mad. i am 6 months pregnant and saw on yelp that they offered foot massages for $25-$35. i called in advance and asked if i can come in and the lady said yes. when i walked in she said it was $50 for an hour. i told her i was pregnant and she said "oh sorry we can't" i said "i only want a foot massage no need to do the rest of my body" and she just really didn't speak a word of english. i really don't understand how businesses operate when they cannot speak nor understand english. not even conversation style, i was already frustrated hearing her. i thought to myself, ok i can just talk to the masseuse myself when she's in my room. what i mostly regret is that she made me pay first... i handed her my credit card and she said "no. cash only. machine no work" so i gave her $60 in cash and asked for ten back. she said "what about tip?" i said, "can i wait until after my massage?" and wow, you just offer yourself ten dollars, ok weirdo. now this lady was already irritating me me, just her face alone made me not trust her. turns out, she was the masseuse. ok great, i have this wack ass weirdo massaging me but i'll just deal with it, maybe she's cool and good at her job... maybe i am just being judgy or hormonal, maybe it's totally me and not her. My boyfriend and I came to this place to relax on a Saturday night. They were so unprofessional. There was two middle-aged women working and their communication skills were horrible. The rooms were freezing and they didn't have any blankets what they used to cover us were towels. Both of them left us for five minutes in the room alone, mid massage and cold. 40 Minutes felt like an eternity and not in a good way. They offer the same foot massage prices as San Gabriel and their massages are of the same quality. Woke up with a painful knot on my right side that rendered me immobile. Thanks to Yelp I was able to find Ming, who was able to see me immediately. We talked about the area of the pain and what may have caused it for a few mins at the lobby and what service would I need. He then led me to a clean serene room so I could change and he could examine where the pain was coming from. He spent the next hour working on my back taking the knots out using a heat lamp and essential oils. There were times where it was painful and the end result was relief from the knot. My back felt so much better and I could move easily. Ming has great bedside manner making me feel very comfortable. At the end I was given a bottle of water with instructions to drink lots of liquids to flush and replenish the liquids lost. I will definitely be back. Please note that this is not like one of those $20 foot massages. This place is more of a medical spa using Chinese methods of healing. read more

I recently injured a nerve in my lower back. I initially wanted to use Groupon for a chiropractor, but I would have to wait a week (called 5 different places). The pain was unbearable, so I went here. Ming, again, was an expert adjuster of my back. At first I thought I sprained my hip, but he pressed various points among my leg and feet, confirming the pinched nerve. During the massage, he worked on my shoulders and used a heat lamp on my lower back (where the pain was). After the massage/adjustment, he said that the pain would subside within a week and showed me two exercises to do. Today is 5 days later and I am pain free. On a funny note, he endearingly talked about Pokémon GO during the first 10 minutes of the massage. He is very excited about the game and reminds me of my brother. Found this place on yelp because it is close to my house. They charge a bit more than the ones i go to in the san gabriel area but its worth every penny. I got a private room for my foot massage instead of having many chairs in a big room and people sitting very close to you. As soon as Ming started on my neck, i knew he is very knowledgeable and that he knows exactly what he was doing. Service was good and it is clean. I feel totally relaxed after the massage.
