There's slight incline if you plan to do some walking but there is some paved paths where I did see folks walking around. There are poop along the path and also on the grass. This is wonderful park to have in the neighborhood. Wished I lived a bit closer and wished we came prepared with a picnic blanket. Very relaxing and enjoyable. There is limited parking in the parking lot, but you can also park on the curb. Just check out the street parking times. There are city parking times where you're not to park there, unless collecting parking tickets is your thing.

There's a playground, splash pad area with outdoor shower, giant tree house with slide, waterslide, and ziplining. You need to make reservations for the weekends but parking is free. When I came, the waterslide and splash pad area were closed for maintenance. But it was still pretty crowded for a Tuesday! Will definitely come back to check out the rest of the amenities.

There are so many varieties of California native plants and they do have a nursery that is usually open a few days a week but is closed for Summer and reopening in October, 2026. What I love about this property is the sprawling amount of walkway to take a nice walk. You'll find enough shade along the way but many parts are not shaded. The pathways are decomposed granite, concrete and or asphalt so it's like hiking in nature but without the dirt road or elevation gain. I also really love that it's not crowded here. It's also smack dab in the middle of nature so you will occasionally see wild animal poop on a path, cracks that have not been repaired, but none of that really bothers me. There are plenty of benches along the path and a restroom on one side of the property so plan accordingly. They used to have a nice gift shop here and novelties like hats, t shirts, children's toys, books are now displayed in a small outdoor kiosk near to where you check in. California Botanic Garden is a member of the American Horticultural Network of Gardens (AHS). So if you have an annual membership at one of the participating Gardens associated with AHS Gardens you automatically have access to visit all of the gardens in network, unlimited visits for no additional charge. It is nice being a member at one garden and having access to visit hundreds of gardens. Install a notification system, minus 1 star. Waiting an hour and a half to ride is fine. Not being able to leave is the problem. Prado...what happened?…read more We used to love you so! We've camped here many times over the past few years, and it has been green and beautiful. However, this last trip was less than awesome, and we're so disappointed. First of all, unless you really like camping in the dirt, definitely avoid campsite 50. It's big and spacious, but your RV will be full of ants before you go to sleep, as the nearby trees are FULL of ant trails. If you don't already, make sure you use the DE or Borax powder on any potential entry point! The site itself is shady all day, but again, it comes at a cost. There are also tons of flies, gnats, and mosquitoes (they don't bother me, but they love my boyfriend!). A bug zapper helps, but the moment the sun goes down, it is ON! Those little effers are out in force! As for the dirt...well, we didn't realize that there are sites with concrete pads, and those without. This was our first time stepping out onto dirt from the RV instead of concrete, and it was awful. If we had been prepared, we might have been ok. Other sites have a pad and are surrounded by grass, but this one was just dirt. Upon scouting out the park in the evenings, we noticed that most of the camp area is full of totally brown/dead grass and dirt. So much so, that we asked the ranger the next day and she explained that they can't keep up with the maintenance of their irrigation systems because "people keep driving over the lines in the dark...and park where they're not supposed to"! She seemed upset about it, too, and explained that they can't enforce anything with citations, or warnings at all. She said maybe next year they'll catch up on it. Shrug. Anyway, we likely won't be back unless we can book a site that we already know has a concrete pad. Also, they upgraded the campground restrooms and showers, which were clean enough. However, it would have been so lovely if they could have included soap and soap dispensers in the restrooms! The only place I found a soap dispenser was in the RR near the marina...but...it was empty. Sigh. A disappointing trip all the way around, because the lake was closed due to an algae bloom the 3rd day we were there, so no fishing or peddle boats, either! The splash pad was a redeeming quality, because we had a blast with my granddaughter! Otherwise, this was a dud. Prado needs to get it together!
