I try to avoid this Chipotle location at all costs, but being the only Chipotle downtown, sometimes a strong Chipotle craving will come over me that forces me to stop in here, which I leave with regret every single time. I rarely have good experiences here. Compared to other Chipotle locations in Pittsburgh, this one is really stingy on the ingredients. The service is usually quite slow here too. Other locations seem to have the method down to a science but this one seems to always be training new employees or something to that effect. Since this is the only Chipotle in town, the lunch rush is insane; the line usually wraps around the entire store and extends back to their back door! Having a rather small dining room doesn't help accommodate the lunch rush either. Ok - here are the real reasons why I cannot bring myself to come here. The chicken has been raw on one occasion. I mean, completely raw. Granted, we got a refund for our meals but raw chicken is unacceptable. On top of serving us raw chicken, when we notified the workers of our raw chicken, they did not replace the chicken they were serving but rather, continued to serve that batch of chicken to other diners. Not good. On another occasion, my burrito bowl was so incredibly over salted that it was inedible. I couldn't tell if it was the rice, the beans or what component that was over salted but like I said, it was like eating straight salt. There are other locations that do it way better. Avoid this one if you can. read more

I'm appalled at the manager's attitude. They have a rat problem yet they're still open and serving food. It's disgusting. One ran across my friend's foot last week while she was waiting to pay for a burrito. After she ran out and calmed herself down enough to process what happened, she called the manager. He basically said "...and? We know we have a problem." Before this fiasco, I had been going to this location for about half a year now and I've seen that the level of service has gone down significantly in the last two months. I don't know what happened to the previous team but the servers at the front don't seem to know what they're doing. Lots of standing around and not offering an explanation for the delay. No "sorry, we're waiting on veggies/brown rice/chicken/etc." This causes aggravating and excessively long lines during lunch hour (even for chipotle). The two stars are really just for the nice cashier and the taste of the food. I don't plan on going back to this location unless there's an obvious change in management and cleanliness. read more

I love an occasional visit to a Chipotle for tacos or a salad, but as with any chain restaurant the quality of service can vary. I am regularly ASTOUNDED at the pace and quality of the service at this location during the downtown lunch rush. The lines get long because it's the only Chipotle nearby, but it moves faster than you'd ever think. I don't know what the training regimen is to work the line there, but it's a well-oiled machine! Everyone is super friendly in addition to efficient. I know I would not be able to maintain a positive attitude to the same degree these lovely folks do. In fact, I once stopped in halfway through a pretty soul-crushing afternoon. My attitude must have been obvious because the manager comped my meal just in hopes that it would help cheer me up. I visit this Chipotle often for lunch and have always been very satisfied with my meal and the service! As you can imagine, it gets PACKED between 12-1pm for the lunch rush, but honestly it looks a lot worse than it is! I've been in a line that wraps all the way around the dining room and down the hallway and am still usually out the door with my food in under 15 mins. Quality of the food has always been good and their staff is always polite and smiling. If you're not into the crowd, go around 11 or after 1 and you'll be fine. read more

It's Chipolte so as far as fast food Mexican goes they set the stand by which other chains are weighed. That being said, this location has one big problem and that is it's popularity. While I would usually fare Chipolte higher this one always has a very long line and a but of time needs to be dedicated to it. When looking for a quick lunch bite on a time crunch this location does not do it for me because of the quantities of people lined here. I would reccomend a number of other places if you were willing to dedicate the time and patience to the Chipolte line. read more

Every time I put in a mobile order at this Chipotle it is 30 minutes late. I would understand if it happened once and they were having a bad night but EVERY TIME. Something needs to be fixed here. Call me insane but I have never been to chipotle before until yesterday. Actually I will save you the time and I'll just call myself insane for waiting that long. I ordered the chicken salad. I was slightly disappointed in the amount of lettuce they gave me but they compensated for that by giving me a large amount of chicken, cilantro lime brown rice, black beans and the other toppings I requested. The pico was fresh, the hot salsa was delicious and spicy and the guacamole was super fresh and delicious (an extra charge but worth it). The portion was huge for under $7. I work downtown and often get takeout from this location. That'll probably end today. The service is abnormally slow -- so much so that I usually find myself waiting 20-30 mins + beyond when my takeout order is supposed to be ready. Also, more often than not, my order is incorrect, like it was earlier today. For those of you who are looking for a quick mean or who have dietary restrictions, I would avoid this location. It pains me to give Chipotle 3 stars, b/c I really love Chipotle - just not in downtown Pittsburgh. Have you read the disclaimer that due to how they source their food (local, fresh, natural, etc.) tastes can differ from geographic region?! Well let me tell you - this is true! A Chipotle in NYC is what got me initially hooked to this chain and then living in Chicago with a Chipotle around the block from where I worked solidified its status as a top 5 eating place preference for me. So you can imagine my enthusiasm when I had heard Chipotle was coming downtown (I work downtown). My coworkers didn't have to imagine my enthusiasm they heard about it until I finally got myself down to Chips and had a go. I came back sorta like Charlie Brown on a rainy day - head hung low, sad music in the background. I struggled to tell my coworkers that something was just off and the Chips in downtown wasn't all I had hoped. I still encouraged them to go, but with a caveat that there are better Chipotles out there and if they go to another city to check them out. While I've gone to this Chipotle a handful of times, I can't help but feel nostalgic about the memories of a 5 star Chipotle. read more

A coworker once told me that Chipotle will not build a new franchise unless there is already a competitor in close proximity. If true, it certainly speaks to Chipotle's confidence that it can beat out any other fast food mexican joint. The loooong lines snaking through the the Market Square Chipotle testify that they're winning the battle. Still they move pretty quickly so don't be discouraged. When I called back the next day with my order # and everything and proof that I paid and didn't pick it up, they told me that there was nothing that they can do for me. One of my favorite places to grab a burrito. I like that they also have the "fajita burrito" option as well if you don't like beans...instead you get fired peppers and onions. Uh oh. I've stumbled upon what will now be one of my favorite spots for lunch in downtown Pittsburgh.... I just recently started working in downtown and have been trying out a lot of new lunch places. A lot of my friends are Chipotle fans, but I had only been several times throughout the country and never quite understood their love for it. Except that changed yesterday. I'm not sure what lured me into Chipotle, but something did. The environment is very attractive and trendy with lots of seats lining the windows overlooking Forbes and Market Square. It makes for a great zone-out, people-watching lunch that is often needed mid-day when you work in an office with no windows. The prices are inexpensive, and the quality of food is exceptional. Why have I been going to Qdoba and Moe's all these years? I just wanted to kick myself for somehow overlooking how great Chipotle is all this time. I highly recommend the Burrito Bowl, the featured item when I went yesterday. Very tasty and filled with fresh ingredients. Plus, I didn't feel like it was very bad for me with its mix of chicken, rice, and toppings. OK, now I might just be deceiving myself, but just go with it for me!! Typical Chipotle, which I love. However, I noticed a few quirks of this place. First of all, they were super fast here. Maybe even a little too fast since there were two people in line, but then within 15 minutes, I found out why. The line for lunch here is extreme! So it pays to get here early. I walked down to this new Chipotle in market square for lunch today. The place was pretty empty in comparison to most Chipotle restuarants I have been to. My chicken burrito with black beans, mild salsa, lettuce, cheese, and sour cream was better than the burritos I usually get at the Oakland location. I'm not sure why but I could tell a difference. This location, like every PA Chipotle i have been to does not serve beer. The ones in Ohio usually do and that is always a plus. The seating area is small but there are long tables with bar stools along all the windows offering a relaxing spot to watch the action on the square while eating. Worst experience here. This chipotle has given me incorrect burrito bowls and omitted extra priced items every time I have been there. Every single item in the bowls were incorrect even though the sticker had our correct orders. Today while I waited in line there was a little tiff between a couple of employees behind the line. It was kind of awkward but it reminded me that I've been meaning to write a review about this Chipotle location. Chipotle employees are always pretty cheerful but these guys are commendable. They're dealing with out-the-door lines every day at this location and are always smiling when I finally get to the front. Even today with what could have become an "incident", the manager handled the situation immediately and the cashier gracefully stepped in to finish my order. I thought it was odd that right next to Chipotle was a Moe's Southwest Grill. (I always thought that if Chipotle served cheese sauce similar to Moe's, it'd be absolute perfection.) I'm not too sure how that will impact each eatery but hey, best of luck to Moe's. Anyway, the staff was super friendly. This Chipotle was there right when we needed it - around 9 pm on a Wednesday when we were stumbling to the bus stop after the Yelp Elite Event at Olive or Twist. We needed food to help soak up our free cocktails, and we needed it now! What better way then with a yummy burrito? Service was fast and friendly, and we got our burritos to go so that we could sit in Market Square and people-watch. We listened to the music coming out of NOLA, and nommed our burrito snacks. I always enjoy Chipotle, sometimes even craving it, and I like how they aim to serve sustainably raised ingredients. It's always super satisfying and tasty, and you get exactly what you are hoping for. And this one is in a great location, perfect for sitting outside and relaxing. read more

Don't waste your time here, it's disgusting. I placed my order at 9:45 pm, the young man behind the counter didn't greet me or say anything, just a blank stare, weird. As I started eating my meal the manager began harassing me about taking my food in a bag because apparently they were closed. I told her it was not 10:00 o'clock yet, their hours are stated everywhere as closing at 10:00 pm, and not 9:45 pm. She said they were closed and I needed to leave (???). She was nasty and unprofessional, I called her up on it saying it's rude to kick people out while they're eating, suggested they change their closing hours to 9:45 pm instead to make people aware. The entire staff seemed way too thuggish, no manners, no customer service and to top it off a nasty manager threatening people to leave. The place was extremely dirty, every space filled with food and trash, including tables and floor. I asked her if I could use the bathroom, she said it's already been cleaned. Again, it's not 10:00 pm yet, shame on you. I was very professional to her and was simply pushing back at the harassment, when suddenly a friend of the manager that was there waiting for her approached her in a threatening manner asking her if he needed to take care of me. Whaaaa!? LOL #ThugLife I ate my entire meal in about 5 minutes, and when I came out of the bathroom I said thank you to the cashier that was there while manager and her friends were still talking about me. We order chipotle online weekly. This location is absolutely awful. I've held off posting a review for a long time hoping management would turn it around. We usually go to the Oakland one unless we're in the downtown area. My order is never right at this downtown location. Today, it was missing salsa and everything was just dry and lacked flavor. My boyfriend opened up his tacos and pulled a long black hair out of them. This is totally unacceptable. Save yourselves and go to the Oakland location. Got a yelp purely to express my disdain for the way this restaurant is managed. Multiple times I have shown up and they are put of food options or didn't have any rice ready which takes almost an hour and a half to make. More than once have I left chipotle and gone over to Moe's due to the lack of preparation at this Chipotle. Staff portion sizes are not consistent. Music is blasting to the point where you can't think. The food is good enough that its bearable going there, but too many times have stupid technicalities caused incredible frustration. They are a food business. If you run out of it and didn't have anything cooking in the meantime, how do you expect to satisfy customers? Need some Lean Six Sigma ideas there, too much waste in too many ways, especially time. read more
