What a disappointment! Got 2 boxed lunches. The menu differentiates between deli turkey or chicken and other deli meats and roasted turkey and chicken. When you hear roasted turkey or chicken, and they've gone to the trouble of specifying deli versions of the same meat on the menu, what are you expecting? Lovely slices of freshly roasted meat that look like they came from Grandma's table? Spoiler alert: You're getting deli meat. I would never have ordered this if I had known. Neither would my dining partner. My creamy pesto sandwich tasted of cucumber and Borsin cheese. And looking at it closer? I'm pretty sure they just use garlic flavored Borsin cheese spread. There was nothing that tasted or looked like a basil-y pesto on the sandwich. The blondie had no flavor unless you ate a chocolate chip. No taste of vanilla or brown sugar. Just straight sweet and occasionally some chocolate. The potato salad was passable, though a lot of the potatoes were crunchy. That might just be a preference thing on my part. I don't like the potatoes to be crunchy in my potato salad Honestly, the whole thing came off as lazy and ordinary. The only good things I'll say is that they use very fresh ingredients. It's obvious they care about freshness. We were very pleased by how good the lettuce and apples were on our different sandwiches. The lemon square was decent as well. Good shortbread crust. But honestly? I don't know who they think they are, charging nearly $30 for two boxed lunches for something that wasn't worth $10 together. If you need boxed lunches there are better options out there at lower prices. Miss this place. read more

This is a neighborhood shop on Patterson Avenue. Probably the great majority of customers are long time repeat customers, since pretty much everyone around there gets lunch and takeout from Cuisine a la Carte and everyone goes back. A fairly broad menu, considering how small they are and fix everything that day. They do a lot of boxed lunches for events. I always get a salad, because I usually go there once a week and after a week, I'm yearning for my next salad. If I were home more, I'd probably go three times a week and get more experimental. Everything is delicious and freshly prepared. My one gripe is that the individual serving frozen entrees are smallish. An individual serving frozen entree would only work for dinner with multiple side dishes. read more

It hurts to put 2 stars as my patronage goes many years back as I've always looked at the care and freshness put into everything they serve! And then here's my sad salad (I order this from time to time as it's fresh and filling seven without meat and this go round I had the box which included a side of choice so I got their yummy pasta salad and cake of choice which was their amazing carrot cake)...I literally had to cut down the veggies (I could have gone to the store if I have to do this part myself). Fresh ingredients, great portions and salad dressings (the balsamic vinaigrette is amazing) but poorly thrown together. But the carrot cake (which is not pictured but if you know you know) was amazing as always!! That cake makes me and my sad salad happy! read more

Noticed this Spot with a woman enjoying a sandwich outside. Had wanted to go across the street, but it was closed on a Monday. I went in and got a boxed lunch with a yummy full ham and swiss sandwich (fresh/tasty bread, lettuce, tomato, meat and cheese, thick sandwich) accompanied by a great potato salad and excellent lemon bar. For 13 bucks. Not a bad deal. I will be back! Since y'all are open at 8 AM I'm wondering why there are no hashbrowns and breakfast sandwiches on the menu??? This place is on my way to work and I could stop by normally at both breakfast and lunch hours. Help a lady out! read more

I've ordered catering from Cuisine A La Carte twice for office meetings, and both times my colleagues and I have been very impressed. We've ordered the sandwich trays, large servings of the side salads, and the dessert trays, and everything has been great and economically priced. The food is fresh, flavorful, and it's delivered on time with everything you need to host a lunch meeting. The sandwich trays come with a variety of cold wraps and sandwiches which are cut into halves and are definitely a step above your average lunch meat. Portion sizes are very generous. Two sandwich halves are considered one serving, and we always have leftovers even if we order 10 servings for 12 people. The chicken, bacon, and avocado wrap, the terragon chicken salad sandwich, and the classic club are my favorites. When ordering salad for a group you have the option of splitting the order in half, i.e. half potato salad and half pasta salad for 10 people, or just doing a single larger portions, i.e. green tossed salad for 10. Both the pasta and potato salads have been huge hits with the office, with colleagues asking to take home the leftovers. The green salad is simple and fresh, mixed greens with onion, carrots, tomatoes, and a variety of dressings on the side from balsamic to poppy seed vinaigrette. The pièce de résistance is the dessert tray. It includes a sampling of everything portioned into individual servings: gooey lemon bars, moist carrot cake, pound cake with classic white icing, blondie bars with chocolate chips, brownies with chopped nuts, and large cookies. This is my favorite hidden lunch gem! A small little take out spot off Patterson Avenue. Huge chalkboard with as many sandwiches as you can dream (I'm loyal the tarragon chicken salad myself!). Fresh baked treats (think cookies & brownies), fresh soups and yummy boxed lunches for a meeting. They also sell frozen meals which is so convenient for the lazy cook like myself! The only thing if change is to extend the weeknight hours so I could stop in on the way home from work for some food to go! Highly recommend! read more

My husband and I stopped in here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. It's a cute place with the menu artfully displayed on the wall. I found the menu to be extensive and slightly overwhelming but alas we chose correctly. We ordered the box lunches to go. I ordered the Michelle's Mediterranean wrap with coleslaw and chocolate chip cookies. The sandwich was excellent as was the coleslaw. I wish the side dish was slightly larger, as it felt like only three bites worth. My husband had the chicken salad on rye bread and the pasta salad side, which he also found to be delicious. I love this place! Everything is very fresh--from the bread to the lettuce to the meats! The portions on the sandwiches are good, too. I agree with another reviewer that the side items are a bit skimpy in the box lunches, but it could be that they are so delicious that it makes us want for more (not need more). They add a dessert and a quarter orange to the box lunches as well. At $9 or $10, it's a pretty good place to grab take-out! read more

These people are fantastic. I love coming here. The food is always fresh and delicious, the service is fast, and staff is always so friendly and great to talk with. At the peak of covid in Richmond, they really went above and beyond and gave meals to first responders. This is a truly great business and hope to be able to support them for many years. Tip: ALL of the sandwiches/wraps are delicious, but my go-to is a turkey provolone in a su dried tomato wrap + potato salad :) read more

Very tasty and fresh tarragon chicken salad and BLT sandwiches (you get to choose your own bread). The "box" meal came w a side, dessert and orange slice. The potato salad had a great flavor. Nice to have an orange slice to top off the meal. Parking available right out front. Very small inside eating area - everyone we saw took it to go. Service was fast and very friendly/helpful.
