Food: I had a burrito packed with flavor, and I especially loved the Verde and Rojo sauces that gave it a great kick. My friend ordered the chicken tacos and really enjoyed them as well. Solid portions and fresh-tasting ingredients made it a satisfying meal. Service: Our waitress, Emely, was really polite and attentive throughout the meal. Service was straightforward and pleasant. Aesthetic: A cozy Mexican restaurant with around six tables and upbeat music that sets a nice tone. Parking can be tricky, with only a few spots on the side -- avoid the back lot, especially on weekends.

My husband put our name in for a party of four and gave his phone number for the text notification but the hostess accidentally entered us as a party of two. Thankfully, the table that was ready was large enough for four but it could have caused an issue. As a note, she remembered and realized she mistyped it and apologized immediately. Our waiter was friendly, though the service had a few hiccups. My chicken quesadilla (which I ordered as my entrée) came out well before everyone else's meals. When boxing leftovers, he asked whether I wanted the sides, sour cream, and salsa included. I said no, but when I opened the container the next day, everything had been packed together anyway. Food: The chicken quesadilla was delicious and generously filled with shredded chicken. Drinks: The frozen strawberry margarita was excellent. It was filled to the brim and stronger than what you typically get at a restaurant. Overall, I'm chalking the service issues up to it being a busy Saturday night. We'd still happily return to Jose Tejas whenever we're in the area.

The food is the reason I'm writing this review. Ordered the Cajun popcorn shrimp for appetizer and it was beyond salty. The sauce helped but the salt was the extent of the taste. My wife had the fish fajitas and I had the pulled chicken tacos for lunch with fries. The fries were over fried like chips but the pulled chicken tacos was downright not right there was a chicken pot outlets chicken with a taste to the chicken. I had one bite put it down and pushed the plate away. I was done. My wife ate some of her fajita with her comment being that it's was really spicy. I asked for the check. The waiter asked us for boxes. Seeing that we didn't eat the food we said we weren't taking anything. I told him to have someone check the chicken as it's not right and he said he would let them know. He came back with the check I paid the full check and again mentioned to the waiter that someone should really look into the chicken as someone will get sick and we left. My wife was upset as she was upset I paid the sill receipt but my point is the following. Reputable locations who take their businesses serious pay attention and monitor their patrons. Ultimately without them they don't have a business. Your representative taking care of us saw we barely touched the food if at all. This is not normal at an eating establishment and your only concern was that we didn't want to take the food home. Following my warning on the food there was no concern just collect your check and rip. Enjoy the hundred bucks we will never be back. Left a star as I couldn't post with none.

The service was dreadful our waiter was incredibly rude and unprofessional, failing to even greet us or introduce himself. We felt rushed to order, we asked for lemonades then after asked for another drink by the time we were handed the lemonades and when I politely asked to keep my lemonade, he rolled his eyes and tried to snatch it from my husband's hand. The food was equally disappointing. The ceviche was overwhelmingly salty, making it inedible, and my husband's "Birria" Burrito bore no resemblance to what was described on the menu or what a true birria SHOULD BE. We then ordered the birria tacos that were acceptable, the waiter's behavior continued to be an issue. He ignored my husband's request for the check, instead bringing our to-go items one by one before FINALLY presenting the bill - with an unearned tip already added?! To top it all off, we noticed the staff talking and laughing about us, and the same waiter stared us down as we left and got into our car. This was an incredibly uncomfortable and unwelcoming experience. The place was empty, yet there was a DJ playing, on a Friday night of all times!? We should have recognized the red flags immediately and left. I absolutely DO NOT recommend this place.
