I was pleasantly surprised after reading the reviews and coming in with lower expectations. To be clear, the 4 stars is based on the type of restaurant. It is fast casual - you order at the kiosk and grab a place to eat, listening for your number and/or text to alert you the food is ready. We arrived about 6pm on a Saturday night. It was busy and I grabbed one of the last two tables. It got very busy shortly after we placed our orders. The dining area is pretty big with plenty of bar seating around the windows. While we all ordered one after the other, our food didn't come out that way. Most of the food came out in about 25-30 minutes. The chicken was cooked perfectly. Juicy! Two people got tenders and three of us got sandwiches. The OG sandwich was very good, just messy! I ended up using a fork and knife bc it got too messy. The Mac and cheese was made with pimento cheese and was very good. My friend who got the fried green tomatoes said they were delicious and filling. Lots of goodies on top. Two friends enjoyed the collards. The only person who was underwhelmed was the person who got the Asian sandwich. Parking in downtown is usually a pain. We had to circle the block a few times to get a spot on Thursday night around 19:45. We walked in to find the staff bustling, cooking, and prepping orders, and the smell of some delicious fried chicken in the air. I saw the kiosks and was not too thrilled with the Wawa experience, but we gave it a shot anyway, since fried chicken is one of our favorites. The process was simple and allowed us to add or remove anything we could want, so that was nice. While walking to find a seat, we saw a person panhandling in the dining area, but the staff promptly removed him from the premises. I ordered us the Pimento Cheese Balls for an appetizer, and I chose the Fried Chicken and French Toast as my entree because I always try the "chicken and waffles" at every establishment that offers it. My partner ordered the OG Chicken Sandwich without tomato, and it came with crinkle-cut fries. It was about $40. The chef proclaimed our order was ready in quick succession, maybe three orders behind the guests before us. We waited about ten minutes, maybe fifteen at most. We picked up the orders from the counter, and there was a mix-up on the syrup, but the chef promptly rectified the situation. He was a no-nonsense kind of guy; straight to the point. He seemed firm, yet kind. It was clear the day had been a busy one; he even told us as much, which was great to hear (busy = fantastic food). The French toast squares looked like rye or pumpernickel, and they emitted a sweet aroma, a delightful hit of cinnamon and brown sugar. I drizzled the caramel syrup on my chicken and toast, sliced a piece, and paired a bite of chicken with the toast. I closed my eyes to savor the flavors: the toast was crunchy and almost gooey (yet, not overly so), the chicken was crunchy, the sweet cinnamon-y flavors from the toast, the caramel from the syrup, and the tender, moist chicken were a match made in culinary art. I cannot sufficiently describe the French toast in a way that would do it justice; it was crunchy and semi-gooey, and all scrumptious. I can only say it was the single best French toast that I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. Next, I tried the fried pimento cheese balls. Oh my. If you like mozzarella sticks, try these. I adored them: elevated fried cheese, for real. My partner enjoyed her sandwich as well; she ate everything except some of her fries. I saved half of my chicken and toast for today because I am like a treasure golem when it comes to delicious leftovers. I am going to air-fry the chicken and skillet-heat the toast back to its original goodness. I told the cooks that that was the best French toast that I have ever had, and I mean it. Do yourself a favor and try it if you're into French toast. This one is the GOAT. Had a very high recommendations from a friend, but after this his status as a friend is in question. Walked in and it immediately smelled the damp. There's no wait staff and all ordering is done through kiosks. I put my order in and patiently waited. And waited. 47 minutes later, I finally got my food. I didn't think a chicken sandwich and some fries was too difficult an order, but what the heck do I know. The fries were crispy and well seasoned and that's what faint praise I can give my meal. The Nashville hot sandwich was less spicy than salsa made by someone from a suburb in Minnesota and was drier than it should be. My pimento balls fared no better, they were bland and still cold in the middle, with the only flavor being a thin honey sauce that offered little in the way of a coherent flavor. The only reason I'm not giving this place a 1 star review is because I tried my dining companion's Mac n' cheese and really enjoyed it. Definitely not worth the time or money. We got the fried green tomatoes, smashville hot fries, and chicken tenders w/ Mac N Cheese and collards. Everything was very TASTY! Maybe the weakest dish was the friend green tomatoes. But even that was still pretty decent. Fries were fried to perfection, still crunchy even with sauce on top. The nashville hot spice, spicy ranch and diced pickles went well with the fries. I kept eating it and really had to force myself to stop. The main dish was chicken tender with Mac N Cheese and collards. Having collard green with this meal was perfect. It was also tasty and cooked well. I like collard green and we don't really get this a lot in CA. Chicken was great. Juicy, great taste, crispy and pipping hot. I would give zero stars if possible since we never even got to taste the food. We stopped here on July 15th on a road trip from NC to PA after seeing great reviews on Yelp and Google. We ordered at 7PM. Two chicken sandwiches, fries, two fountain drinks. We paid and sat down. After 30 minutes without even receiving our fountain drinks, we started to wonder what was going on. When I went to the restroom which is right next to the kitchen, no one in the kitchen was cooking anything -- not one person was at a fryer or stove. One of the employees was just sitting in the kitchen with multiple orders waiting to be fulfilled. We waited another 30 minutes. At the hour mark without receiving any fountain drinks (they were not self-serve, they were behind the counter) or food, and no word or any update from the staff, they started closing up the dining room around people still waiting for food. At this point, many customers started asking for refunds, as none of us had received anything. The manager came out and refunded us, but the refund never processed from our system and is still showing as a debited transaction so now I'm also having to dispute the charge with my bank. I had high hopes and am willing to wait for good food. But this was a crazy bad experience. Plus the staff acted annoyed when we asked for a refund after waiting for an hour and not even receiving a drink. We ended up getting our fried chicken sandwiches from Chick-fil-A that night instead. Not too spicy, not bland, but just right! My crinkle cut fries were seasoned too! Crinkle Cut is my favorite cut of french fries, so I was definitely happy. I selected the mumbo sauce, which was a seasoned hot sauce. I think I'd prefer a different sauce next time. We ordered online before arriving via the website. This worked out perfectly! Hit up Buttermilk and Honey for a late lunch on a Friday afternoon. The spot has a cool, refurbished vibe to it but the overall experience left a bit to be desired. You order at a kiosk and then a number is assigned to you for your order. It's cashless, which is fine with me, but there was zero assistance near the kiosk and if you were struggling with placing an order, it seemed like you could be standing looking at the kiosk for a while. While the place has some cool bones, behind the counter looked like a mess with random stuff just sort of strewn about. There was a self-service station with some mustard and mayo packets and napkins but not a ketchup packet to be found. I mean, you serve chicken and fries and you can't ensure the ketchup is kept filled up? The staff was chatty with each other from the time we walked in to the time we left and with music playing the chatter was above the music and at times was a little more than you'd hope to be listening to at a restaurant. What really drove down the stars here was just how long the food took to come out. The place was far from crowded at the time we were there but for two chicken sandwiches and an order of chicken tenders and fries it took close to 25 minutes for the food to come out. Another guest was less than gracious with how annoyed he was at the amount of time it took for the food to come out and if we were up against a time crunch we probably would have found somewhere else to go. The staff talking and having a good old time against the amount of time it took for the food left you rightfully thinking they didn't care much about the customer experience really being quite poor. What's a shame from an experience perspective because when the food actually made its way to the table it was quite good. The chicken sandwich with pickles, honey and ranch was really nice and the fries had a good seasoning on them; not too spicy but jazzing up the crinkle fries a bit. The tenders earned a nice review, as well, and the three tenders were not your run of the mill chicken tender size. If the restaurant can figure out the cleanliness, upkeep and customer service component it has the opportunity to be a pretty good spot. truthfully, there is a lot of good and bad about this place. Let's start with the good: The ambience and the seating area is awesome. Very multicultural lots of people there having a good time. The staff are also what I would say authentic. They are working hard, but they have good personality. Now the bad: We placed our order at 1:02 PM. We got our food at 1:55 PM. Now I don't know if there is a lot of food out there that is worth waiting 53 minutes for. Especially chicken sandwiches. That is a really long time. So the question is was the food worth it? We ordered a Asian flavored chicken sandwich and a southern hospitality. The Asian sandwich was phenomenal. To the point where I don't think you can get the sandwich anywhere else. It was exceptional. The southern hospitality was fairly average. You could go to raising Cane's and get something similar. The fries and the mac & cheese were delicious. We got a really good ginger ale as well. Overall, I am on the fence of whether the 53 minutes of weight was worth that Asian sandwich. The staff was very discombobulated as it relates to their organization and getting things done on time. They apologize to essentially everyone. There were two women, maybe in their 80s, who took a long time to figure out how to use them. But there was a QR code on a couple of the napkin dispensers and I wound up ordering off my cell phone. I ordered the Smokey chick sandwich with fried chicken, bbq sauce, cheddar/jack cheese, slab bacon, smoky honey mustard, pickled onions. I believe the bun was a brioche. It's a very messy sandwich, but loaded with flavor. Tangy, crunchy, salty, and certainly saucy. Good sandwich! For my side dish, I got the collard greens. I guess I wasn't feeling fries that day. For the mac and cheese... this was a total disgrace for $6. I understand the cost of goods is up, but this was a small container that was filled barely half full. The chicken is so good and portions are larger than you think at first glance. This is the type of food that puts you to sleep. My favorite is the wrap. The chicken is quite heavy so the lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles are a nice balance. The chicken tenders were more like chicken breast from the size. They have lots of sauces to choose from and add at an additional cost. I do wish their ordering system were more seamless. You order at the kiosk and are asked if you want a receipt or not and whether you want to add your phone number for a text when your food is ready. They then yell out order numbers and list what's in the order for you to go pick it up at the counter. But if you selected no receipt, you have no idea what your order number is. If you selected to get texted, you only receive the text when the food's ready and not your number and they're yelling for it before you receive the text. Perhaps they should ask to input names on orders or always print a receipt to avoid them having to yell and repeat so many times. read more

I got here first thing when they opened and I was the only customer. Easy menu and self order screens. I was greeted as I entered let's not forget that. Took my receipt and found a spot to sit. Now I was waiting a bit, maybe 10 min or a little longer, but I had nothing to do. So yes I was like this is taking a while. When my order was called I could see the steam coming off of the food. So I knew it was all fresh and made to order. I ordered a few things to see what was good. A chicken sandwich, some covered fries and a side of collard greens. The fries were good, the sandwich was juicy, hot and cooked to perfection but when I tell you, these collard greens were the best I've EVER had. I grew up eating good southern food and I've traveled the entire country and world... these greens were no joke! Idk what they do to them but I would come back just for the greens. Everything is good but that hit the spot and I can't rave enough, I felt like I couldn't breathe because of how fast I was scarfing them down. Seasoned to PERFECTION, the broth had to be drank too. 10/10. Every minute I waited was worth it, and I'll do it again. The ambiance of the location was nice and calm, it was open so you didn't feel so close to someone and they could be far enough away that they didn't see me eating every last bite.
