I've been looking for a go-to massage spot in the SGV / Pasadena area and decided to give this place a shot in the last-minute. In retrospect, there were red flags as soon I walked in. I shouldn't have ignored them ‍ 1. They require payment before the service. I understand that some spas actually have this as SOP so that's fine. But when the lady asked for a tip as well, I had to say no. I prefer tipping based on service rendered. 2. They have a promotion for $59 for 70 mins. See attached photo. The front desk lady charged $60 without asking first. 3. I called and got the confirmation that they are able to accommodate me at 1PM. I arrived at 12:55PM. The masseuse didn't enter the room until almost 1:30PM. And even then, still had to walk in and out of the room for some reason. 4. The promo included hot stone and back scrub. She did the massage first, then scrub, then hot stone without wiping off the scrub. I've had this procedure a lot of times before, and this sequence is odd. 5. At one point, the warm towel she used to wipe the body scrub off was very hot. She also didn't wipe everything off completely. Then she asked me to lie on my back for the rest of the massage. 6. I asked for hard pressure on my back from the start of the massage. She literally spent approximately 10 mins on my left waist. I had to tell her what to do. I came in last night to try out their limited time deep tissue / hot oil / hot stone / exfoliation package and it was AMAZING! Mind you, I was iffy at first because there were no reviews yet for this new location and I'm very particular about my massages. I was driving out to Silver Lake on a bi weekly basis and I'm so happy with Lake Massage & Wax. I requested for a masseuse who knows how to target problem areas, someone with experience as I carry a toddler around on a daily basis and my occupation requires moderate physical labor. Amy came to the rescue and delivered one of the best massage experiences of my life! This is the best place to get a massage! Price couldn't be better, and the massage therapists are attentive and skilled. I got the one hour body massage for $40, my tech did my neck and she pressed &rubbed on the correct spots. So relaxing and music make me sleepy. I first found this place on Groupon so we thought we would give it a try. We tried calling them to book a reservation for a 70min massage plus hot stone and body scrub. They were hard to understand on the phone but we were able to book an appt. When we arrived the ladies there did not have us down for an appt. and said no one was available for us. It was super disappointing since we were excited for our massage. They reschedule us so we went back reluctantly. The ladies were sort of ready for us. They still didn't know exactly what we booked so we explained it again. They took us back to a Couples Massage room, which we were happy about. However, they didn't ask what we wanted pressure wise or where we needed it the most. They left the lights bright and the door open to hear if anyone else comes in which ruined the ambiance a bit for us. Then they went to massage us which was ok but pretty light and seemed like they were just trying to pass the time with random ideas. They stopped at 60 minutes and then ALSO forgot the body scrub. Honestly, we were just ready to leave anyway so it was fine. The reason why we gave at least 3 stars is because they were nice and seemed like they did their best. I was dressed and to my car at 5:56 I left a 20% tip, $10, for a massage I didn't really like. They would only take cash. And made me prepay. They did not want to accept the website special as prices has changed. They argued for a larger tip. I said I didn't like it. I wouldn't have left a bad review because massages are personal. The place is clean. The promotion no longer applies. They require payment before the service. When we arrived, the workers didn't know what to do. The massage therapist I got didn't even work there! She said she's helping out because the store was short staffed. I found out later on my friends didn't even get a body scrub done. Came for a much needed massage after a long and stressful week. I've been to several other massage places and was in the area so I popped in. Things to note - Their customer service was outstanding, staff was so friendly, nice and made me feel really comfortable. Place was clean and super zen which was exactly what I needed. The lady that did my massage was beyond thorough and was so good! The hot stones were a added bonus!! Overall I felt happy and relaxed after the massage. Better than quite a few of the massage places I've been to as well. The owners were also there and they were the best - really cared that you had a great experience! WORST MASSAGE. I bought groupon for a 70 minute massage... the lady was not even massaging deep enough, she wasnt doing proper massages --- she was just squeezing my arms and legs. I'm not picky, it wasnt even a decent massage, she was just rubbing my skin. When I left my massage was $60 -- i gave $10 tip and she said "oh, minimum is $20" she's lucky I have her anything... States there's Thai massage when there wasn't 3. Booked an hour massage it wasn't a full hour. So I made another attempt by stopping by and requesting if I could make an appointment. The lady at the front desk gave a disgusted look as if she had a problem with black people, she went to the back spoke to someone else and said that they were booked for the day. I decided to go with their promotion on a 70min deep tissue massage for $59 . Great massage by Amy! Her hands were strong and firm and made my body feel much better by the end of it -- feeling totally relaxed and elevated. Hot stones and body scrubs were included at no additional charge! Better communication, better promotions, better prices , hot stones , scrub and better oils

I purchased a Groupon for this place and called for appt was told to come at 12. I showed up at 1145am and told me it would be 15 min. While waiting, someone walked in and they took them back right away, without appt. I waited for 30 min before getting up to see how much longer. Front desk lady was sitting down eating. When I asked if she knew how much longer she showed me a picture of my Groupon and told me something about my mom? Idk she walked me back to the room to get ready and immediately after putting my head into the Massage table rest it smelled like bad breath and really strong mens cologne. I mentioned this to the lady when she came in and all she did was get me a towel to go over it.. during the massage she had the door open while I'm in underwear and a sheet covering my bottom half. She kept walking out of the room and the other massage therapist yelling into the room and my massage therapist yelling back and forth so out of my 70min massage it was quiet only about 20 min if that. I did this day before embryo transfer and needless to say I was NOT relaxed. It was probably more stressful experiencing this prior to it. Horrible read more
