Amazing food + beverage

This place is so amazing. I am from CA and a Ruben lover. I was so curious if this place was gonna prove the reviews true. ...little to say it did. I am going to be dreaming about this place. Food + drinks = fire. The bartender was amazing. She was the reason I am writing this. The place was set up in a Halloween theme (my fav). Just an amazing vibe and music through. I hope to come back and visit Virginia just for this establishment.

The Club Sandwich
Leland L.

Good sandwiches but a little overpriced. I was impressed by the amount of meat and I liked their pickles! The sandwich comes with a dill spear and 2 bread and butter slices and also came with a bag of chips. If the sandwiches were cheaper I would come here often, however, it wasn't astounding enough for $15. I did really like that the club has prosciutto instead of bacon! Inside: Definitely grungy and a local spot. Cool place to pop in for a drink but a little slow when you order food (the waitress explained that they can only fit a few subs in their tiny oven at the same time). Better place for a small group rather than a lot of people.

I randomly came across this spot while driving through Richmond to Norfolk and every time I'm in Richmond I have to go. We went early on a Sunday most times and the service was quick, atmosphere was great and sandwich's were top notch. Highly recommend.

Made in Turkey Sub

I've driven by this place thousands of times and I'm beating myself up for not trying it sooner. Staff is super friendly and cool. I ordered a "made in turkey" and it was awesome. I loved the flavor of the meat and the bread was ridiculously good. I'll definitely be back more often for my lunch breaks and highly recommend this place for anybody looking for amazing sandwiches packed with flavor.

Lunch

Rainy day in Richmond calls for an easy lunch situation so we stumbled upon this sandwich shop after strolling in Carytown! We walked in and the waitress told us to sit wherever we wanted and we picked a booth in the back. The place has a nice bar and a chill vibe. The menu has all sandwiches and subs which was great. We went with two clubs which was the best choice. The sandwiches came out fast and they were huge! Highly recommend stopping in.

I have never heard of this place but it was somehow on my yelp list to try. This place is located in the Museum District of Richmond. The location can make parking a challenge as it is all street parking. So availability can vary. We went for a late lunch on a Saturday and parking was not an issue. This place is kind of a dive in looks. It is down a few steps from the sidewalk to gain entry and is not very large. There are some tables and booths. It was fairly empty when we got there... maybe 4-6 other people. They have some craft beer available and a decent selection of sandwiches. My wife got the heated club sub and I got a cold Dagwood. The heated one was better but both were good. These are also large sandwiches!! Definitely enough for lunch! There was also some cool old Football posters of people and items from the area. Pretty cool place to give a try

Reuben Sandwich
Menghai T.

I got the Reuben sandwich and it was loaded with meat. I like the dill pickle and the butter pickles that they included with the sandwich and chips were just a generic utz bag nothing fancy. For ~$16 it was a more on the expensive side. Service was pretty bad. It took 10 minutes for someone to get our order and another 10 minutes for drinks. The food took another 20 to 30 minutes to come out. We didn't get any napkins and had to take it from another table. The lack of service really hinders the overall experience, overall its a 4.4/10. If you just care about the food it's pretty decent. I probably would not come back.

If like a truly local eat and drink spot with sky high stuffed subs this is the spot! You enter almost underground - you are in the basement of a historical home. I enjoyed reading the history of the restaurant and local news over the years on the walls. There is a small bar that has local brews on draft. There is booth seating along the walls. This is not a place to bring a large crowd. I would recommend parties of four of smaller. The staff is very friendly. I ordered the hot cut sub. I LOVE when a sub has the meat hot. They do not skimp on the portion of meat - much appreciated! Be patience when waiting for food especially if there are other tables seated. There is only one oven (over 100 years old) and a very small kitchen. It is totally worth the wait. AND they have trivia games you can pick up and play while sitting at your table I did not give five stars because I would not come out of your way if you are not local to Richmond. This is a five star spot for local Richmond residents especially those living in The Fan! I love that I can walk to this bar and sub spot!

Would give them a 5 because the food is amazing, but the guy making my sandwich was eating/not wearing gloves when preparing my food

Great sandwiches. $10 might be a lot for a normal sandwich, but these aren't normal sandwiches they are amazing.

Like others have said, the sandwiches take a while (45 mins for us) to come out, but are worth the wait. So good!

Kids chicken strips were a chicken patty that was overcooked and cut up. Also came out lukewarm at best. The Rueben was soggy and had about three slices of meat on it. Very little sauce on the sandwich no and was charged for extra when I asked for more. Added the Parmesan truffle fries which were powered Parmesan with some truffle oil sprinkled on top. Again all lukewarm. The Timberwolf burger had maybe two jalapeño's on it and the onions were burnt. The regular burgers and kids are the same size. Housemade pickles were soggy and the cucumber skins were tough. The quality of food from when we had eaten here a couple years ago was subpar in comparison. If you are going to charge for upscale items then they need to be upscale in the quality of what you are serving. Will not be back.

He strongly pushes online ordering (there's even a sign saying it's preferred), yet the third-party ordering website frequently freezes or fails to accept orders. In the past, I've been yelled at for trying to order in person and told it would take 45 minutes. This time, I ordered online as instructed and arrived at the pickup time, only to be ignored for about 10 minutes despite standing right in front of him. When he finally acknowledged me, he couldn't find part of the order, then angrily threw the food on the counter and demanded payment--even though I had already paid online. He refused to accept an email receipt and said he doesn't give receipts at all. So I paid twice. On top of that, the online prices were nearly double the in-store prices, with no clear explanation when I inquired. Great food does not excuse terrible customer service. The experience is stressful, unpleasant, and unprofessional.

Great Philly Cheese Steak sandwiches! Different than we have had anywhere... but our hosts said …read more. this is what you're getting... So there is that! First...bread soft but "sturdy" enough to handle the other half being wrapped up and eaten the next day! It's a lot of food! Wedge salad and Side salad option-MUCH better than expected for a "hole in the wall" kinda place but big serving with fresh ingredients (radishes, sliced and chunks, with pea pods and a lemony vinaigrette was super tasty. The servers were also tending the bar which was getting decent traffic even at lunchtime. My dining partner says there is a pool table in a back room, and that could be fun to fold into a longer visit. The piped in music was light jazz. The menu is oriented around philly cheesesteaks and variations. I ordered the chicken philly, which was large enough to make two lunches (I brought half home.) The flavor was decent, with seasoned or marinated chicken chunks and veggies & cheese on a sturdy roll. It came with a decent serving of chips. We were served a juice glass of room temp water on arrival and no drink order was taken. Negatives were related to pacing. It took a lot of time for the food to come out. We were pushed to eat even half of our sandwiches within the hour my dining partner had for lunch. The server did not check back after dropping the plates, which could have been an issue if we needed more water. And getting the check was a challenge that took way too long considering how small the place is. This is a decent place to grab a sandwich or a drink if you have the time or live in the neighborhood.
