Worst Chipotle ever. Rice was awful, guac was awful. They charged me for a steak but I ordered 2 chicken bowls and noticed it at home. They put a half of spoon of every ingredient and the bowl looks empty. Never recommend to home here for a meal. Bad business should die and close. read more

I normally have a great time when ordering from this chipotle. But the other night I had ordered a chicken burrito from the app for delivery. Once it got delivered I looked inside the bag and my burrito was the size of a baseball. Not only that but I tried contacting someone through the pepper chat right away and nothing has been done about the scenario. I'm upset with how this has been handled and would like something to be done, can not believe I spent nearly $20 on a burrito that was that small. read more

Cashier didn't not want to accept cash. He said only checks. He then yelled at me when I was going to get the exact amount of cash. who even carries checks on them 24/7. There was no sing in advance that they would not accept cash as there has never been a problem with it. But maybe this man just didn't know how to count change. read more

I don't think they know how to give customer a service, we want to use the bathroom and waiting more than 15 minutes, they always said maybe someone inside, we asked them to check several times, then someone just use the key open the door, no knock, no ask, I think they know there's no people, just locked it and don't want you use. This location sucks balls. They always make burritos the size of a taco and bowls are half full. I always look forward to chipotle it usually makes my day, but now my day is ruined. I ask for double white rice and it's not even the portion of normal white rice. I had to ask for another scoop 2 more times on top of the extra rice i asked for. Same with steak. Worst Chipotle ever. They are charging extra for items that no other Chipotle does. I'm not sure how they are getting away with it. You can't ask for any item extra without getting charged for it. If you want the Honey Vinaigrette you have to order a salad... cant be a bowl. Yes, that means you NEED to have lettuce in your bowl to get it, without them charging a $1.05 for it. No logic at all. I'm not sure how people can even eat at other burrito places in Ames after eating Chipotle. Chipotle is an international chain and has strict rules and recipes regarding food quality and preparation and you can taste it. There aren't five million salsa options like other chains, but they also have a higher standard for the food. There are plentiful options and combinations for even a crazed picky eater. The store setup is a negative. It's a really small store and from 12-1pm and 5pm-6 or 7pm it's extremely crowded. It's also backwards from S Duff. If you're a native Iowan and accustomed to bland watered down no seasoning food, stick to Fighting Burrito. Even Chipotle's mild options have flavor. Not heavy spice, but flavor. Learn what that is! And yes, the store is kept really cold. A benefit is that the employees aren't sweating all in the food, but it can be distracting for diners to be frozen out while eating lunch. read more

I hardly ever write reviews but i'm doing this in hopes something will change. I am a college student and this is the only nearby chipotle in Ames. I am from another state and have never ever had issues with my Chipotle until I came here. I got charged for asking for the normal amount of rice AND got a tiny scoop of protein and when I had asked for more they gave me the normal amount but still proceeded to charge me for double meat. Yes, I know guac is extra. Standard Chipotle restaurant here in Ames. Of the chain burrito places in Ames, it's the best. I do, however, think there is a superior burrito place over on Lincoln Way in Campus Town, but I still love Chipotle. Clean and friendly environment with big portions. Every time I order pick up or delivery from this location, there is always something missing and it's usually something I pay extra for. One time they didn't give me the meat I ordered, and this time I didn't get the queso I paid for. They never scoop the right amount the first time. It shouldn't cost extra to actually get the right amount, or a little more. I've reviewed the location in Valley West Mall in West Des Moines, Iowa, and now I'm reviewing THIS one! Customer service, food quality and atmosphere are all A+! I am so happy they decided to open a location in Ames, especially since the Qdoba closed a few years before. I have been to this location three times to date, and all three have had busy streaks (with lines sometimes backing up to the entrance), and what's interesting about it is that nobody who eats at this Chipotle so far is over 30 hardly...no bias, just an observation. If I had to say anything negative about this location, it's the parking...but it's not THAT bad, but it can get full. I think this is one of the reasons why Qdoba closed, was the access to park...but to be fair, a LOT of businesses in Ames have the weirdest parking lots (West Ames Hy-Vee, Wal-Mart on South Duff., Kum & Go on Welch, etc.) Again, THANK YOU Chipotle for opening an Ames location...you have forever found a loyal customer...and PLEASE don't close!!! read more

Just go to Panchero's. The chicken at Chipotle tastes like a bad, sketchy Mexican restaurant poorly seasoned and cooked old chicken. The tortillas are tough. I went during a lunch rush, so this may not be a typical experience, but based on how everyone else's did looked I suspect it is typical. I got a burrito which was far too large and poorly rolled. It was poorly rolled because you can't roll up a burrito with 2-3x the filing it should have. Burritos should not look like a ball. I've been to various chipotles in different locations and Ames chipotle has got to be my favorite. I feel that this Chipotle is more fresher than all of the others I have ate. Not one bad experience I've had here except for the fact that the other day the worker misheard me saying "no beans" and still proceeded to give me pinto but I let it slide because it's still good. I just wanted to update my review to add that Chipotle has a new vegetarian/vegan option - tofu with a blend of spices called sofritas. I have had the sofritas and it is very good, just a little salty for my tastes. It isn't big chunks of tofu, kind of thicker and paste-like with small pieces of tofu. So, another burrito place in town has an option besides grilled veggies for non-meat eaters. read more

The staff working at this location are rude and racists. Their serving size varies upon person to person. I have not seen them charging extra for rice and dressings for many other customers but were asking 2 dollars extra when I asked for additional rice. This was highly embarrassing when three of their staff members had to discuss with each other to decided how more to charge for a half spoon of rice. Consistently good food at this location, and have never had a problem with their very nice employees and their service. BUT if you go on anything approaching a warm weather day, it is SO COLD. My visit today, I had to finish eating quicker than usual and leave because it was simply air conditioned too cold inside, even though I was dressed too hot for outside. I ask the management to please lay off the A/C, in the coming warmer days! I will honestly think twice about coming here in the spring and summer because of this. read more
