There's slight incline if you plan to do some walking but there is some paved paths where I did see folks walking around. There are poop along the path and also on the grass. This is wonderful park to have in the neighborhood. Wished I lived a bit closer and wished we came prepared with a picnic blanket. Tips: -Small parking lot. -Restroom available. -Basketball courts. -Small playground with 2 swings.

There are city parking times where you're not to park there, unless collecting parking tickets is your thing.

At approximately 11:00 PM, I was riding my bicycle--something I've regularly done since moving into…read morethe neighborhood--as part of a personal fitness challenge with my wife. The area includes a 24-hour gym, and I've always felt comfortable riding there. While riding, I noticed a suspicious white car parked with its lights on, facing the exit. As I passed, I saw no one inside and thought nothing more of it. A few minutes later, an old, beat-up white vehicle came speeding toward me through the parking lot with its headlights off, forcing me to quickly swerve to avoid potential harm. The vehicle came to a stop, and I saw "Security Patrol" marked on its side. Soon after, the original parked white car pulled up, and a woman identifying herself as Alexis began confronting me aggressively. She claimed I wasn't allowed to park in the lot, which was puzzling since I was clearly on a bicycle. When I clarified that I had no vehicle there, she pivoted and said I couldn't ride a bike there either. I asked where this was posted--there were no signs indicating any such restriction. Her tone was hostile and dismissive from the beginning, and the male security guard from the first car escalated the situation by stating, "I'm allowed to run you out of here." I have this and the rest of the encounter fully documented on video. The situation quickly devolved into yelling, unprofessional behavior, and personal insults from both individuals. After police were called (by the security personnel), the responding officers were professional and respectful. They confirmed that there are no posted rules or signage prohibiting bicycle riding or parking in the lot. They even advised me to submit a formal complaint, which I'm now doing. I have already emailed Danielle Dally, Enrique, and Karla Rodriguez regarding this matter. These two individuals demonstrated a complete lack of training, professionalism, and respect for residents. Their conduct was not only unacceptable but potentially dangerous. I am requesting the following:     1.    That the two individuals involved are removed from patrol in this area immediately.     2.    A copy of the contract or policy that governs security enforcement at this property.     3.    Clarification on any official property rules regarding bicycles or resident access after hours.     4.    A response in writing acknowledging this incident and outlining steps being taken. I look forward to a prompt and serious response. I should not have to worry about safety or disrespect when enjoying my neighborhood.

A big plus especially for those with kids like 7+ is that they have a "zip line" where you sit on a small circle seat and hang on as it goes from one side to the other and back. It is adjacent to another park, so there is plenty of parking nearby. If you've got kids, this park is definitely worth a visit! There are so many varieties of California native plants and they do have a nursery that is usually open a few days a week but is closed for Summer and reopening in October, 2026. What I love about this property is the sprawling amount of walkway to take a nice walk. You'll find enough shade along the way but many parts are not shaded. The pathways are decomposed granite, concrete and or asphalt so it's like hiking in nature but without the dirt road or elevation gain. I also really love that it's not crowded here. It's also smack dab in the middle of nature so you will occasionally see wild animal poop on a path, cracks that have not been repaired, but none of that really bothers me. There are plenty of benches along the path and a restroom on one side of the property so plan accordingly. They used to have a nice gift shop here and novelties like hats, t shirts, children's toys, books are now displayed in a small outdoor kiosk near to where you check in. California Botanic Garden is a member of the American Horticultural Network of Gardens (AHS). So if you have an annual membership at one of the participating Gardens associated with AHS Gardens you automatically have access to visit all of the gardens in network, unlimited visits for no additional charge. It is nice being a member at one garden and having access to visit hundreds of gardens. My son became confused at one point and needed some help understanding what he was supposed to do. Instead of being patient and helping him, Jasmine seemed irritated that she had to assist him. Her attitude came across as rude and unwelcoming throughout our visit. There was also an incident where my son got into an accident on the track. My husband immediately wanted to go check on him because, as his parent, he was concerned about whether our son was okay. Jasmine told my husband that if he got up to help our son, he would lose his spot in the race. My husband told her, "That's my son. I'm going to help him." Instead of responding with understanding or simply allowing him to check on his child, she continued to focus on him losing his spot. My son is autistic, and after I explained to Jasmine that he has a disability, her attitude toward us noticeably changed and she became nicer. While I appreciate that she adjusted her behavior, it was upsetting that I had to disclose my son's disability before we were treated with basic kindness and patience. I shouldn't have to tell someone to be nice, especially when they are interacting with children. I understand that everyone can have a bad day, but customers shouldn't have to feel uncomfortable because of an employee's attitude. When a child is confused or gets into an accident, the priority should be making sure they are okay and helping them feel comfortable. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and addresses how guests, especially children with disabilities and their families, are treated.

Prado...what happened?…read more We used to love you so! We've camped here many times over the past few years, and it has been green and beautiful. However, this last trip was less than awesome, and we're so disappointed. First of all, unless you really like camping in the dirt, definitely avoid campsite 50. It's big and spacious, but your RV will be full of ants before you go to sleep, as the nearby trees are FULL of ant trails. If you don't already, make sure you use the DE or Borax powder on any potential entry point! The site itself is shady all day, but again, it comes at a cost. There are also tons of flies, gnats, and mosquitoes (they don't bother me, but they love my boyfriend!). A bug zapper helps, but the moment the sun goes down, it is ON! Those little effers are out in force! As for the dirt...well, we didn't realize that there are sites with concrete pads, and those without. This was our first time stepping out onto dirt from the RV instead of concrete, and it was awful. If we had been prepared, we might have been ok. Other sites have a pad and are surrounded by grass, but this one was just dirt. Upon scouting out the park in the evenings, we noticed that most of the camp area is full of totally brown/dead grass and dirt. So much so, that we asked the ranger the next day and she explained that they can't keep up with the maintenance of their irrigation systems because "people keep driving over the lines in the dark...and park where they're not supposed to"! She seemed upset about it, too, and explained that they can't enforce anything with citations, or warnings at all. She said maybe next year they'll catch up on it. Shrug. Anyway, we likely won't be back unless we can book a site that we already know has a concrete pad. Also, they upgraded the campground restrooms and showers, which were clean enough. However, it would have been so lovely if they could have included soap and soap dispensers in the restrooms! The only place I found a soap dispenser was in the RR near the marina...but...it was empty. Sigh. A disappointing trip all the way around, because the lake was closed due to an algae bloom the 3rd day we were there, so no fishing or peddle boats, either! The splash pad was a redeeming quality, because we had a blast with my granddaughter! Otherwise, this was a dud. Prado needs to get it together!
